DeBoer isn’t on the hot seat, but he definitely needs to grow a pair and start changing pieces that aren’t working. QB should’ve been changed after week 6, OC needs to go. Bunch of selfish players on the team.
Not saying their should’ve been a change but definitely a competition Milroe knew he was starting all season and never showed that he could throw the ball against great defenses besides Georgia
agree. The QB seemed to have too much power. Like the staff was afraid of benching him bc it would divide the team. The roster needs to turnover. He didn't recruit most of these kids (including Milroe). Until he has a couple classes on the team hes not on the hot seat provided something crazy happens.
finally someone speaking the truth. People out here saying DeBoer sucks. He's not bad. He just need to adjust. 9-4 is not bad. I think people forget how bad Saban did his first year.

ok? Alabama has the #1 composite roster in terms of talent and is out the playoffs. out an EXPANDED playoffs and lost to Vanderbilt. Penn State doesn’t even have a top 10 composite roster and is in the final four. James Franklin hasn’t won a big game since 2016. think about that so he’s in the best situation possible and had less at Washington, and went to the championship. that is inexcusable
Any think there’s A CHANCE that next year ESPN doesn’t pick a song that makes your ears bleed for their college football theme? Just use the classic ESPN stinger, ffs.
Every conference has paid and still paying players. It’s been going on since college football became popular. Get off your high horse, you team has always paid!
@@cooldudecs Not sure what you are getting at but a quick web search showed bama had between 11 and 23 players apply to the portal last year. Assuming these were all blue chippers, that should make a difference. The coach could be in over his head also but college football has changed a ton in the last few years and some people are still trying to catch up.
That's changed a lot of things but it didn't make duke and others any better yet in spite of those changes Alabama didn't gain advantage and that is dude to poor coaching and recruiting at Alabama. Deboer is Jimbo Fisher 2.0 it's pretty easy to see that his "super power" was a dude by the name of Ryan Grubb who's now coaching in the NFL. Just like Jimbo, Deboer got it all handed to him by a winning program. Now he can't live up to they hype and I think it's time for him to go -- NIL, transfer portal or not. We don't like his coaching... thats our complaint. And why would anyone want to get "used to" things wrecking the sport?
disagree on 3, they definitely showed fire/grit a few times this year. We'll see if they can improve 1 and 2 next year. And not to throw Milroe under the bus completely cuz he's a good kid but a better QB should help things. You can't turn the ball over 3 times in a quarter.
@@EB-bl6ccThe WRs reactions tell you all you need to know. Just need someone who can distribute the ball consistently and make the easy plays look easy instead of nearly impossible
I totally agree. Saban paid guys at lsu before he bolted to the nfl. He was a disaster coach with the dolphins and knew that and went to bama and started paying there. Saban ultimately trapped 5 star players on the bench with a lil bag of money and a car. Food for thought. It took 3 years for saban to win a natty at lsu, 3 years to win his first title at bama, and 3 years after nil came out to retire. Correlation much? He knew he was going to be exposed as a fraud coach had he stayed on. He cried to congress even.
@@jcelldogs I was there and other than the rich boys from Hoover the rest of the players either didn't own vehicles or they were "conch cars" that mostly sat in the lot broken down.
Saban saw what was coming and got out in the "nick" of time. But seriously, with NIL and the transfer portal, college football has changed. It's still most likely to benefit the big schools, but the days of dynasty are OVER.
Yeah Saban realized it wasn’t about to just be Alabama, OSU and a few select big schools being able to pay players under the table. He knew the time was coming where every team was going to have the same avenues and the competition would level out and advantages would be lost.
You are right yeah everyone can pay players but the very best player will still choose the big brands and there will always be a chance for a schoolt to win 2 or 3 nattys in a 4 year span
Saban stack up backups with 3 and 4 stars who waited their turn. With the portal that is not going to happen again. That is why Saban retired. The SEC teams had that advantage with the top 5 teams. Now the Big Ten teams are on a level of starters and play much tougher defense.
DAWGS fan here. Do we here in the SEC dare to stand on our OWN accomplishments as a team for once instead of coat-tailing off the University of Alabama?
Careful, Icarus. We've seen this movie before. Nebraska ring any bells? Pelini was fired for having a Better consecutive 4 year record than Osborn ever achieved save once. They still haven't recovered. He's in a unique and very difficult situation. FSU also comes to mind.
@@christopherwilliams2351 all your bammer friends are unreasonable. Bama can’t replace him next year if he goes 9-4. I’m sure they blame Milroe so stop
No one wants to give credit to Michigan's defense in playing Alabama. Wink Martindale had nearly all second stringers what with all the guys leaving to the NFL or in the portal, and they pressured Milroe nearly every play. The offense had their last string quarterback after the next-to-last string QB got hurt, and he was handing off to two running backs that saw hardly a minute of playing time before the ReliaQuest Bowl. Give Chip Lindsey and Sherrone Moore along with Wink some credit for coaching a great game. The guys stepped up. Go Blue!
It’s Deboer’s first season but the way he was unprepared for Vandys wildcat (coach and qb upset Auburn yr prior) then got destroyed by Oklahoma using the exact same playbook is a huge Red Flag.
I realize that people want to give DeBoer more time, and that most think it is unreasonable for him to be on the hot seat after just his first season, but what has he shown you this year that makes you optimistic that he has what it takes to rebuild and restore Bama to a National Championship contending team? I watched every game and I still haven't seen it.
Bama played lights out against Wisconsin, Missouri, LSU, and Auburn. Saban was a coach who could get his team to play like that for 13 or 14 games a year, not just four.

