We studied Genie's case extensively at uni when I was studying to be a teacher. Her real name is Susan Wiley, and while she was in foster care, the progress she made with the linguists unfortunately backslid, mainly because her numerous foster parents didn't even try to help her with her communication. She was also briefly returned to her mother (which is shocking in and of itself) and basically returned to her pre-rescue state. It just breaks my heart that she improved so much and because of money, all that hard work was for nothing. It should be noted as well that Genie's linguistics tutor, Prof. Susan Curtiss, wanted to become Genie's legal guardian when the funding was revoked, because they'd formed a mother/daughter bond during their sessions and they both really cared for each other, but the request was denied.

I remember a couple years ago I truly believed I was developing "fatal insomnia" because I was trying to kick my addiction to opiates. It's a level of physical and psychological pain that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I'm glad I'm clean now and been getting a normal night's sleep since then.
The fatal insomnia one is particularly scary to me because a good friend of mine had a bout of severe insomnia a year or so ago. He couldn't sleep for several days and eventually had to go to the hospital to be induced to sleep. He's okay now thankfully, and it seems to have been caused by stress from work rather than a genetic condition. It was so scary when it happened, I can't even imagine how he must have felt.
I went almost 48 hours without sleep once and it was actually painful. It felt like my soul was trying to leave my body. I can't really describe what I saw or heard because I don't remember much other than feeling heavy and like I was floating at the same time.
Went 5 and half days without sleep taking molly every day for the week definitely not fun. After the 2nd day I just felt really like reality was off and paranoid as hell I didnt want to go outside/talk to anyone, light in general was bothering me to a extreme degeree stayed in my room with the lights off just doing random shit,seeing random shit out the corner of my eye,weird auditory hallucinations. When I finnaly went to sleep I slept for 15 hours straight lol.

You'll notice in the video that Lazy is specifically referring to Fatal Familial Insomnia, which is specific within a family. It behaves like a prion disease that targets the neuron receptors that initiate sleep (hence why medication won't work). Fatal insomnia due to a cellular cause has never been confirmed in anyone outside of that genetic tree, so please don't stress out about it in yourself!
The part about Genie's story that will forever piss me off even more than the extreme abuse of her childhood (and that's up there with rage-inducing, to begin with) is that she was used as a science experiment to prove very rigid ideas about language. Due to her upbringing, she lacked any real exposure to language during the normal years most children learn to speak. She was seen as the 'forbidden experiment' - something that they couldn't in good conscience due to a child (i.e. raise them in a silent environment with no language exposure) - and would allow them to show that there was supposedly a limited window in a child's life to learn language, lest it would be lost forever. They viewed this as the beginning of puberty as the shutting of this window, even though the human brain continues to develop for around another decade. The most aggravating factor was that they ignored the complications and consequences of her extended abuse. She was starved and suffered continuous physical/emotional trauma to the extent that her entire development was stunted and part of her brain was shrunk. She was in no means 'the forbidden experiment' that had been so desperately sought after. Instead, she was a frightened, wounded child who still found joy in life (she loved classical music and it's theorized she could hear neighborhood kids practicing during her confinement in the afternoons, for example). The linguists pointed to her inability to correctly use grammar while ignoring her ability to communicate through other means the ideas, emotions, needs, and wants people use language for and held her up for years as the masterwork of their hypothesis. And after they were done, they left her to rot, along with the state that did the unspeakable and gave her back to her mother who continued to not treat her well and caused her to backslide more. I sincerely hope the people involved are haunted by their poor decisions for the rest of their lives and that she has at least some peace at this time.
There are far too many sociopathic scientists, usually in the social sciences, that care nothing about the people involved in their experiments and only about twisting evidence to favor their hypothesis in any way possible. It's disturbing in the extreme and they're rewarded by the media time and again for their sociopathy. Not to mention never punished.

