Loved your reactions. The guava "paste" you can eat with a lot of things, like cheese, toasts, crackers and some cookies. Personally i like to heat it until it melts ( with just a little bit of water so it wont burn) and put on cakes or eat some pieces with condensed milk, but the first 4 options are the common ones here in Brazil.

    "It's like eating a jungle!"
I love your descriptions and faces when you taste unknown things. :D
These brazilian set of videos really brought up a curious perspective on your country, something you usually wouldn't find in a Japanese-themed channel. I enjoyed and appreciated them very much. Thank you!

+Isos aww I'm so glad you enjoyed them. It's funny because although we are a Japan-based channel, we really want to keep it diverse. Satoshi was born and raised in Japan. However I was born here but raised in Hawaii then came back here again. I've always known that the one thing that brings people together is good food. In addition to sharing our own culture with the world, I wanted people to be able to share their own cultures with us.
Everytime someone comments here with information about their own unique culture, it opens up our eyes to a world we didn't know before. We love how TH-cam can do that and although this was the first time we did something outside the Japan-Hawaii spectrum of things, we hope to be able to do more of these "themed" weeks. In the process we ourselves, get to learn how to make other countries cuisines! So much fun!!! :D
Lastly, thank YOU. It's always Satoshi and I that are grateful to you. So thank you. :) Hope you are having an awesome day my friend.

    Shinichi-San,
Almost all of the sweets you tasted is made with a lot of sugar, for preservative matters way baaaack then.
Lol, the first one, we call pururuca, you bought the spanish/mexican version called 'chicharrones".
Second one, called Caribe (caribbean) with banana fillings.
Third one: Fazendinha is the brand (fazendinha means little farm), it is banana paste with sugar
Fourth: Serenata de Amor (Love's Serenade)
Fifth: Goiabada, it is guava paste with sugar (just like the last one, that massive block) but this is a 'pack to go' version
Sixth: it's called "it coco" (pronounces ichi coco), just like the Caribe, with coco filling, it is very popular in a box with assorted chocolates including serenata de amor
Seventh: paçocão, it means 'big paçoca' as paçoca is peanut paste with sugar (a lot of sugar)/ pronounces pah-soh-kah and the big version like this one: pah-soh-kaum
Eighth: Cocadão, means 'big cocada': made with shredded coconuts, sugar and condensed milk
Ninth: Abobrão do Coração, heart shaped pumpkin sweet, again, made with pumpkin past and a lot of sugar
Tenth: Pé de Moleque, literally means 'boy's foot': peanuts, and a caramel brittle
Eleventh: chocolate waffer, this brand is kinda cheap and generic...I think the 'brigadeiro' is a con, as a real brigadeiro is far tasty than this, brigadeiro for marketing reasons lol
And the last one, is a reprise from the Fifth as I said, guava paste in a huge block...
HINT: it is very popular here to pair with a slice of cheese (the salty the better) to balance the taste and eat altogether, have a very 'romantic' name: Romeu e Julieta (Romeo & Juliet), just try it!

Mounds bar, coconut candy bar my favorite is what that coco bar looks like. I have watched your German treat videos and this is the last one out of four that I've watched this morning and I have not quit smiling. I am going to go back and comment on each one of the others to let you know what I like out of them as well. But the Coco looks to be my favorite out of this one. The peanuts in caramel look so good too. I love your expressions, they are so funny.

I remember my Colombian friend served some Brazilian guava paste spread on halved plantains topped with some condensed milk, essentially making sweet plantain sandwiches. He baked them until the plantains got soft and the guava paste melted. They taste amazing! I don't know if that is a Colombian or Brazilian way of enjoying the guava paste, but that is awesome!

the goiabada is usually used for a recipe called ROMEU E JULIETA .. guava paste+white cheese inside some pastry

  • @yaracarrilho6678
    @yaracarrilho6678 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