Paul Finebaum might have the worst takes in sports. And the mean spirited nature of his comments, while never taking accountably for his biased predictions about the SEC falling short is remarkable. He thinks everyone is a failure or a genius, when no one would ever regard him as either.
It's so true. I remember after the UGA - Bama game he was literally saying Deboer was an upgrade over Saban. The guy is nothing but a snakeoil salesman; a college football shock jock whose entire purpose is to drum up outrage.
"He had the best team, and the best 2nd team. Now nobody can stack talent that way" They said similar things when coach Osborne retired at Nebraska at the same time scholarship limits went into effect.
Michigan didn't just beat Alabama. Michigan was down 12 starters and lost Davis Warren during the game and Bama players opted to play for "revenge" lol
There are way more than a few good B10 games. Even lowly Rutgers and Illinois looked good in the post season bowl games. Michigan's 7-5 team embarrassed 9-3 Alabama. So I don't want to hear this "B10 is top heavy" BS anymore.
@@stevelenores5637 SEC guy here. Born and raised in the Hog Trough. Michigan didn't embarrass Bama, they committed Murder in the First in front of 90k people. Rutgers had a great year considering the situation there. I'm an Illini fan because of Coach B. We're beginning to realize he was the one who got away in Fayetteville. He made us stable. The B10 is fkn stacked. From NW to OSU, it's a good team every week. Put MSU, Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota in the B12 and hold on. They'd go off. Put NW or Rutgers in The AAC or ACC at this point and it's the same thing. 3 of the for semifinals teams are B10. Yes I'm including ND. They play multiple B10 teams every year and in every other sport, they're affiliated if I remember correctly. Point is, the Rust Belt is running football for the first time since the 60s.
NIL changed the game. There's just more money available to the programs in the B1G. The states they're in are wealthier, the schools themselves have more money and the alumni bases are almost certainly wealthier too.
"Lowly" Illinois had a better strength of victory than Indiana who was in the CFP... unless "lowly" was only intended to apply to Rutgers, in which case, this comment is moot lol
As an Alabama fan, i can 100% tell you we do not feel this way. Was he unprepared and didnt grow a set this season? Yeah. But he also lead Bama to 9-4, which is better than any head coach in their first season. And he had Jalen Milroe shackled to all of his decision making. Now that he's gone, he has to grow a set and be a leader and not let the locker room be the head of this program.
I'm a life long Bama fan. If they never win another natty for the rest of my life I still have not a thing to complain about. The success they have had during my lifetime will never be repeated by another team - at least that I will witness with my eyes. Roll Tide!
That’s a very reasonable, intelligent, and mature position. So rarely seen in the comments section on social media. You’re 100% correct - if your favorite team enjoys a run like Alabama has, you should consider yourself blessed.
Nah, they really aren’t. The reality that Saban was the brand, not Bama is setting in and the dynasty is dead.. Deboer has 1 more year, but he must sacrifice 1-2 coordinators this year
With NIL and portal, the Saban days are gone for good. The best way to cope is to lower expectations, accept 1-3 losses each year, and hope to be one of 12 playoff teams. The new normal for all teams in all conferences.

