All fastening systems come with specifications to respect. How do you respect the torque (NM) specifications with the driver tools used in the video?🤔
This doesn't look good at all, the wire should be attached every 2 feet and the way you wire it, the wire can drop onto the roof, which is a big no no, as it is what caused a big solar fire years ago when the wire rubbed against the roof and the insulation wore off in spots and shorted on the roof. The modules you are using look like old Solarworld ones that you can't attach wire clips to going across, we have also run into that in some older Longi panels. We don't use them for that reason on a roof, where we attach directly to the modules. We also attach within 6 inches of the junction box.
Thanks. Re. Grounding: can you run copper wire through the discs? Would you run then through each mounting point or only some?
You’ll want to use a grounding lug on each section of bonded sub-array or array. Our PVKIT will bond each column of modules, and by using a bonding jumper (or similar) to bond column to column, the entire sub-array will be bonded. Then, a grounding lug can be used to run a copper wire to ground. The grounding lug can attach to a module frame or a PVKIT disk. Grounding lugs, bonding jumpers, and other useful solar hardware can be found on the hardware section of our website (www.s-5.com/hardware), and can be purchased through our distributors.
Nope. Flat mount will overheat under the panel, collect too much snow, can't be properly sun angled. There is no free lunch.
While some projects certainly still have more success with a tilt mount system, the roof top solar industry has largely shifted towards flush mount systems. This is mostly since module efficiency has improved to the point that the ROI from the project is often better with flush mount systems compared to tilt. Flush mount systems can have more modules/roof space, compared to tilted modules which can get better efficiency per module due to the ideal tilt, but module/area is lower since space is lost due to shadows from the raised modules. Tilt mount systems also face much greater wind forces compared to a flush mount system.
Where i can buy this type of hook?
Which hooks are you referrring to? If you mean the GripperFix struts, they're available through all our distributors. Here's a link to one place they can be purchased through. buys-5.com/gripperfix-utility-mounting-system-for-metal-roofing

Awesome content as always! Wishing you all the best everyday.
This question is about standing seam roof projects in general... how do you penetrate/flash the deck to get your wires into the attic and down to the inverter?
Thanks for reaching out! This question is a tough one, and the answer will likely vary based on the exact kind of metal roof you have. Please reach out to us at support@s-5.com and we'll be happy to discuss this with you further on a project level. Roof flashings are not something S-5! manufactures, but we certainly have industry partners who are experts in this subject matter.
Great video
I put mine on with the pivot mount from SL with some strong magnets that are coated with rubber. I got hit directly with a hurricane & my dish didn't go anywhere. Much better than screws. I can move it or take it down with ease.
We are glad you found a solution you like. Just please note that this project is on an exposed-fastener roof, which has hundreds of penetrations already - as is the way these roofs are supposed to be installed. We have a non-penetrative solution for standing seam roofs which is what you might have.
it will damage the panel if you turn it upside down like that on the roof
We entirely agree. This video is for visual demonstration purposes only. We don't want you to place your modules upside down.
So what happens when you need your roof clear and it has 3 ft of snow and is about to collaps your roof. Dont those just defete the purpous of metal roof
What I believe you are describing is a common misconception. What you are referring to is when buildings are designed with a "slippery roof load reduction". This is quite rare, and in nearly every high snow load area, using a slippery roof load reduction is against building code since buildings must be able to safely withstand the absolute most snow load the project location could experience. Adding snow retention on those roofs does not pose a risk, since the buildings are designed to handle the entire snow load that building code dictates.
Cool! Thanks for making this video.
Thanks, Michael! Happy to hear it was useful to you.
I tried to order product and their distributor(s) never returned my inquiries.
We are sorry to hear this. Please reach out to us at support@s-5.com and we will connect you directly with a distributor who makes sense for your project.
Well explained. Thank you so much. 😊
Excellent video!
We're very glad you liked it!
Hi, what are exact material names that were used on this installation?
You can find all the materials that were used here on one of our distributor's websites - buys-5.com/product/satellite-dish-mounting-kit
Se vende en España??
Hola Rafael. Si, vendemos en España. La compra es a través de nuestros distribuidores. Puedes encontrar a nuestros partners oficiales en nuestro localizador de distribuidores: es.s-5.com/how-to-buy/ ¡Gracias por tu preferencia!
Happy New year guys! and congrats to the winner!
How are panels connected to allow current to flow
Our PVKIT allows for gaps and spacing to meet ASCE 7 allowance for load reduction. Please reach out to us at support@s-5.com if you'd like to discuss further.
What about grounding?
Grounding is most commonly achieved with a third-party, UL-listed, grounding lug which can attach to our PVKIT disk or the module frame.
😂
Congrats to the winners! ❤

Please send us information about your roof to support@s-5.com and we'll be happy to assist further.
I have been around for a long time, can't remember how I found the channel. Just happy I did.
I was doing some search online and you came up.
Actually, my brother ask me to go watch your videos.
A roof is a terrible place to put your solar panels , roofs are the most fragile part of a house and all the extra weight and wind loads might cause problems in the future . Animals will build nests under them and chew up the wiring . You can't aim them efficiently and mounting all that delicate electronic equipment on the hottest part of a house will not do the circuitry any good .
Here at S-5!, we only manufacture attachments for metal roofs as we believe that metal roofs are the best, most durable, most versatile, and longest-lasting roofs available among other advantages. Metal roofs also make an excellent platform for mounting solar. Standing seam roofs in particular are extremely durable and allow for penetration-free attachment of solar arrays using our clamps and these roofs with solar attached can and often are engineered to withstand wind speeds of 185 mph +. Arrays are most often installed on south-facing slopes when possible for the best exposure to the sun and with the greatly increased module efficiency in recent years modules being at the optimal angle to the sun is not nearly as critical as it once was. Rooftop arrays often include wire screens around the perimeter to keep critters out that would build nests and chew on cables. As common as rooftop arrays are nowadays, module manufacturers have taken into consideration the extreme temperatures that roofs can reach, and the electronics are designed and protected accordingly. If you would like to discuss any other concerns or questions you may have please reach out to us a support@s-5.com
If your roof is the weakest part of your home, you need to fire your architect!