We read about Genie in my Sociology class- as an example in a textbook. Hearing about her now, like this, I almost starting crying to hear she’s doing ok, and can communicate through ASL.
You can also see it as a story of resilience. No matter how depraved, violent, and abusive your past is, as long as you are alive you can heal. You can find happiness.
For "Fatal Insomnia" I can't even comprehend it. I can't even understand 72 hour no sleep challenges. When I'm sleepless even for around a day, I go completely haywire. 2-3 days I'd go super-loco.
As someone who suffers from both types of non-fatal insomnia (can't fall asleep, can't stay asleep) I can tell you its definitely not fun; it takes a toll not only on you, but on the people around you. It took about a year for my wife to come to terms with the fact that it wasn't simply that I didn't want to come to bed or that it wasn't me not wanting to be with her. Planning anything in advance becomes a real crap-shoot; I could go days or even weeks with a normal sleep schedule and then I'll hit a spell of insomnia and there's no way (at least that I've discovered) to predict when these bouts will hit or how long they'll last. During them, I don't really have much energy or drive to do anything and it was only after living with this for about a year or two that I started forcing myself to get up and paint, or listen to music, work on some sort of project so that at least I wasn't simply just laying there, trying, and failing, to sleep. The worst part though (at least in my opinion) is that the first time I get any real sleep, I often wind up feeling worse than when I wasn't sleeping or wasn't sleeping for long; its not usually until about the third or fourth consecutive night of getting decent sleep that I start to feel truly better again.

I cant believe she is. After her father even foster homes treated her bad. So much trauma. I guess she never got a husband, no family members, no friends, and so much pain. When she was 18 they moved her back to her mother in the house she grew up in and where all the horror happened. Can you imagine? After her father she was part of experiments, when they didnt need her she went to foster family’s that treated her bad. Her whole life she was abused.
They've done tests on the Isdal woman's teeth and determined a much more exact age. She was actually around 45 years old, which was unexpected. There's a good podcast called Death in Ice Valley about the case.

With the Genie case, the issue with her not improving was more because there were like 5 scientists who were fighting over whose subject she was. They cared so much about their names being famous for her situation that they forgot to treat her like a person. It's really tragic, because she was only improving up until the fighting began.

There is an article with a couple who's murdered 10 yr old daughter was dug up by Anatoly. They had been visiting her grave for 9 years and didn't know she wasn't there. He had been leaving notes at the grave the entire time as well. He truly believed he was doing "good" for the girls he dug up.
Some parents of children he dug up protested against his sentence verdict, one father said "He cared about my dead daughter better than I did". If the US system is anything like the British system for adoption and fostering then the attraction is financial. In the UK you get paid a vast amount of money to foster a child.
Well this is the system you get when you punish the people wanting to adopt. If you want to adopt through foster care they flat tell you it doesnt work like that. You foster and get no say, get to ask no questions and are shamed for not helping children get put back into the care of the people who abused them in the first place. They treat you like a cheap whore and act like the fact you got a check means your square, as if you shouldn't have any interest in the child other than financially. They then act shocked that the only people involved are those only in it for a check. Its untenable to ask people to take in fragile children, love them and help heal them only to have a social worker pick them up from school and place them elsewhere . You find out when the worker shows up to collect their clothes. no goodbyes or visitation for you, your not even allowed to know where they are going or why but that rule is sometimes broken. Only a sociopath could do that more than once, have their heart ripped out like that. Then you get shat on like your the bad person not "putting the kids needs first" bullshit, we all know the foster system doesn't prioritize the well being of children or it wouldn't be placing kids back with abusive parents to die or refusing to split up adoptable and unadoptable siblings groups and allowing babies to languish in care so long they become unadoptable.

I absolutely love Wikipedia. I used to get deep down into lots of different things, often late into the night after my mom left. You can learn about a lot of tiny bits of history that either don't get covered or more in brief. It comforted me to learn about people who had been through hard circumstances and turned out to be really interesting, good people, and I felt like if I figured out where people went wrong when they did I could avoid it myself. My family on my mother's side is Belgian, the Isdal woman definitely does look accordingly Belgian.

I just read a book that a woman living near me wrote about her time in a Siberian work camp. I know it was more horrific than she could possibly bring herself to write about. So sad and upsetting that this happened
I was looking through comments for timestamps or a setlist, just to see if Genie is number 1 in this. Genie's story isn't even the most disturbing I've read (how messed up is that?), but it's easily the most heartwrenching. I forget the name, but the woman who was the inspiration for the baby sitter in the first season episode of The Simpsons "Some Enchanted Evening", including what she let the neighborhood kids do to her victim, was a million times more sickening to me than even the horrific story of Genie. (I'm only up to #4, so for all I know it actually is on the list)
I listen to old Lazy vids to get to sleep sometimes. The music and sound effects make it eerily relaxing and he's got a great voice for relaxation despite the subject material
@@Quitobito oh, no way: I would never make fun of anyone who suffers from any affliction. I know how hard and brutal it is. I dealt from insomnia for YEARS! To self medicate as a pre-teen, for insomnia, anxiety, and depression, I began experimenting with illicit drugs. When I was 14, I started doing heroin. Long story short, in my late teens/early 20s, I got on Methadone, which I'm still on today. I've been clean from heroin for 5 years and 9 months now, and I've been slowly tapering off the juice. Unfortunately for my dumb ass, methadone is harder to withdraw from than heroin. Even just after dropping off my dose amount, I still get tired and loopy. Hence, falling asleep during Lazy's latest upload. It sucks. I don't have much farther to go, relatively, though, and I don't crave the other garbage at all.