Like the SEC and it’s a great conference, but sometimes they get way too full of themselves. They do most things right, but as Paul said they love to talk.
Nobody at Bama is worried about DeBoer, the only thing that worries us now is can Debo and staff get a QB to play at a high level for next season? Cause we have a loaded WR room for next season and are actually talented everywhere. We need a OT, maybe a TE, possibly a RB, then a couple of other pieces to add depth. We’re getting everyone back except Jihaad Campbell at LB, Malachi at Safety, and Booker at OG…also Milroe is gone but that’s gonna help our win %. Bama has like 7-8 juniors that are borderline good enough to enter the draft this year but are coming back! Nobody is worried about DeBoer, everybody is mad about the failed Milroe experiment and Saban started it, KD was in a bad spot when he got here especially after the mass exodus once Nick retired.
Quite the opposite. Wins over quality out of conference opponents might’ve put them in over SMU and Clemson. Playing USF, Mercer, and WKU held them back in a way.
ESPN executives are starting to seriously regret not having a TV deal with the Big Ten. Michigan versus Ohio state is the most watched game every single year. But ESPN chose to be basically an exclusive network for the SEC, a dying conference that can't afford NIL like the B1G can.
Not a Bama fan as I graduated from Michigan State but I loved Saban and after that one player refused to come off the field and DeBoer didn’t suspend him for at least half a game I knew they would run all over him. Reminds me of Remember The Titans when Coach Boone told the other coach not to coddle the players and by doing so he was crippling them for life. Saban would have never let that fly. But there is a reason why Saban retired. He knew he wouldn’t be able to back up his starters with bench players who were almost as equally talented. Now late in the 3rd and 4th quarter these SEC teams have to sub in guys who aren’t as talented, especially in the trenches, and it showed this post season. Good luck to the SEC moving forward, should be fun to watch the rivalry with the Big Ten for years to come. Cheers 🍻
Shut up with that narrative. Its nothing he same. Alabama hadnt had 10 win ssason in forever before Saban. Roster was trash. Saban gave dubum a LOADED roster
Tired and tired of seeing/hearing this! Everyone paid! It’s the south that had the best players. The commitment days are over and that’s what you’re seeing more of. You clearly don’t watch enough college football to understand this. Players wanted to play for Saban or Kirby because the NFL.
@@ugadawgs831 there's some truth in the OP comment though. college football did seem to have a more 'even' feel to it this season. lots of loses, upsets, watched alot of close games this year. NFL is not the only option to make coin anymore so it's not necessarily the end game for alot of college players. Portal has changed everything. Being a dominant team year after year will be much more difficult, if not impossible. No one really knows what they will have to work with from one yr. to the next. That doesn’t excuse Bama(I am a huge fan) from losing games they should have been won. Portal notwithstanding. The portal didn’t make the Tide look awful against Oklahoma-no T.D.’s really?? The big 'what if' for me is: Ryan Grubb came with DeBoer to Tuscaloosa to continue as OC, barely unpacked, and then went back to Seattle to become OC of the Seahawks. What would have happened if Ryan Grubb had stayed in Tuscaloosa? It's the same for my Sooners: What if Jeff Lebby and Dillon Gabriel had stayed in Norman for the 2024 season? They were 10-3 in 2023, with the last loss the December bowl game after both had left. The future looked very bright in November 2023, and now we see BV--like DeBoer, a very fine coach--on a hot seat, of sorts, (though the folks in charge are more understanding than the impatient fan base.) Lance Leipold was the up-and-coming next big thing: If one could win in Lawrence, Kansas, one could win anywhere. Penn State takes away his OC Andy Kotelnicki, resulting in KU having a tougher season in the very competitive Big 12. Meanwhile, Penn State takes a big step forward. These head coaches, we think that they're all-powerful, but they're at the mercy of a lot of elements that they have no control over. It's not easy.
Let the man build his roster and get his own QB to operate it and you will be singing his praises. This man is a winner Jalen Milroe is not the QB for the system.
Jalen Milroe has never consistently been a good qb. Not last year, not this year. Saban drug last years team kicking and screaming into the playoffs. Give DeBoer sometime to get his system in place with a bunch of players that aren't complaining that he's not Nick Saban. Some fans will never stop complaining. People were still crying for Alabama to reanimate Bear Bryant's corpse until Saban got things going and we had a hall of fame coach who won a us a natty in between the two.
DeBoer is great. Just not comfortable yet. Other than Lanning, we couldn't have gotten a better coach. His recruits for next year are very surprising in a good way. Im on the DeBoer bandwagon sure.