The pork thing you ate at the beginning is actually called "torresmo". It's a popular appetizer in bars to eat while drinking beer.
"Fazendinha" is "fazenda", farm, in the diminutive form (and feminine, because that noun is feminine).
"Serenata de Amor" is very popular. It means "Love Serenade". There are also other sweets with the same shape that are very popular, like "Ouro Branco" (White Gold).
The classic "goiabada" is made from the fruit "goiaba" (guava), water and sugar. There's also "goiabada cascão" ("cascão", augmentative of "casca", peel), which has fragments of goiaba's peel in it. Many enjoy to eat goiabada with cheese as dessert, which we call Romeu e Julieta (Romeo and Juliet). Goiabada is somewhat like a jam, yes, just a little harder. You just eat it however you wish, there are no rules. I don't enjoy it, so I can't tell you some specific way to eat it other than the popular Romeu e Julieta.
The "pacocao" is actually sweet "paçoca" (passoca? idk how to show the pronunciation). There is another food also called paçoca in the Northeast of Brazil, but it's salty, made of meat (carne-de-sol, specifically) and farofa.
"Abobrão" is something like big "abóbobra" (pumpkin), that's why the suffix of the word is "ão", it's augmentative form of a masculine word.
Pé-de-moleque means something like "Kid's foot". "Pé", foot, and "Moleque", kid. "De" is like saying "of" something, but translating as "foot of kid" doesn't sound exactly as the original, so "Kid's foot" is better.
Brigadeiro is a military rank, actually, the Brigadier. Not sure why the sweet is called that way, but it's very popular and you can see it almost in every sweets shop and parties. It's easy (and cheap) to make, very sweet and pleases almost everyone. You can also make it and leave it in the pan while sharing with friends at home, each one with their own spoon (sometimes using only one spoon, if people don't mind...).
Recently, there have been appearing "gourmet" brigadeiro shops, with special tastes. I like those better, to be sincere, even though they are expensive, because they're usually not too sweet and I like some of the mixture of flavors.
I hope you found that useful!

We use the guava paste on serveral recipes. There´s a cookie made of corn starch, that takes this paste as a filling or topping. The most simple one is the Romeo e Julieta, it takes that paste and gorgonzola cheese. You can make mozzarela pizza and put the paste on top too. There´s a bunch of recipes.

Hi guys!! I really enjoy your videos. I am brazilian but my parents are from Japan, regarding the guava paste, we call it goiabada here and the most traditional way to eat it is as a dessert called "Romeu e Julieta" mixing the goiabada with "Queijo Mineiro" a half cured cow cheese but I think any soft and lightly salted cheese will do. The name is because of the combination of two completely different foods one being extra sweet, deep red, chewy and other being a little salted, creamy white and very soft. Here in Brazil, we tend to overload our sweets with sugar and I think you are not used to this. The traditional brazilian sweets are the most sweet.

I am late but let me explain why we use so much sugar in our deserts.
Brazil used to be a colony and started to produce sugarcane since the beginning of the 16th century making sugar our main export product until the beginning of the 20th century. Because of that, the sugar prices at the time were quite low and it was really easy to find, unlike pretty much every other country that had to import at high prices or had a low production, making the use of sugar in our sweets really affordable. Even our most traditional alcohoolic beverage (cachaça) is made from the fermentation of the sugarcane.

Nope. Eles acham muito doce por que no Japão não se usa açúcar de cana, e sim de beterraba, que é muito menos doce. Os doces japoneses também são lotado de açúcar, mesmo assim não são tão doces por não serem feitos de cana. I watched one video of someone trying Brazilian treats, and now TH-cam bombards me with videos of that kind lol
But you were right on the spot! Unlike people who enter a Brazilian supermarket and buy all sorts of chocolate and gelatin candy, you went for most of the classic Brazilian treats every Brazilian loves since they were kids. You missed on doce de leite though.
As for the guava paste, you cut a slice of it and put it together with a slice of white cheese. I don't know what kind of cheese can be found in Japan, but some mild and fresh kind will probably do.

Cuca com goiaba é meu vício! There is a bread in Brasil called Cuca that is often served with guava or takes guava inside, its awsome! I am not a huge fan of Romeo e Julieta( Romeo and Juliet). I usually dilute guava paste in hot water just to make it a little more "liquid"(like honey) and then put it on biscuits breads or with another Brasilian dessert, Manja de Coco!

    • @TabiEats

actually we eat this guava paste with cheese sometimes but i don't know if you would like it cause people who aren't brazilian usually think it is to akward, and you also can eat it with bread, but is not that common cause we usually use the guava jelly for that, since it's almost the same thing i think you can put it in the bread, or you can eat like you guys did by just eating the paste, and that thing you guys ate fazendinha is actually a candy made of banana.

One of the things you can do is to make a simple cake and right before you put it in the oven, cut some squares of goiabada and throw them in the dough, it's simple but it makes the cake really yummy, my grandma used to make cakes like that for me when I was a kid :3
You can also melt the goiabada in a pan (cut a piece and add a bit of water) and use it as a cake frosting or filling, both ways is really good :D

Guys... You're crazy, too much candy. :-)
The tradicional pe-de-moleque do not use condensend milk. It`s only the caramel and peanuts.
I must say... The brands you buy, aren`t the best. With the excection of Garoto chocolate, that is ok.
Goiabada have to be eaten with cheese. Here we use queijo de minas, a white cheese with a very soft taste (it`s like cottage but without the sour taste and more salty). It is called Romeo and Juliet (Romeu e Julieta).
The pronunciation continues to be the funniest thing.
