I have what they call “vestibular migraine” I 100% absurb myself in the mind body approach. I have been following Dan for so long and you have taught me how to deal with the low symptom days. I literally sit back except the feeling, take a few deep breaths. Tell myself I’m ok. And carry on. You may not take about spirituality but my lord Jesus definitely led me to you ❤

Man this video was a home run for me. It literally described me perfectly. The more I try to fix fix fix, it just feels like I sabotage myself. I didn’t understand why and now I do. Thank you Dan and Kimberly for this awesome conversation that I needed. And if anyone has this self sabotaging obsessive fixing tendency, know you are not alone, I have experienced it so horribly intense just like Kimberly. Let’s not give up guys. Love yall

Thank you so much for this! It really helped me understand that I was still doing too much to teach my brain safety. Less is more in this case. When your brain can understand that you don’t give a hoot is when the symptoms will subside. All the extra methods, ie; breath work, meditation…. can be used for self care, as long as there is a clear understanding that you are not doing them to fix yourself. This can signal the brain that you think something is still wrong.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  ปีที่แล้ว +5

Yes, exactly. For me, I would only do those breathwork and meditation practices if I would do them even without ever having had symptoms.

I was referred to an ENT specialist because I was chronically dizzy. He diagnosed me with "Vertigo" which is just the Latin word for "dizzy". I said to him, "Let me get this straight. I come to you because I'm dizzy and all you're doing is diagnosing me with my symptom in Latin?" With a straight face he said, "No, that's not all... I'm also going to prescribe Antivert for you" which only made me dizzier because there was no physical cause for my dizziness so I was taking a medication for a physical condition I did not have which is why it caused more harm than good.

Oh my gosh. I am filled with such gratitude that I have found this information. I have suffered with multiple pain and vestibular issues over the past 13 years and I feel like I found the way to deal with it by not resisting and by telling myself it’s OK you can get through this. For years, I had very few symptoms, and then last summer suffered a pretty traumatic experience, and since then my body has been flaring like crazy. I don’t think I could accept this TMS idea without having done all the acceptance work that I did for so many years but for sure, I was doing the exact same things as Kimberly was doing, and therefore sending the message to my brain that I will have these conditions forever. Thank you and I am so excited and filled with hope.

Thanks Dan for this FREE COACHING.
    TIP- CHANGE THE STORY
The story that set the brain 🧠 and nervous system in fear ,anxiety, DANGER MOOD in the first place is something is wrong with me.
CHANGE IT TO - nothing is wrong with me .
Change your thoughts to thoughts that SERVES YOU.
If a thought scares you STOP , BREATH DEEPLY AND SLOWLY AND SAY
I USE TO BELIEVE THAT (the doctor, they say , Google say ,my genes or generics is , i will never be feeling pain-free or sensation free ect) to NOTHING IS WRONG WITH ME (now start to reverse what you USE to believe to
I am now choosing to NOW believe NOTHING IS WRONG WITH ME, ITS MY BRAIN 🧠 AND NERVOUS SYSTEM PRECEVING DANGER. I AM OK.
    Thanks again Dan ❤❤❤❤❤

Amazing coaching/recovery video. I feel like you’re talking to me.
I had an enlightenment moment, when Kimberly talked about childhood trauma. I have pain symptoms that are obviously due to my brain feeling unsafe, but I realized that weight is another symptom of a scared brain. I’ve dealt with weight since i was 12 because being thin brought unwanted attention from certain people who’d terrified me as a child. It’s all the same thing. Safety allows the body to let go of symptoms.

Waaahhh this what u say is exactly how my diziness, pppd, started. And i also thought it was a neurological problem!!! I was 3 years busy fixing, thinking, searching, scared as ...and than developed more and more processing issues in my brain (feel this as eye issues, looking around is tough because my brain is confused/ tired/ delayed?) and me being very vigilant on this delayed sensation i feel all the time!
And i thought it was all coming from my eyes since the beginning (3 years ago)..but now...i guess i am thinking...maybe it was exactly this where it started...
like you said: first i had burnout stuff, later some spinning issues that turned into pppd. The first times spinning was definately me thinking oh no...what is happening...scared...and than more and more dizzy and so pppd....and THAN the eyes/ brain started to become difficult..so...
maybe for me it was always just me...scaring my brain so much all the time...and was and still is, this my whole & only issue...me being afraid of these symptoms...
    What do u think Dan..
The diziness yes i am sure.
The processing/ delay stuff i feel when moving around... when you read my story..
would you think this is the result of a scared brain thats vigilant and really feeling all things like the normal "delay" that is there when my brain has to process things?
Like : seeing something and than feeling the "normal" process that goes in my head from eyes to nerves to brain, to nerves and to eye muscles (that sharpen the eyes to see the image properly) again. And feel this normal delay so vigilant/ sensitive that i feel off because of this...
Or / and would you think its just now the brain being so tired that, it is slow with processing stuff, because brain is so exhausted, or and busy being scared...Or do you think the cause is different..
Love your opinion on this delay stuff
    .....🙏🥰