You seem like a very strong person although you're going through this. I, myself, smoke a lot of weed which is costing my wallet and I get more paranoid slowly. I smoke almost all day from when I wake up to when I go to bed. Overtime, it's becoming kind of unhealthy. Being dependent on something, could be anything, is bad. No matter how harmless it may be. Idk if it's my mental illnesses but I feel like a hippie smoking it and all my problems fade away. I dabbled in ADHD meds as well but was freaking out on it. Agree with you, OP. That's the theory here in Norway too. All evidence points to her being a spy, and that either her own organisation or their enemy decided to take her out. And the main purpose of burning her was not to kill her or even get rid of the body. It was to destroy the possibility of identifying her. She also did a damned good job of hiding her real identity herself, so we will probably never know who she was. It's frustating, but that's probably the way she would have wanted it.
@@dirtygiraffe it threw me off when it said she had medication..i thought u needed a real identity to get prescriptions but i guess not..i recognized her ring though but it may not help much..the ring is rare its a brutalist style where the prongs and side detail resemble skeleton fingers..its usually a gothic/wiccan ring..i found an old one from then it has a symbol on the inside of the band just a wiccan symbol, and her earrings are vintage or at least victorian style. the ring tripped me out cuz i bought one i was wild about and hadnt found anything like it since and i go thru ebay lots and auctions and estates every day every week and i only found one other ring with an identical setting like that just a different stone

She had at least eight different passports she used while travelling around Norway and Europe, so I guess she used one of those identities when getting the prescription. The sleeping pills was most likely something her killer(s) brought. She didn't have a prescription for them at least. Interesting take on the ring. I'm no expert on jewelry, but it does look like it could be vintage. Could be an heirloom or bought at an auction. If you want to dive deeper into the mystery of the Isdals woman I highly recommend a podcast made by BBC and norwegian NRK in 2018 called "Death in Ice Valley". I wasn't born before 13 years after her death but, as a norwegian and a lover of crime and mystery, this case intrigues me a lot. There's so many questions. Where was she born and what was her childhood like? Her family? What kind of circumstances made her join some sort of secret agency? Who did she work for and what was their motives? Was it her own people who decided she had to be killed, and if so, why? Ah, poor woman. Where ever her soul may be, I hope it's at rest and not troubled anymore.
Something I noticed with the first case. At 4.00 minutes, where the document is shown, she appears to have listed her birthplace as "Ljubliana", presumably the capital city of Slovenia. Since I'm from the same city, I can tell you it's spelled Ljubljana and I've never seen it spelled differently. I might be wrong, and Ljubliana might actually be a common way to spelling the name of the city outside of Slovenia, but if that's not the case, it seems strange to me that she would misspell her own birthplace. Likely, it's a fake birthplace and as other have suggested, she was likely a spy of some sort.

There are a handful languages the second j is dropped (e.g. Spanish). And a handfull more with different alphabets which would be transcriber withtout a 2nd j if they were to be phonetically transcribed to Latin.
I first heard about Genie's story when I bought a book at a garage sale as a kid in the 90s. I still think about her a lot, & hope where ever she is she's found love & care. She could have found a loving home if others hadn't been so focused on their own selfish desires in studying her.

Re: the Isdal woman reportedly smelling like garlic. The consensus on the topic is that it was most likely a patchouli scented perfume or her Eczema medication. A 1/2 full bottle of perfume found in her luggage is called Brigand and contains patchouli. They found an Eczema lotion that had a strong smell as well. At the time garlic was pretty new in the average Scandinavian diet and was largely unknown and/or not used. The person most cited for this observation later confirmed it probably wasn't garlic... I think the story was that his grandmother had showed him garlic a couple weeks back for the first time in his life and the smell was similar enough for him to assume it was garlic. Garlic wasn't used in the Scandinavian area at the time but patchouli was a very popular ingredient to put in cosmetics in Europe.

