- An update on one of my most watched videos: Two years ago updated my bed with Brooklinen Bedding and I received a lot of questions about my thoughts. So today, and update on my bedding, my thoughts on Brooklinen AND my thought on my brand new mattress From Tuft+Needle.

Thank you so much! I am researching Brooklinen right now! I have a sheet set on the way, and am thinking of getting a bundle that includes the duvet and comforter with an extra set of sheets because we have a new king size bed in which we need bedding! I love the colors you choose!

I do find them to be quite nice. I recently went to a Parachute shop to feel some of their sheets ... considering splurge on the brushed cotton and reviewing them in a future video (my obsession with sheets might be getting a bit out of hand). I haven't pulled the trigger yet because I have two sets of Brooklinen that I really like and feel a little silly buying yet another set of sheets.

I’ve only ever had cheap target sheets...I really want to try nice sheets but I don’t know how much of a comfort difference it will make. Thoughts? Thoughts 💭

Chelsea Allen thank you so much 😊 For me, nice sheets always seemed worth it. After a long day, there’s something super relaxing about getting into a bed with butter, smooth sheets and my pillows and the fluffy duvet. I like to unwind before bed by getting all cosy under the cover, prop myself up a bit with my pillows and read with a cup of tea. You don’t need to go super expensive to get sheet that will give you that extra comfort. I use to buy sheets from target and I usually went with something a bit mid-range and Egyptian cotton. Always worth touching a fabric before buying when possible. I sometimes took sheet partially out of the wrapping at the store so I could see how it feels. I spend enough time during my night routine being in bed while still awake, having sheets I actively enjoy getting into has been worth it.

Also, targets have amazinggg bedding and all that. You just have to know what your looking for (and order online). I love their linen curtains for kids room
hey i bought the luxe line and at first i was really impressed with the ultra silky and soft feel of the sheets but after just washing it once before even using it, they seem rough and scratchy and lost all the silk-like texture and shine. did i do something wrong? i washed on cold delicate setting and dried it on low heat with a anti static/softner sheet. or is this normal? kind of wishing i didnt wash it to keep that orignal texture
My experience is the luxe sheets do get softer after washing than when they are first out of package. I get more of the crisp feel back when I iron my sheets after taking them from the dryer, which I often do even if they aren’t wrinkled. I’ve never experienced the sheet coming out “rough” or “scratchy”. Mine have only gotten softer with age. The percale sheets stay more crisp (my mom actually preferred the percale over the luxe). You can always contact customer service and see if they will exchange them if you think something went wrong with your sheets.
I personally never use anti static/softener sheets. I was taught that that isn’t great for fabrics (though I haven’t research it so I don’t really know how true that is or why, but a lot of companies say not to use them when washing your sheets or towels). I use cold water when washing, shake my sheets out before putting them in the dryer (helps prevent wrinkles) and then dry in my regular setting with wool dryer balls (you can put essential oils on the dryer balls if you want to add scent).

@@bearstearn3 I use wool dryer balls and put a little essential oil on the ball before tossing them in the dryer if I want to add a bit scent like lavender.
Just curious what are some of the jobs you’ve had in the past/ how do you earn money now?
I’ve actually always earned the majority of my money as a writer. I have a degree in journalism and communication and started off working in magazines and then a newspaper reporter and editor. Eventual I made the jump into advertising/creative. Currently, I have freelance clients and a blog, but my main job is as a Senior Copywriter for a large global advertising agency.
I'm viewing reviews on the tube to help me rationalize paying this high price on bed linen. If it fails I'll curse you in my non-sleep
is there a huge difference between Brooklinen lux line vs ikea or even Costco sateen 680 count sheets?
I can’t speak to Costco cause I’ve never bought sheets there, but I have bought sheets from IKEA and Target Egyptian cotton. The difference in feel when they are new isn’t as big but over time, I’ve found the Brooklinen remained nice longer.
I would also say my Brooklinen held up better than my Parachute brushed cotton sheets (which are more expensive and very soft but discolored fast)
@@GretchenHasTheFloor so the hype is real and not all just good marketing? Just wondering if these online brands are actually premium quality vs the major department brands. On the fence atm to buy the luxe hardcore bundle while it’s on sale for Black Friday
@@bearstearn3 I think they are worth it. Over the past 2 years I’ve tried a lot of higher-end brands (Parachute brushed cotton, Parachute linen, the Citizenry linen, both West Elm and Potter Barn’s version of eucalyptus sheets) and the Brooklinen is what my husband and I keep coming back to as our favorite. Prior to splurging on the Brooklinen, I had higher thread count sheets from target and it’s harder to compare them to the Brooklinen because they were getting old and the color had bleached (sunny bedroom window).
I can say that I really like mine and I’ve had my first pair since 2017. The cotton has held up beautifully. They wash really well (i find washing with cold water is better for the fibers) and the color still looks good 5 years in. I would recommend the Brooklinen over the other brands I’ve tried so far.

Do these sheets wrinkle?
Not really. They’d wrinkle if you like wad them up and shoved in a closest instead of folding but they don’t come out of the wash/dryer wrinkled nor do they get super wrinkled from sleeping on them (I do make my bed when I get up so they don’t sit unmade on the bed long). I recently pulled my grey set back out of my linen closet to put on my bed and they weren’t wrinkled at all and any creasing from folding smoothed right out.
You have 8 blOOdy pillows on your bed!
Yep! Though with my current setup I actually only hate 7. Pillows are a “to each there own”. I love having a pile of pillows. I think it’s comfy for naps and I like the pillows to help take up some empty space in the bed when my partner is out of town. But when sleeping we usually remove about half the pillows.

I bought the Lux sheet set. They are not as soft or heavy as advertised. They are definitely not worth $150 for a twin set. Maybe $70.
My experience was that the sheets were soft and continued to get softer with age. We used our grey lux sheets for many years as one of our primary sets. I did recently replaced them but that was because I had a medical emergency and the sheets ended up being a casualty of the emergency. For the amount of years of use we got from our set, we found it well worth the price. (Though my wiliness to spend money on more expensive bedding is obviously fairly high-everyone has their things they like to spend money on that other people would find ridiculous. To each their own 🙂)
