At some point these theories have to come true. Miyazaki and Fromsoft can only keep this dlc hidden for so long but eventually it’s time to get down to business. The two year anniversary month and one year anniversary of the dlc announcement feels like it has to be the time to get things rolling.

As much as I want new content, I’d be content too if a big portion of the dlc was just fixing the obviously rushed stuff like the mountains of useless weapons, incantations and ashes of war, pvp and balancing in some areas of the base game (everything after leyndell).

"pvp" about the only thing i agree with, pvp balance in this game is ass, for some reason ds2 was the only fromsoft game with a somewhat balanced pvp and thats such a shame, but its obviously not a priority to them and im fine with it staying that way.

Flails, daggers and axes are for the most part pretty bad too and I won’t even get started on the holy incantations or the thorn sorceries or anything deathblight related.

I've been patiently waiting for this dlc since August of 2022 when I got the platinum trophy for Elden Ring. I really hope the extra time needed for this ends with us being blown away again like when we first played Elden Ring.
Idk if they can blow it away, but I have faith and I’m being patient with no expectations. All they have to do is continue what they did and add on. Lot of new spells, incantations and weapons. Maybe, add dbl weapon arts on weapon's? As long as we get a good send off for miquella and the boys I really can’t ask for too much.

Hey Zio, I know it's off topic, but after re-reading the Golden Age Arc in Berserk I have a theory about the DLC (Minor Spoilers for Berserk): . . . . . . During the Eclipse, the Sun was literally blocked by the moon, but all the light and life in the characters was also snuffed out by the dark evil and hunger of the Apostles and the God Hand. That got me thinking, in Elden Ring the Erd Tree plays the role of the Sun in lighting the land. Perhaps the Eclipse could be the Death Root blocking/strangling the light of the Erd Tree. Perhaps Miquilla's "goal" to Resurrect Godwin or bring about his new Haligtree could mean the sacrifice of many, similar to Griffith sacrificing his friends to obtain Demon Hood. (I'm not a lore expert or anything so feel free to tell me your thoughts)
Ushering all the outcasts of the land to the Halligtree under the guise of offering safe harbor from persecution, only to be fodder for mass sacrifice to cure his/Malenia's cosmic afflictions
Yeah one thing that hasn't sat well about Miquella is that although he is supposedly providing sanctuary to the albinaurics, Castle Sol, where the Eclipse ritual took place, has tortured albinaurics inside the castle. Why are they there, or rather what were they used for? It's a bit curious and a bit sinister to think about, so I think your theory has weight.

I was at the premiere of the symphonic concert in Paris, it was incredible! I asked everyone I could about the dlc (the producers...) but no one had any info and there was no one from from software there unfortunately
My theory about the dlc is that it’s going to have the exact same map as far as size and shape, but everything inside it will be completely rearranged with new enemies, bosses, npc’s, area names even. That’s why it has taken from soft so long to finish it and also why it’s named shadow of the erdtree, because it’s basically a mirror image of the existing game but now we’re on the dark side of it all. That’s just a game theory tho…

I’d say it’s safe to assume that the DLC will launch at the end of February, assuming they also make an announcement within the next few days. I imagine that putting a content package on Steam shows that they are close to announcing the DLC and are in the final stages of launching it.
Not even 3 weeks ago they said they aren't there yet but things are proceeding smoothly. February is absolutely out of the question. Marketing for this would start at least 3 months prior and we haven't even seen a trailer yet.
You can look it up brother im sure you'll find it if you look. And as to the dlc not a new game... they have been working on this "dlc" for well over 2 years now. The base game took them roughly 6 years? This isn't some small ad on like we've seen in the past. It's likely going to be the biggest expansion from soft has ever done for one of their games. Advertising for a game usually starts maybe 6 to 9 months before a game releases depending on the publisher. And for an expansion with from soft you can safely assume they won't be dropping a trailer until they are in the polishing stage of development. I think the earliest we will see a trailer is February with a possible fall release date. If you think it's coming in February with zero marketing in January you are truly smoking the good copium

I think this Pure Arts announcement might actually be something more to read into and consider. If you own the Elden Ring Collector's Edition and look under the Malenia statue, you'll notice that the statue was actually made by Pure Arts. They also created the statue for the Dark Souls III Prestige Edition.
Imagine they fix the co op and let you play the entire game with a partner, regardless of level and just scale your level down once you join a game to within 10% of the person who’s file you are joining. Now that I would be just as hyped for. Also the NAT2 connection issue is annoying, using NAT3 I can’t even play co op with anyone.

