    How do you use these with tiltable mounts? The increased pullout force is awesome, but if you want to tilt your panels more than the roof angle, you have to have an extension somehow.

    • @TheMetalRoofingAcademy
      @TheMetalRoofingAcademy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The ProteaBracket has been used with tilt racking systems in the past but it is most ideal for flush mount arrays. The best bracket for installing a tilt racking system on and exposed fastened roof would be our SolarFoot or VersaGard. Will this work with Florida building codes? How does it hold up in the salt air? Thanks.

    • @TheMetalRoofingAcademy
      @TheMetalRoofingAcademy  ปีที่แล้ว

      S-5! clamps and brackets are used all over Florida in every jurisdiction and our extensive load testing (www.s-5.com/load-tests/) ensures that you will have no problems engineering the attachments to your wind speeds. We have also done salt fog testing on our clamps and brackets and they are warrantied to last the life of the roof. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Can this be used on a 29 gauge metal roof?

    • @TheMetalRoofingAcademy
      @TheMetalRoofingAcademy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, we do not recommend sheet metal only attachment on 29 gauge material. For panels thinner than 26 gauge, we recommend using our structurally attached brackets such as our SolarFoot, VersaBrackets, or VersaGard.

    What is the wind rating on these. Wouldn't it be stronger to mount into roof purlins ? Thanks

      We offer a wide range of brackets that include rib mounted brackets that attach into the sheet metal only and structurally mounted brackets that fasten through into the decking or purlins. Both options are lab tested to be extremely strong and can easily be engineered to just about any wind conditions. You can view all of our load data on the Load Tests page of our site. www.s-5.com/load-tests
      While fastening directly into the decking or purlins can often be a stronger method of attachments the purlins in many cases are not spaced properly or in the right locations for where the attachments need to land so in cases like this a rib mounted bracket allows for universal placement along the length of the rib, giving more flexibility the array designer and installer.

    If you notice, you must at least have 26 gage panels, most roofers will use 29 gage panels the thinnest on the market!!! Be careful!!!

    • @TheMetalRoofingAcademy
      @TheMetalRoofingAcademy  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct, 29 gauge is very thin material and typically the best approach on these thin panels is to use one of structurally-attached though-fastened brackets such as our SolarFoot, VersaBracket, CorruBracket, or VersaGard. We do also have our ProteaBracket tested on 29ga as a sheet metal only attachment and, while lower than thicker gauges, the load values are still good and can easily be used to properly engineer a solar array. If you have any other question about our products or our load testing please reach out to us at support@s-5.com.
