I was there! This concert was the Division Bell tour of North America & Europe. When this concert was performed at Giants Stadium in New Jersey, USA, I was there. I cannot articulate in words the feelings I had during this performance. It was like my soul was transported to a higher dimension. I recall shouting and crying during Comfortably Numb (I couldn't help myself as it was so emotional) "This cannot be real! This cannot be happening!" When the giant disco ball lighted up, it was like a million beams of light swirling around the stadium, it was a God experience.
I'm so grateful for TH-cam providing the means so that those who were not there can get a taste of this life changing experience.

I was at this concert at Earls Court, London. The whole concert was mind-blowing & a life changing experience.

When I first saw it many years ago, I was just stunned by the opening song "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and truly believed it to be the greatest live performance of any song I had ever seen ... until they performed the next song ... and then the one after that.

Hi guys - Some info on an epic band: The name came from two blues musicians, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. Syd Barrett, an original member, but not with the band when they made this music, liked those two musicians and it stuck. Syd became unstable mentally and he did quite a bit of acid. It was the '60's and the music Pink Floyd was putting out at the time was drastically different. The singer/guitar player here, David Gilmour, replaced Syd. Much of PF's music, and Comfortably Numb in particular, come from concept albums. The songs on the album go together in some way. In this case, Comfortably Numb came from a double album called The Wall. The Wall being a metaphor for trying to protect yourself from the negative things in life while still actually having a life. If you just read a brief about it, you'll get it. They made a movie from it and it was good. Dark Side of the Moon is another epic concept album they made in 1974. I think it's the 2nd most sold album in history after Thriller by MJ.

50 years ago Pink Floyd were already 200 years ahead of everybody!
I bought my first Pink Floyd album in 1969 (Ummagumma) and saw them live in 1971
and 4 more times after that. For me This is the BEST band of all times.
Now I'm 71 years old and still listen to them everyday.
The best guitar solo of Gilmour is always the last one we listened. There are so many best solo of David!

Fabulous isn’t it. You clearly enjoyed this version of ‘Comfortably Numb’.
But I highly recommend you try this one too. Even if it’s just for your own personal viewing.
I was lucky enough to see the ‘One Night Only’ Cinema showing of David Gilmour’s return to the Pompeii Amphitheater, in 2016, with his Band. (Pink Floyd’s previous visit being in 1971, when they were filmed playing ‘Echoes’, in the Centre of the Amphitheater, with no audience), which I know you’ve seen.
And this version of ‘Comfortably Numb’, from that 2016 Show, is sensational. This time to an audience.
And what a light Show this has too. All in the stunning setting of this Roman Amphitheater.
You loved the extended guitar solo, well here’s David Gilmour at his stunning best, aged 70.
Incredible. Just my own feelings. Hope you can manage to watch this video, you won’t regret it.

The Pulse Tour of 1994 was epic and has maybe been unmatched ever since (for over 30 years) in terms of the whole production of the show (sound, lights, lasers, everything). And some say, the second solo of Comfortably numb as played by David Gilmour on the Pulse Tour is the best guitar solo ever played on this planet. Unfortunately, Gilmour, though still alive and active at 78, is also no longer able to play it like he could back then.)

One of you mentioned the size of the crowd. Just to let you know this was Earl's Court in London and seats almost 20,000 people. Well this show is sold out 15 nights in a row for over a quarter of a million people at this one venue!! Every song Pink Floyd does during this 1994 Pulse concert is at least equal to almost any other group's Grand finale or final closing song!! "Comfortably Numb" wasn't even the closing song which is actually the song "Run Like Hell" which you guys should watch also. Or do the song from this concert called "High Hopes" to see a bunch of very different instruments utilized for a beautiful song!!!

“The Wall” tells the story of a fictional young lad named Pink, who wants to grow up and become a rock star. Over the course of the four sides, he does achieve his dream, but finds that, in order to do that, he’s had to put up emotional walls, to protect himself from people who hurt him.
By the time we get to “ Comfortably Numb”, he finds himself not only terribly lonely, he realizes that he’s surrounded himself with users, sycophants, and leeches, who only care about how much money they can make off of Pink. To ease his pain, he turns to drugs.
The song is a conversation between Pink, who’s too stoned to perform one night before a show, and a local doctor the greedy promoter calls in, to ‘sober Pink up’ enough to get out on stage and perform, so he doesn’t have to give refunds. Gilmour’s first guitar solo is while Pink is still blissfully stoned, but his second solo is after the doc’s shot (“Just a little pin-prick…” *chime*) has kicked in, and Pink is forced to face the life he has come to hate. In David Gilmour’s masterful hands, he makes his guitar wail, and we feel Pink’s rage, his aching loneliness, his self-loathing, his devastating pain.
I was blessed to see this tour live, and it was even better than it looks - and that’s saying something! The PULSE Concert was a truly legendary performance. Gilmour’s emotional twin solos here have been called -arguably- one of the greatest rock performances ever recorded.
You can pick any song from PULSE, and it will be a magnificent performance. Pink Floyd were always audio perfectionists. So the audio from this entire show is exceptional, and the visuals…well, you saw what they’re like. I’d suggest “One Of These Days” (better idea of what it was like to be there), “Wish You Were Here”, (a poignant, moving conversation with the memory of their lost bandmate, Syd Barrett), “Sorrow”, (more incredible guitar work by Gilmour), or “High Hopes” (a wistful look back at the happy days of youth.) But honestly, you can pick any song from PULSE.

As if they, or anyone, could possibly pick up on the subtleties of the album version. You are on listen 917. And for the slight audio improvement you would forgo the video aspect that younger folks fully expect on TH-cam -because TH-cam is a visual medium. First comment from them was about how the visuals compliment the music.
This should be about what they enjoy not what you would enjoy.
"This is how you should have a concert" was how he summed it up. 10:30 is all about how *visually* beautiful it was.
