- RM Auctions, in association with Sothebys made history in Maranello today (May 17) as a 1957 Ferrari 250 TR, chassis no. 0714TR sold for €9,020,000 at the third annual Ferrari Leggenda e Passione event to set a new world record for the most expensive motor car ever to be sold at auction.
Returning to its Maranello birthplace for its auction debut, the €9,020,000 sale price represents €1,980,000 more than the previous auction world record which was set at the same sale last year.
The Ferrari Leggenda e Passione is the only auction of its kind dedicated to the Ferrari marque, held at the Maranello factory grounds and endorsed by the Ferrari factory.
Further information will be posted online at www.rmauctions.com
What a bargain !!!!
Helped prep.the car at Symbolic Motorcar in San Diego....
Amazing investment
The final sale was €9,020,000 as the 10% buyers premium is included in the final sale price. This is consistent with how all auction sale prices are reported.
I feel for the dude in the car, having to drive it away without stalling it or bumping into any walls.
A lot more NOW 2024
I wish ppl nowadays can appreciate cars like the old times, many people nowadays buy their cars and customize it

Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe .
the dude in that car will spend the rest of his life wondering : "why didn't you steal the car" "why didn't you steal the car" "why didn't you steal the car" "why didn't you steal the car" he won't be able to look himself in the mirror no more
what the hell would they do if they do if the guy in the car dropped his gum on the seat?
WOW!!!!!! FORZA FERRARI!!! :))
They should hire the auctioneer from Barret-Jackson, would spice things up.
were in no rush?? this is the exact opposite of B.J.
i was just thinking you could buy THOUSANDS of cars for that no just hundreds but thousands of cars think of the room you would need to store them all!
RM Auction exemplifies class in a way that barret jackson or miecum auctions could ever dream to do. Total different sector in the market. Cristies and RM are for high end european tastes. Miecum and barret specializes in american muscle era. Stlye of auction is different. For me personally, I am totally turned off by the fast pace screaming of miecum auctioneers. Appears to attract and appeal more of the non-sophisticated audiences.
Last year (may 2010), a Bugatti 57SC Atlantic coupé was sold for more than 30 millions dollars...