The wait is getting ridiculous. I would be a lot more understanding if they were teasing the dlc with more screenshots and lore tidbits every once and a while, but being silent on the dlc for this long is so frustrating.

Could be a shadow drop or up for pre order and release April-august. Still would be weird they didn’t just reveal it at game awards instead of randomly but those months have very little competition so they don’t have to worry about heavy marketing.
At this point, FromSoft could announce the DLC will be released tomorrow, and I would still be skepitical of TH-cam videos saying the DLC is "right around the corner."
I can forgive the long wait as long as it’s basically the size of a whole new game. They already said there wouldn’t be an Elden ring 2, so the next best thing is a dlc the size of a part 2 to make up for it. They have never once said there won’t be a Elden Ring 2 lol in fact Bandai has stated they want Elden Ring to be a franchise just like Dark Souls so there most likely will be a Elden Ring 2 but wayyyy later in the future.

Never in my life have i seen a DLC hyped to the same level (most cases above) as a full release game. Miyazaki is truly the GOAT

I’d say it’s safe to assume that the DLC will launch at the end of February, assuming they also make an announcement within the next few days.
I imagine that putting a content package on Steam shows that they are close to announcing the DLC and are in the final stages of launching it.

Not even 3 weeks ago they said they aren't there yet but things are proceeding smoothly. February is absolutely out of the question. Marketing for this would start at least 3 months prior and we haven't even seen a trailer yet.

You can look it up brother im sure you'll find it if you look. And as to the dlc not a new game... they have been working on this "dlc" for well over 2 years now. The base game took them roughly 6 years? This isn't some small ad on like we've seen in the past. It's likely going to be the biggest expansion from soft has ever done for one of their games. Advertising for a game usually starts maybe 6 to 9 months before a game releases depending on the publisher. And for an expansion with from soft you can safely assume they won't be dropping a trailer until they are in the polishing stage of development. I think the earliest we will see a trailer is February with a possible fall release date. If you think it's coming in February with zero marketing in January you are truly smoking the good copium

Just something to keep in mind... According to the website of from software's parent company Kadokawa, they don't expect an increase in sales for their fiscal year 23 which one would suspect with such an highly anticipated DLC as shadow of the erdtree.

More than likely From will shadow drop the DLC. There is already massive hype and tons of eyes on From’s next move with Elden ring. I don’t think they will market heavily (or at all) for this DLC. Random trailer the same week as release might be more likely lol

I think this Pure Arts announcement might actually be something more to read into and consider. If you own the Elden Ring Collector's Edition and look under the Malenia statue, you'll notice that the statue was actually made by Pure Arts. They also created the statue for the Dark Souls III Prestige Edition.
Imagine they fix the co op and let you play the entire game with a partner, regardless of level and just scale your level down once you join a game to within 10% of the person who’s file you are joining. Now that I would be just as hyped for. Also the NAT2 connection issue is annoying, using NAT3 I can’t even play co op with anyone.
Given all the news surrounding the dlc this has to be it. Feb. is our month.

Best case scenario? They do show the trailer in Feb and it comes out 3 months after that making it a 4-5 month wait period from right now. Enjoy.

The wait is getting ridiculous. I would be a lot more understanding if they were teasing the dlc with more screenshots and lore tidbits every once and a while, but being silent on the dlc for this long is so frustrating.

Could be a shadow drop or up for pre order and release April-august. Still would be weird they didn’t just reveal it at game awards instead of randomly but those months have very little competition so they don’t have to worry about heavy marketing.

At this point, FromSoft could announce the DLC will be released tomorrow, and I would still be skepitical of TH-cam videos saying the DLC is "right around the corner."
I can forgive the long wait as long as it’s basically the size of a whole new game. They already said there wouldn’t be an Elden ring 2, so the next best thing is a dlc the size of a part 2 to make up for it. I have faith it’ll be good, my minor want is a new headband head armor so I can see my characters face…. Or a crown?