I believe that any sensation can become learned. With more fear and attention it sticks around and can intensify and other symptoms can develop. I have never heard of a case where teaching our brains not to be fearful of our experience with accurate knowledge and messages of safety was anything other than beneficial. My fast start playlist gives a solid foundation for what is going on and what to do about it.

@@ariannesmakman5639 God, I have the exact same thing going on, this weird feeling with my vision and how I percieve it and the constant dizziness…I’ve just accepted that it’s all TMS since nothing else could help me, no meds, no glasses, nothing. It also started the same way…I freaked out every time I felt something strange in me head or my eyes, then the spinning was the cherry on top. I believe that our anxiety and panic keep it going. When I’m doing something I really like, I usually don’t feel symptoms at all, but they always come back because I look for them once I realized that they’re gone. Keep hoping and follow Dan. ❤ I’m with you, I feel you…

I hope my brain and nervous system can come out of what I think is STRESS OVERWHELM, loss of my mum - only companion pet had to be rehomed and now having to deal with tests for a potential health problem that living with daily is quite unpleasant. I find the depressive and anxious thoughts are increasing and my already miserable days ( groundhog) are getting me down. I guess I hate my situation - so its tough to be in a place of peace, I need to find peace, not sure yet how. Not having the one special person who was on my wave length and me also on hers.. that is a huge shock i~ also early days only 4 months since my mum died -I think I am overwhelmed by the losses and the potential problems I am facing where I cannot easily deal with life. I don't want to give up of course that is not an option...I am still listening - so I shall listen over again as well. I guess I am concerned I won't get any interest back in life, I am rather numb in between the horrible dark thoughts and despair.

MdDS is a neurological condition (I dislike the term 'disorder' but understand why it is used), whatever Dan says and I've had it on and off for the last 20 years. I am in remission again now and remain very grateful to the researchers, especially the late Dr Dai and the researchers who have experienced MdDS themselves. I found some of this interesting and helpful but I felt it was slightly (and, I'm sure, unintentionally) disparaging to those researchers and to people who facilitate MdDS support groups which are not the dangerous parts of town.
Kimberley, I hope you get more remission soon and that eventually you will be free of your symptoms completely. If I could send you my remission as easily as I can type this, I would :) To me you embody trauma growth and the work you've done for VeDA is great, as is your work on behalf of Dylan and many others. I would be interested in your thoughts about medications for MdDS compared to the other treatment modalities.
Re PPPD we need an easy way to record a misdiagnosis of it and I feel it is wrong that people with an accurate dx of MdDS have had their dx changed to PPPD without any further consultations taking place. After the publication of the FND Subtypes paper Prof Escamez tweeted: ‘Please, explore patients with dizziness before labelling them with PPPD. Many of them have a vestibular disorder’
After Prof Kaski published something about PPPD one of the UK researchers tweeted:
‘an imperfect or broad term is more clear and useful than none, so long as people understand it as such and are working to refine it.’ I am not convinced that this is being conveyed to patients or their doctors or that patients would agree that being diagnosed via an imperfect or broad term is ‘useful’.
Prof O’Leary also tweeted: ‘FND ed is terribly reckless, so practise is reckless’ and that rang true with me.

Everyone agrees that neither FND or PPPD should be given as a ‘dustbin’ diagnosis but that is still happening on both counts, in some clinics. I remain unclear about why people with symptoms that are not psychiatric (IE those with a PPPD dx) are being lumped under FND, which is currently conceptualised as a neuropsychiatric condition.
Since bean counting is a big deal in many health care systems it was disappointing to see no data about people deemed to be in the FND Subtypes (eg those who have been diagnosed with PPPD) in the recent economic costs of FND and, as far as I can tell, they didn't look into the costs for people who have been given 'dustbin' FND or PPPD diagnoses either.