We studied Genie's case extensively at uni when I was studying to be a teacher. Her real name is Susan Wiley, and while she was in foster care, the progress she made with the linguists unfortunately backslid, mainly because her numerous foster parents didn't even try to help her with her communication. She was also briefly returned to her mother (which is shocking in and of itself) and basically returned to her pre-rescue state. It just breaks my heart that she improved so much and because of money, all that hard work was for nothing. It should be noted as well that Genie's linguistics tutor, Prof. Susan Curtiss, wanted to become Genie's legal guardian when the funding was revoked, because they'd formed a mother/daughter bond during their sessions and they both really cared for each other, but the request was denied.

I remember a couple years ago I truly believed I was developing "fatal insomnia" because I was trying to kick my addiction to opiates. It's a level of physical and psychological pain that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I'm glad I'm clean now and been getting a normal night's sleep since then.

The fatal insomnia one is particularly scary to me because a good friend of mine had a bout of severe insomnia a year or so ago. He couldn't sleep for several days and eventually had to go to the hospital to be induced to sleep. He's okay now thankfully, and it seems to have been caused by stress from work rather than a genetic condition. It was so scary when it happened, I can't even imagine how he must have felt.
I went almost 48 hours without sleep once and it was actually painful. It felt like my soul was trying to leave my body. I can't really describe what I saw or heard because I don't remember much other than feeling heavy and like I was floating at the same time.
Went 5 and half days without sleep taking molly every day for the week definitely not fun. After the 2nd day I just felt really like reality was off and paranoid as hell I didnt want to go outside/talk to anyone, light in general was bothering me to a extreme degeree stayed in my room with the lights off just doing random shit,seeing random shit out the corner of my eye,weird auditory hallucinations. When I finnaly went to sleep I slept for 15 hours straight lol.

The part about Genie's story that will forever piss me off even more than the extreme abuse of her childhood (and that's up there with rage-inducing, to begin with) is that she was used as a science experiment to prove very rigid ideas about language.
Due to her upbringing, she lacked any real exposure to language during the normal years most children learn to speak. She was seen as the 'forbidden experiment' - something that they couldn't in good conscience due to a child (i.e. raise them in a silent environment with no language exposure) - and would allow them to show that there was supposedly a limited window in a child's life to learn language, lest it would be lost forever. They viewed this as the beginning of puberty as the shutting of this window, even though the human brain continues to develop for around another decade.
The most aggravating factor was that they ignored the complications and consequences of her extended abuse. She was starved and suffered continuous physical/emotional trauma to the extent that her entire development was stunted and part of her brain was shrunk. She was in no means 'the forbidden experiment' that had been so desperately sought after. Instead, she was a frightened, wounded child who still found joy in life (she loved classical music and it's theorized she could hear neighborhood kids practicing during her confinement in the afternoons, for example). The linguists pointed to her inability to correctly use grammar while ignoring her ability to communicate through other means the ideas, emotions, needs, and wants people use language for and held her up for years as the masterwork of their hypothesis. And after they were done, they left her to rot, along with the state that did the unspeakable and gave her back to her mother who continued to not treat her well and caused her to backslide more.
I sincerely hope the people involved are haunted by their poor decisions for the rest of their lives and that she has at least some peace at this time.
I honestly think that after Genie's story is about the same time that people advocated for Child Protection Services.

We read about Genie in my Sociology class- as an example in a textbook. Hearing about her now, like this, I almost starting crying to hear she’s doing ok, and can communicate through ASL.
You can also see it as a story of resilience. No matter how depraved, violent, and abusive your past is, as long as you are alive you can heal. You can find happiness.

