This is a song that has never aged and feels as relevant as ever. That falsetto! Electronic music + Jimmy's voice are an amazing combination. 40 years old? Impossible.

This remix is incredible especially the Super Extended Mix. It saddens me deeply that 40 years on this song is still as relevant and scream loudly in protest of what our community is still facing in 2024. Jimmy, Neil and of course Steve and Larry thank you 🏳🌈❤
This song and Smalltown Boy helped me not feel so alone as a young gay man. Jimmy Somerville (Bronski Beat / Communards), Neil Tennant (Pet Shop Boys), Marc Almond (Soft Cell), and Andy Bell (Erasure) are all intricately woven in the soundtrack of my life. Writing songs about the struggles of being out of the closet, songs about loving men, songs about the hate and violence that we encounter just to be our true selves and the struggles we endure fighting legislation to make us less than heteronormative people. These men and others opened the door for LGBTQIA+ artists today. They are legends in my book, and I am so excited this song was remade by Jimmy, Neil and Tom! Thank you. I love it!
@@martinfry3728 Peddling my sexuality?!? GTFOH! I was bullied my whole life, I didn't choose to be gay! These songs and bands are a lifeline to young teens being outcast by hatred and bullies!
Damn to be young again & dancing at what use to be one of Atlanta's Hottest Bars (BackStreet) to the morning light with Great Tunes from Bronski, PetShop & all that made that time period the best of my life! This mix would have been requested a million times a night!
It's Jimmy all the way through... Except for the spoken word section which is by the wonderful Neil Tennant from The Pet Shop Boys. Neil is speaking from 'Name me an illness... from 1min 27secs. : )
Neil Tennant's spoken-word vocals are the best thing about this. The rest is kind of sh2. The song was always shrill and unbearable anyway in the 80s. It's not a good song! Except as a protest for gay rights, which we have achieved. Don't tell me this is about trans stuff now. Different issue.

The remix we all needed for 2024!
Soooo Amazing! New fresh version with Neil Tennant’s voice….I’m dying! Pure Electro Heaven!
Absolute perfect remix
Jimmy and Neil was what I was hoping for at the end of all these contributions after soft Cell with Pet shop boys! Perhaps Erasure???
I see more possible an Andy Bell vocal (featured in a song) than a full erasure combo. PSB never never got on well with Vince Clarke.
I huge Neil Tennant fan love his voice hear. Great tune love it...❤
Neil's voice, a walk in heaven
So powerful, keeps the vital essence of the song, like Neil's voice addition.

It builds up nicely and holds the tension till the end. Neil's vocals fit in perfectly. Great job!

Neil before per shop boys it’s a sin
Listen to psb remixes
I can almost smell the poppers.
Why does he have to be so screechy?! Saved by the balm of Neil's voice.
Can I ask who’s singing on this version ? Doesn’t sound like Jimmy Somerville - the chorus could be , but mixed down a bit ….. just curious

It couldn't have had a better title: Why.
Why did you do that?
This version is 'ok' imho...I've heard much better versions.

@@mnope Maybe the Pascal Gabriel mix on the b-side of 'to love somebody'