You are allowed to have your own opinion, but I believe this paradigm is flawed. I hope nobody takes this too seriously because it’s clear that your experience is highly medicalized, and uses the medical system’s current ‘evidence’ to justify more fear, labels, and broken-ness. Their limited understanding of how perceived danger works is making people suffer - as is the view that the mind and body should be treated separately. The use of intelligent sounding technical terms and labels is not helping you or anyone suffering from these conditions, and just perpetuates them by making it sound more scary and serious to the subconscious brains’ of the people experiencing it. Whoever reads this, know that you are ok and not broken. Do not identify with having a neurological condition. Just because your brain is causing this doesn’t mean it isn’t working the way it was designed. Keep sending those consistent messages of safety and you will feel like yourself again in time!

@@johnmsedlak Would you tell someone with migraine not to identify as having a neurological condition? Also, I am in remission from MdDS and didn't get remission because I was sending consistent messages of safety. However I do agree that the mind and body should not be treated separately and, thankfully, my GP and neurologist take that view, too.

hey Bob. I don't know much about this condition you have been diagnosed with. However, pain is created by a brain perceiving danger. The more of a panic you are in, possibly due to the scary diagnosis, the more likely it was for the pain and symptoms to increase. Watch all the videos in my fast start playlist. And watch again and again. Drill these concepts in and begin to focus on teaching your brain safety as described in the videos.

Stress triggers are tough so I really feel for you but treatment and some symptom resolution should still be possible for you. If you have a decent neurologist or psychiatrist you could ask about vagus nerve stimulation (if you haven't already) or TMS.
Everyone agrees that PPPD shouldn't be given as a wastebasket diagnosis (and the same re FND, of which it's a subset) but that does continue to happen, unfortunately, possibly because people are being diagnosed with it on the basis of a second episode of 'dizziness' alone and sometimes before they've even walked through the door. People with this label have also found that investigations into other issues (visual health, CSF leaks etc) are either being denied or delayed which could cause iatrogenic harm. After Kaski published a paper about it (I can't remember which one) Prof O'Leary tweeted 'FND ed is terribly reckless, so practice is reckless' which resonated with me. An ENT I spoke with recently said he wouldn't diagnose it unless he had to because 'it could stop other doctors looking for other things' and I admire him for that.
I don't consider MdDS to be a wastebasket diagnosis since it was only a few years ago that a consortium of researchers won the Frontiers in Science spotlight award (which covers all areas of science) partly as a result of their research into MdDS. This event was their prize mssm.cloud-cme.com/…/MS_Yahr_Bro_2019_8%20-%20Final… and there has been plenty of good quality research into MdDS done since then.

(I believe this was SVT) for a long time I worried about it and the fear stopped me working out and even getting out of bed.
Blood work shows no major problems and ecg shows ventricular ectopics and occasional bigeminy, they said I don’t have murmurs. They wanted me on beta blockers until my MRI in 8 months time but I refuse to take them.
I’ve had anxiety for most my life and for the last 7 years I’ve done so much research in to the heart and related organs that could be causing my condition that I’ve perhaps programmed my brain that there’s something severely wrong.
I could be fine all day but as soon as I eat the process of eating increases my heart rate and it starts flip flopping out my chest and it can last for several hours afterwards and then it just stops.
It’s stopped me working out and everything and made me fall in to a pit I can’t get out of.
I’ve started spraying magnesium on as well are all deficient and a lack of it can be responsible for anxiety and heart related conditions and it does seem to help. The thing with anxiety and a panic response is it throws if electrolyte balance and this can itself cause irregular heartbeats!

I moved to a tiny island for three years to escape fear & anxiety St John USVI on the very remote side back in 1993. Living in a tropical island is very different from being on vacation for a week or two - there is no room service no maids no full days off -:u have to work at a job & deal with incredible amount of inefficiencies cultural differences that may cause stress & different types of dangerous situations - if u do not know it is TMS - then u will get worse even on an island - 😂

All that indicates is that the perception of danger has been consistent for 9 years daily. Symptoms will settle down when you feel safe.