For "Fatal Insomnia" I can't even comprehend it. I can't even understand 72 hour no sleep challenges. When I'm sleepless even for around a day, I go completely haywire. 2-3 days I'd go super-loco.
As someone who suffers from both types of non-fatal insomnia (can't fall asleep, can't stay asleep) I can tell you its definitely not fun; it takes a toll not only on you, but on the people around you. It took about a year for my wife to come to terms with the fact that it wasn't simply that I didn't want to come to bed or that it wasn't me not wanting to be with her. Planning anything in advance becomes a real crap-shoot; I could go days or even weeks with a normal sleep schedule and then I'll hit a spell of insomnia and there's no way (at least that I've discovered) to predict when these bouts will hit or how long they'll last. During them, I don't really have much energy or drive to do anything and it was only after living with this for about a year or two that I started forcing myself to get up and paint, or listen to music, work on some sort of project so that at least I wasn't simply just laying there, trying, and failing, to sleep. The worst part though (at least in my opinion) is that the first time I get any real sleep, I often wind up feeling worse than when I wasn't sleeping or wasn't sleeping for long; its not usually until about the third or fourth consecutive night of getting decent sleep that I start to feel truly better again.

When she was 18 they moved her back to her mother in the house she grew up in and where all the horror happened. Can you imagine?

They've done tests on the Isdal woman's teeth and determined a much more exact age. She was actually around 45 years old, which was unexpected. There's a good podcast called Death in Ice Valley about the case.

With the Genie case, the issue with her not improving was more because there were like 5 scientists who were fighting over whose subject she was. They cared so much about their names being famous for her situation that they forgot to treat her like a person. It's really tragic, because she was only improving up until the fighting began.

There is an article with a couple who's murdered 10 yr old daughter was dug up by Anatoly. They had been visiting her grave for 9 years and didn't know she wasn't there. He had been leaving notes at the grave the entire time as well. He truly believed he was doing "good" for the girls he dug up.
Apparently she was his favourite. Poor girl couldn't even be left to rest peacefully.
Some parents of children he dug up protested against his sentence verdict, one father said "He cared about my dead daughter better than I did". He was sent to the mental hospital when they mentally (and most likely physically) killed him when he caused no harm to anyone. He could've been a professor of some kind

Not to mention the absolute worst (IMO) those that farm medically complicated children (usually several at a time) for govt checks that cover food, clothing, transportation and a laundry list of allowances for daily, monthly and annual upkeep not to mention regular funds for holidays, multiple vacations and foster parent-only paid "getaways" when in reality all most of them do is peddle them off to the local school system medical staff or equivalent day program and park them in front of a TV at night.
If the US system is anything like the British system for adoption and fostering then the attraction is financial. In the UK you get paid a vast amount of money to foster a child.
Well this is the system you get when you punish the people wanting to adopt. If you want to adopt through foster care they flat tell you it doesnt work like that. You foster and get no say, get to ask no questions and are shamed for not helping children get put back into the care of the people who abused them in the first place. They treat you like a cheap whore and act like the fact you got a check means your square, as if you shouldn't have any interest in the child other than financially. They then act shocked that the only people involved are those only in it for a check. Its untenable to ask people to take in fragile children, love them and help heal them only to have a social worker pick them up from school and place them elsewhere . You find out when the worker shows up to collect their clothes. no goodbyes or visitation for you, your not even allowed to know where they are going or why but that rule is sometimes broken. Only a sociopath could do that more than once, have their heart ripped out like that. Then you get shat on like your the bad person not "putting the kids needs first" bullshit, we all know the foster system doesn't prioritize the well being of children or it wouldn't be placing kids back with abusive parents to die or refusing to split up adoptable and unadoptable siblings groups and allowing babies to languish in care so long they become unadoptable.

I think it usually develops somewhere in between 40s and 50s if either of your parents carry the genes, which is terrifying since the few cases I’ve read about had patients who had no idea that they carried the genes for it since their parents were asymptomatic.

I absolutely love Wikipedia. I used to get deep down into lots of different things, often late into the night after my mom left. You can learn about a lot of tiny bits of history that either don't get covered or more in brief. It comforted me to learn about people who had been through hard circumstances and turned out to be really interesting, good people, and I felt like if I figured out where people went wrong when they did I could avoid it myself.

I was looking through comments for timestamps or a setlist, just to see if Genie is number 1 in this. Genie's story isn't even the most disturbing I've read (how messed up is that?), but it's easily the most heartwrenching.
I forget the name, but the woman who was the inspiration for the baby sitter in the first season episode of The Simpsons "Some Enchanted Evening", including what she let the neighborhood kids do to her victim, was a million times more sickening to me than even the horrific story of Genie.