I’ve seen the Schitt’s Creek between each of those coaches. Give Coach DeBo time to get his staff right, the payers that fit his style of Offense & Defense. Alabama will be back under Coach Debo…! PF doesn’t know as much as he thinks he knows. I talk to people all the time that agrees with what I just stated. Thank you
The SEC self cannibalizes during the process of trying to just make it into playoff scenarios. Put Ohio State, Notre Dame and Penn State in the SEC and let’s see which one of them loses a starting QB after having to play the same top ten team twice just to make it into the top 12. And yes Ohio State played Oregon twice but if they had lost the last matchup instead of the first or had their QB injured during one of those games, they would be out of the playoffs instead of still in it.
@jeremyking9185 are you actually staying up all night just to find new excuses for the SEC? First Alabama should have made the Playoffs ... they losed to Michigan without any QB. Georgia gets handled by Notre Dame ... the excuse is, they didn't have their QB who played bad all year in the first place. First year Texas walked into the SEC and almost won the Confernce straight up. At this point it's just embarassing how SEC fans trying to push a narrative that got exposed.
@@FirstNameLastnNamethis year being the key phrase to your statement. The SEC was a power conference before the power conference was a thing. The last 25 years have been dominated by the SEC. 14 titles, and that’s before OU and Texas was in.
Milroe lost every game on his own for every loss alabama had this year. He's a 1 dimensional qb that can't read coverage to save his life. He don't know how to throw the ball away. Kalens biggest heat should be him not pulling milroe in the Michigan game. That was insane
This was always going to be a transition year for Alabama, no matter the coach. Losing talent like Caleb Downs and Isaiah Bond hurts. No one is replacing Nick Saban. This was going to be a 2-loss team before Saban, Downs, and Bond left. Frankly I think 3 losses and a fringe top 10 ranking was Alabama's ceiling, and DeBoer took them there. Alabama isn't going to fall off the face of the earth under him the way it probably would with, say, Dabo Swinney or Lane Kiffin. It just won't be a dynasty anymore.
Bama was bleeding players after Saban left and it continues. DeBoer made a mistake leaving Washington and trying to follow a legend. It never works out. i am not sure how good the recruiting is either.
If Deboer is serious, his first order of business should be making a change in the offensive playcalling. Sheridan was beyond awful in that position this season. Say what you want about Tommy Rees, but he at least could put together competent game plans to counter Milroe's limitations.
The fact youre questioning DeBoer shows how lost the SEC talking heads are. The NIL/portal has taken 1st round BACKUPS out of the SEC and put them as starters on other teams. DeBoer has half of the talent depth Saban had, as do most SEC coaches now.
My daughter attends the University of Alabama. They are most assuredly behind the new head coach. No one is talking about replacing him or him being on the hot seat. Everyone is already looking forward to next year.
Did he really say ole miss was the only team with a post season pulse? LSU beat Baylor pretty handily I might add who was on a six game win streak. And we did it with a second string offensive line that allowed 0 sacks and our two best receivers opted out in mason Taylor and kyron lacy.
Yep, next season will determine DeBoer's fate. Alabama is built for playoffs. Alabama doesn't make playoffs next season, DeBoer is gone. The only question is? Who would replace him? Hopefully, someone who can discipline players.
I don't think Bama fans are that upset. Its the coaches first year! The oddsmakers were being ridiculous in making Bama such big favorites in the games they lost. You can't make accurate odds based on a teams past performance, and that is what's been going on this year.
The REAL problem I have with Deboer and the staff is the LACK OF ADJUSTMENTS. It’s like they go into a game with a game plan and if it doesn’t work they seem to struggle pivoting. In every loss and the second half of the Georgia game they didn’t adjust to what the other team was doing.
