Saying that Tennessee has a win over “at the time a top 5 Alabama” is a joke. Rankings preseason and early in the year should not happen or give people resume building wins or losses. At the end of the year the committee should evaluate what wins were worthy of being called good wins and which ones were not.
The SEC schools FOR YEARS used as Resume Building by having 10 SEC having or more teams ranked at the start of "Any" given season. The rest of the Conference's were playing catch-up. This playoff format # 1 exposes the SEC and #2 Creates a level playing field for the other Conference's. I agree, for the "Most" part you will see the Cream of the Crop rise at the end of the season. That's fine I just hated to see SEC Sports teams ranked in the top 25 and NO one have played a yet. Then these same SEC Schools are judged on strengths schedule based on the Original Ranking. 💯

Where is the professionalism here???
I would suggest Indiana coach was trying to instill some confidence in his team. Create a culture that believes, Kiffin is a putz, and has proven it time and time again.
I have no problem with either an 8 or 16 team field. No byes. 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15 etc………and at least one at large but not limited too Group 5 squad or squads are in the seeding. Each conference required to play 9 conference games. Purdue may have been bad, but still would beat Mercer badly!

Every team that were in the playoffs “did something” to get there, they won their games! The only thing that I might say that was an issue was seeding.
Everyone underestimated how big that home field advantage was. Congrats to smu, Clemson, Tennessee, Indiana for a good season. I’m looking forward to how those teams look on neutral fields next time

There’s bias everywhere. Paul Finebaum should shut up about Curt Cignetti's big mouth. Cignetti was able to do what Alabama was not able to do, beat 6-6 teams and beat the breaks off of them compared to Alabama who lost by 21 to a 6-6 Oklahoma and lose to a 6-6 Vanderbilt team. Cignetti has every right to run his mouth because he did his job with the schedule he got compared to Alabama. If anyone needs to shut his mouth it is Paul Finebaum.
IU beat 11 teams on its schedule. Hoosiers deserved the spot. Finebaum just wants to live in the world of double standards in which he slobbers all over any (ANY!) SEC team but pisses on anyone else trying to play the game.
When Paul Finebaum says "The committee screwed up" what he means is the Committee did not put in an undeserving 3 loss Alabama. He's a fraud. A 3 loss team that lost to Vandy and Oklahoma never deserved to be in a play off.
What did Tenn do to get in? Got whipped by Ga,,beat Ala in Knoxville,,,,beat Kent State? Didn't play for a SEC championship,,,,aside from being just "in" the SEC,,Tenn was overrated
First year. Calm down. Also I’d rather it be settled on the field than speculated on. Whoever does win will be the undisputed champ. Where in years past there’s been plenty of controversy
I am not having this whining and complaining. As many have said, there is more of an elite 4-6 teams this season. 12-team playoff was made to shut up people ranked 5-8 who complained they deserved a spot. This bellyaching about the teams in it like Clemson, SMU, and Indiana just serves to try and open the door for 3-loss teams like Bama to get in. Absolutely not. You don't deserve a spot with 3 losses. Don't like the selection? Win more games. Period. The committee got it right. We know who the best 8 teams are.
The existence of losers, like Paul Fine Bomb, is so disheartening. I am much less stupid than Paul Fine Bomb, and have a smaller net worth. Kudos on a surprising and successful season for the Indiana Hoosiers. The Hoosiers performance against Notre Dame was less disgraceful than the Tennessee performance against OSU.
These guys must not watch March Madness. The #1 seeds win their games by blowout every year and we move on without having to change things. Wild Card weekend in the NFL has blowouts too and HUGE ratings
ESPN has a vested interest in the SEC's success so that's why they're crying about strength of schedule. Alabama could've avoided this if they had just beat the teams they were supposed to beat.
Whats wrong with having blowouts? the regular season was so much more fun this year. 12 teams give so many more fanbases hope though December. Excellent season so far and the best teams in the nation will still face off.
before this year there were never any blowouts ever in the college football playoffs or even during the BCS era or even prior to that. Every championship game was razor thin, they all came down to the last second, the SEC won every bowl game, and even the ones they lost it was some weird referee call that stopped them from winning. Even Nebraska's 62-24 win over Florida in the 96 Fiesta Bowl was just a fluke play away from being a Florida blowout.
The Hypocrisy of SEC clowns.😂 They complain how the Committee let "frauds" in the playoffs. But give credit to ranking all the SEC teams like Bama, Ole Miss, Tennessee 😂 Which is it? It can't be both
hate to break it to all the SEC fans but neither Alabama, Ole Miss, or South Carolina were going to go into one of those 4 stadiums and win a playoff game you can say it would’ve been more competitive but that’s about it because it would’ve ended the same result with Texas, Penn State, Ohio State, and Notre Dame all winning
Paul just admitted he just wants to watch teams with names he likes. Man hates the sport. Why would you want to watch Miami or South Carolina get blown out instead of smu get blown out? Their logos???
HELLO! OHIO STATE is currently not in session, final exams finished December 10th - MOST OF THE 67,000 STUDENTS HAVE ALREADY GONE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS! Any wonder that College Game Day saw fewer OSU supporters on site ????

Matt doesn't understand that out of the top 12 schools, the brightest will shine. It's not that all 12 teams are capable of winning a national championship, it's that they deserve a shot. If nothing else, they provide quality competition for those who are worthy. No one knows who will claim the crown, outside of Las Vegas, thus the games need to be played, so billions can be made. Clemson and Texas was not a blow out. Clemson almost came back in the fourth quarter. It has to be atleast three scores to be a blow out.

The SEC schools FOR YEARS used as Resume Building by having 10 SEC having or more teams ranked at the start of "Any" given season. The rest of the Conference's were playing catch-up. When Paul Finebaum says "The committee screwed up" what he means is the Committee did not put in an undeserving 3 loss Alabama. He's a fraud. A 3 loss team that lost to Vandy and Oklahoma never deserved to be in a play off.
Not really. Three weeks ago he was saying Alabama didn’t deserve a spot over anyone.

First year. Calm down. Also I’d rather it be settled on the field than speculated on. Whoever does win will be the undisputed champ. Where in years past there’s been plenty of controversy
Closer look at the Tennessee schedule reveals that they didn't "really beat anybody" other than 9-3 Alabama.

There’s been blowouts in the playoffs of every sport. Who cares
Morons care
These guys must not watch March Madness. The #1 seeds win their games by blowout every year and we move on without having to change things. Wild Card weekend in the NFL has blowouts too and HUGE ratings
It was some blowout in BCS
ESPN has a vested interest in the SEC's success so that's why they're crying about strength of schedule. Alabama could've avoided this if they had just beat the teams they were supposed to beat.
Because it lowers the floor for the best teams. Tennessee didn't belong and I'm a vols fan. We didn't need a 12 team playoff
Whats wrong with having blowouts? the regular season was so much more fun this year. 12 teams give so many more fanbases hope though December. Excellent season so far and the best teams in the nation will still face off.
Exactly. They're using the ends to justify their means of now bandwagoning that this is bad
Plus, "the best teams in the nation" have to earn it given the larger number of teams.
before this year there were never any blowouts ever in the college football playoffs or even during the BCS era or even prior to that.
