    Kind of sad that it seems like no one takes the animal cruelty aspect of down into consideration. Geese are often plucked alive and made to live in terrible conditions in the down industry. Please keep this in mind when making the decision as well. There are so many great options out there without paying someone to harm other living beings🙌

    This channel really has great reviews and talking about bed items that go beyond just the mattress. I've never seen a review comparing down alternatives to down comforters. Being someone who has allergies, I Now understand why my parents growing up never bought me a down comforter. I also love the idea of having a duvet! Great video keep up the good work and stay safe

    This is the video I have been waiting for!! But now i don’t know which one is better for me , I want a fluffy, breathable ,cool and hypoallergenic long lasting comforter. So is there any good options for that ? I really want to try the down alternative comforter from Brooklinen but I haven’t found a good review video on it. Hint hint

      which ever one you choose, if you are a hot sleeper or get night sweats kasentex down alternative isn't good it gets sweltering hot even in the harshest of winters.

      the down seems better then down alternative, but its not worth it since animals are killed for the down comforter, industries and people have no empathy, we live a world where a lot of evil is hidden from the public

    I love down, but it is so difficult to wash and maintain. I have down coats. Those I deal with. The down alternative is great for a comforter.

  • @wmd40

    I really don't think down alternative is very easy to clean. It can ruin the feel of the comforter and it moves A LOT unless it's baffled boxes

  • @saturnslipper
    @saturnslipper 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    You mentioned we might find buying down unethical. Wow is it ever. The cruelty involved in "collecting" the down is pretty horrible to watch. Birds are generally plucked alive, and left in pain, with dark red skin & "naked". I'm guessing at least as painful as having most of your hairs plucked out at one time. I'm so relieved to have a better option. Love the fact that synthetic down is so much easier to clean. I also liked the point that they are less expensive. Great review, as usual.

    Aside from the actual fill, I have found that the method of sonstruction is almost more imporatnt. Opt for baffle square designs rather than channel baffles if you trulyb want and overall even fill.

    I definitely prefer down alternative. I wouldn't buy a down comforter for all the reasons you listed like allergies and easier cleaning. I also find I dont like a thick fluffy comforter anyways, even in winter.

    I think I will stick with the down alternative simply for the cleaning factor. It's nice to be able to throw the comforter in the washing machine and dryer for a quick clean. I just wish they wernt less breathable as the down comforters but having a few with different thicknesses could help during different seasons.

    Great review. I have allergies which are year round. In light of the fact that I can wear my down jacket, I have no reaction to it's down fill. It also depends on the fabric the down is packed into. I own both a down and down alternative comforter and can use both depending on weather. Again, great information!

    The fact that you can't wash down comforters should be the reason to chose the alternative, imagine washing with wet wipes instead of showering or wiping your butt with toilet paper instead of using a bidet, now imagine not washing your underwear and just wiping them with a damp rag, good luck with that.

    • @SerenityMegami
      @SerenityMegami 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A duvet cover is my choice as well. However, my question then is does having a down fill cause allergen issues? Or does having a duvet cover help with that? I'm still pretty new to the duvet concept myself. Always thought there was just comforters, quilts, and such.

    • @vivianpham9675
      @vivianpham9675 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically everything contains animal products or byproducts. Even electronics. The feathers from down comforters are often just picked up from the ground. So it doesn’t go to waste when animals shed

    • @lenaeggler6304
      @lenaeggler6304 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@vivianpham9675 that’s simply not true, the majority of down products come from down farms. Lots of undercover video footage shows employees on goose farms pulling fistfuls of feathers out of live birds, often causing bloody wounds as the animals shriek in terror. The frightened animals are often squeezed upside down between workers’ knees during the painful procedure-in one instance, an investigator photographed a worker who was sitting on a goose’s neck in order to prevent her from escaping.
      Live plucking causes birds considerable pain and distress. Once their feathers are ripped out, many of the birds, paralyzed with fear, are left with gaping wounds-some even die as a result of the procedure. Workers often sew the birds’ skin back together without using any anesthetics.
      Please don’t spew lies about such things.

      Get a down duvet and use a duvet cover so you can wash the cover at least once a week. Best option for any type of comforter honestly.

    Down comforter all the way. I love the fluff!!! It might cost more but it will last in the long run though. Also less suffocating

  • @lorieoneil5423
    @lorieoneil5423 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Down is probably the better choice for me it will be warmer fluffier and more money than the alternative I will probably use a duvet as you can not put it in the wash machine at home.

    DOWN. I did not watch but once I went down in comforter and pillows I will never ever ever go back to down alternative. It’s expensive but it will last forever. I would argue that if you were going to splurge on anything in your bed first down pillows then down comforter then sheets.

  • @memememe3814

    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT BUY DOWN COMFORTERS. The process of 'collecting' the feathers is incredibly inhumane.
    Down alternative is wonderful in every way. Easy to clean, comfortable, hypo-allergenic, and affordable.

      Not in every case, actually most down produced is as a byproduct of the meat industry; that said, it's hard to find a company you can trust to be telling you the truth. Eider down (ultra-expensive) is gathered from their nests once they are abandoned.

    Ill take the down alternative, so the down can stay on the animal, where it belongs. People are truly sick and only think of their own comfort. Never even crosses their mind what these birds go through.