Which school spent the most buying up the best players this year and which team is dominating in the playoffs. It's no longer about who can develop the better team but rather who has the most money to spend. It's hard to follow college football these days.
Hot seat after one year and winning 9 games is crazy. Lmao. But I guess I can’t blame bamas fandom considering they had 13/14 years of success under Nick Saban. 6 nattys, multiple BCS appearances, multiple playoff appearances, and a couple of new years six appearances in the playoff era. DeBoer needs to step it up because this isn’t UW, anything less than playoff appearances will not cut it.
I just find this conversation hysterically funny. All I can do is laugh at Paul Finebaum. It is interesting two years into the NIL era, and Nick Saban seeing the landscape change and retiring (don't blame him at his age to not want to compete in this era) that the college landscape has changed. Finally schools outside the SEC can now pay for players and compete for top talent. Just look at the exodus of players hitting the portal from Alabama. It isn't like no one is leaving there because that's the greatest of all time. And it isn't because Saban left. It's money. Finebaum needs to change his narrative if he wants to be relevant.
Urban Meyer is still influencing college football. He went to the B1G, and dominated. At his first B1G press day, he scolded the other programs for being mediocre and lazy. He beat Jim H so bad, that he was forced to get better. Michigan has now made Ohio State go up another level. Those two rising tides, along with NIL, have lifted the conference as a whole. Meanwhile, the SEC got comfortable in the shadow of Nick and Kirby, ehile chanting, "SEC, SEC".
The “Alabama conversation” lost any credibility when it was known that Finebaum was participating in said conversation. He’s completely off base and wrong about almost everything he’s saying. Coach DeBoer is not on the hot seat and doesn’t deserve to be. The team didn’t deserve to be in the playoffs and I got slammed for saying that before the Committee left the Tide out. When we stunk it up in the bowl game we just proved it. Coach DeBoer should do just fine with players and especially a QB in place who maybe fits his system a little better. RTR
This is ESPN sensationalism as it’s best. Nobody in Alabama is saying CKD is on the hot seat. Finebaum has a long history of constantly trying to meddle with Alabama athletics. Nothing new here. Anyone who follows UA football knows there were hamstrung efforts being done with LANK contracts and such. Sucks a QB literally held the program hostage but that it what it is. The GOAT couldn’t even deal with JM and his NIL antics so that tells you all you need to know. I’m glad JM has declared and ready to move on. I will say I wouldn’t mind OC Sheridan being canned in favor for someone with an actual pulse.
I’m old enough to remember the transition from Bear Bryant to Ray Perkins. It wasn’t pretty, and the Alabama fans were, at times, very cruel to Perkins. Saban was probably the greatest college coach ever.
Here's why Alabama fans should be concerned about KDB: After DeBoer's 1st yr at Washington, they went 10-2 and were definitely on an upward trajectory, including beating TX at the Alamo Bowl. You could feel it, esp after Penix said he was coming back for '23, which also got all the other starters to come back to try and win a national championship, which they nearly did. What should bother Alabama fans is that there is no feeling of upward trajectory w/ their team after DeBoer's 1st year. Instead, everything got worse. And it ended with a thud at the bowl game a few days ago against Michigan. Concerning.
Definitely not judging DeBoer of the record this season. Judging him off his decision making around QB and also what he does with the staff now.. If he keeps OC, I am all in favor of him being under immense pressure
4:00 "Bama gets beat by Michigan (by 6 points in a bowl game). The same Michigan that beat Ohio State. The same Ohio State that just destroyed Oregon. Ridiculous.