I dealt from insomnia for YEARS! To self medicate as a pre-teen, for insomnia, anxiety, and depression, I began experimenting with illicit drugs. When I was 14, I started doing heroin.
Long story short, in my late teens/early 20s, I got on Methadone, which I'm still on today. I've been clean from heroin for 5 years and 9 months now, and I've been slowly tapering off the juice. Unfortunately for my dumb ass, methadone is harder to withdraw from than heroin.
Even just after dropping off my dose amount, I still get tired and loopy. Hence, falling asleep during Lazy's latest upload. It sucks. I don't have much farther to go, relatively, though, and I don't crave the other garbage at all.

I, myself, smoke a lot of weed which is costing my wallet and I get more paranoid slowly. I smoke almost all day from when I wake up to when I go to bed. Overtime, it's becoming kind of unhealthy. Being dependent on something, could be anything, is bad. No matter how harmless it may be. Idk if it's my mental illnesses but I feel like a hippie smoking it and all my problems fade away. I dabbled in ADHD meds as well but was freaking out on it. Got addicted for a few months but forced myself to stop. Been clean for a year of that.
Really though, I hope you get better and I hope for myself also. Keeping you in my thoughts 🙏🏼💓

She had at least eight different passports she used while travelling around Norway and Europe, so I guess she used one of those identities when getting the prescription. The sleeping pills was most likely something her killer(s) brought. She didn't have a prescription for them at least.

I wasn't born before 13 years after her death but, as a norwegian and a lover of crime and mystery, this case intrigues me a lot. There's so many questions. Where was she born and what was her childhood like? Her family? What kind of circumstances made her join some sort of secret agency? Who did she work for and what was their motives? Was it her own people who decided she had to be killed, and if so, why?
Ah, poor woman. Where ever her soul may be, I hope it's at rest and not troubled anymore.

Something I noticed with the first case. At 4.00 minutes, where the document is shown, she appears to have listed her birthplace as "Ljubliana", presumably the capital city of Slovenia. Since I'm from the same city, I can tell you it's spelled Ljubljana and I've never seen it spelled differently. I might be wrong, and Ljubliana might actually be a common way to spelling the name of the city outside of Slovenia, but if that's not the case, it seems strange to me that she would misspell her own birthplace. Likely, it's a fake birthplace and as other have suggested, she was likely a spy of some sort.

Re: the Isdal woman reportedly smelling like garlic.
The consensus on the topic is that it was most likely a patchouli scented perfume or her Eczema medication.
A 1/2 full bottle of perfume found in her luggage is called Brigand and contains patchouli. They found an Eczema lotion that had a strong smell as well.
At the time garlic was pretty new in the average Scandinavian diet and was largely unknown and/or not used. The person most cited for this observation later confirmed it probably wasn't garlic... I think the story was that his grandmother had showed him garlic a couple weeks back for the first time in his life and the smell was similar enough for him to assume it was garlic.
Garlic wasn't used in the Scandinavian area at the time but patchouli was a very popular ingredient to put in cosmetics in Europe.
At first I found it odd that someone with eczema would wear perfume, but apparently patchouli is known to sooth dry skin, so it might not be weird.

My dad was subjected to some of the mind control experiments during his military career. He was a WW2 veteran so back then they could get away with a lot more then. He rarely spoke of his military career. He married my mom 2 years before his retirement. After his death I found journals, it was mind boggling what he experienced!

Funny, I was thinking the same thing when he said it. Bergen(and most parts of western Norway) are known for the almost endless rain, not the cold.
But ofcourse, a name like "Ice Valley" gives the impression of a cold and icy place.
My guess would be that the valley got its name because at some point there was a part of a glacier there, but it's only a guess.

The "Genie" entry reminded me of a movie that I once saw on TV - one I had been looking for for YEARS and remembered the plot of, but not the title. So yeah, thank you for allowing me to rediscover the movie "Mockingbird Don't Sing" - a movie based off of the Genie case (though her name is changed to Katie in the film)

28:15 Genie... In college, I took a sociology class and we covered Genie for a good week; possibly week and a half. What an interesting yet sad story. Imagine if the funding was available to socialize her? She could have been communicating and interacting much like a person who was brought up in a "normal" household setting. I was intrigued by this and a feral boy from the early 1900's (?). It was a strange story and I can't remember anything except the story, short as it was: In a nut-shell, a doctor/ man found a wild/ feral boy in the woods and attempted to socialize him. I don't remember the in-between but a short while later, he gave up and let the boy go back to where he found him. Sad, very sad. See if you could find it, Lazy. It could be a Genie/ Wildboy video.