I totally agree. Saban paid guys at lsu before he bolted to the nfl. He was a disaster coach with the dolphins and knew that and went to bama and started paying there. Saban ultimately trapped 5 star players on the bench with a lil bag of money and a car. Food for thought.

Go Blue!
Bama has three future NFL offensive linemen playing, and they couldn't beat Michigan's benchwarmers.
That's what happens when bama is forced to play against a real defense.
Nobody at Bama is worried about DeBoer, the only thing that worries us now is can Debo and staff get a QB to play at a high level for next season? Cause we have a loaded WR room for next season and are actually talented everywhere. We need a OT, maybe a TE, possibly a RB, then a couple of other pieces to add depth. We’re getting everyone back except Jihaad Campbell at LB, Malachi at Safety, and Booker at OG…also Milroe is gone but that’s gonna help our win %. ESPN executives are starting to seriously regret not having a TV deal with the Big Ten. Michigan versus Ohio state is the most watched game every single year. But ESPN chose to be basically an exclusive network for the SEC, a dying conference that can't afford NIL like the B1G can.
It’s called ratings dude. It’s all the networks care about and the SEC killed it.
Cheers 🍻

The future looked very bright in November 2023, and now we see BV--like DeBoer, a very fine coach--on a hot seat, of sorts, (though the folks in charge are more understanding than the impatient fan base.)
Lance Leipold was the up-and-coming next big thing: If one could win in Lawrence, Kansas, one could win anywhere. Penn State takes away his OC Andy Kotelnicki, resulting in KU having a tougher season in the very competitive Big 12. Meanwhile, Penn State takes a big step forward.

The best Paul Finebaum show was after the tornado in Tuscaloosa, Al. I was there and lived it. Much respect to Mr. Finebaum for those days afterwards.
Bama was bleeding players after Saban left and it continues. DeBoer made a mistake leaving Washington and trying to follow a legend. It never works out. i am not sure how good the recruiting is either.
Next year Bama looses 5 games.
If Deboer is serious, his first order of business should be making a change in the offensive playcalling. Sheridan was beyond awful in that position this season. Say what you want about Tommy Rees, but he at least could put together competent game plans to counter Milroe's limitations.
YOU ARE CORRECT THE WHINERS WOULD HAVE BEEN GLAD TO HAVE HAD REES THIS YEAR!
The fact youre questioning DeBoer shows how lost the SEC talking heads are. The NIL/portal has taken 1st round BACKUPS out of the SEC and put them as starters on other teams. DeBoer has half of the talent depth Saban had, as do most SEC coaches now.
Bama still had enough talent this year to go undefeated. What they lacked was proper coaching and chemistry.
DeBoer came across as a genial bumbler in his introductory press conference and that’s what he’s shown himself to be.

Yep, next season will determine DeBoer's fate. Alabama is built for playoffs. Alabama doesn't make playoffs next season, DeBoer is gone. The only question is? Who would replace him? Hopefully, someone who can discipline players.
In hindsight, I wish that Saban had retired after the 2020 National Championship. If he had we probably would have Sarkesian now instead of DeBoer.
ESPN calling for another man to lose his job: Shocker

Makes a big difference when all the big programs can pay their players vs what was happening a few years back
The “ good old days” are OVER!!! Now everyone has a chance and I love it !

College Football is now Entertainment, the players are entertainers, just like the NFL…At least the NFL has contracts for their entertainers.
I am a 63-year Alabama fan and I do not like DeBoer at all but I WILL ALWAYS BE A Bama fan.
I’m old enough to remember the transition from Bear Bryant to Ray Perkins. It wasn’t pretty, and the Alabama fans were, at times, very cruel to Perkins. Saban was probably the greatest college coach ever.
People act like lsu, auburn, south Carolina, florida aren't playing below expectation.
Bama has joined that group !
Concerning.
I do feel that the coach needs to get better at making adjustments.
The transfer portal has leveled the playing field. The SEC schools have been forced to share the top players in the nation.
Definitely not judging DeBoer of the record this season. Judging him off his decision making around QB and also what he does with the staff now.. If he keeps OC, I am all in favor of him being under immense pressure
Tbf, I feel like the OC would have looked better without Milroe. Once he fell apart he couldn't get it back together.
ALL THE OC HAD TO SAY IS WE MIGHT WANT PLAY SIMPSON INTHE SECOND HALF HE IS A FIVE STAR
@@vart7767 yep. Which showed why I don’t trust him at all..
4:00 "Bama gets beat by Michigan (by 6 points in a bowl game).
The same Michigan that beat Ohio State.
The same Ohio State that just destroyed Oregon.
Ridiculous.
I’ve been a Bama fan for over 40 years. This season was disappointing but only the loudest scattered randos online are talking like this. Finebaum is just a clickbait machine.
SEC fans have forgotten that between 1980-2000, just 4 teams from the SEC won the national championship. Cycles happen.
