That being said they could get it right with Starfield, I'm just hesitant given their track record.
10 dollars a month isn't technically for free. Well I guess if your mom or dad pays for it. But paying 10 dollars a month to access a catalogue of games, is in fact, not free.
The fact you “guaranteed” it will be a bug ridden mess on release gets you a Downthumb and a laugh . They’ve already stated it could release a couple months ago and would be by far the least buggy game they’ve ever made and they’re still working out the bugs right now. Not to mention it has had at least a year for polish; why would you have such a stupid take like that with your 30 years of gaming experience, it’s like you just heard a bunch of people talking shit on starfield and made a video talking about everything you HEARD instead of thought
my main concern is bugs and also the generated planets that are built up of prefabricated encounters/resources. how long before i've seen all the combinations? there's too many planets and it's impossible they've made enough unique encounters and events for even a single earth sized planet. there's either going to be a lot of empty space or a lot of copy paste prefabs/events. fallout 4 already had this issue where you'd run into the same random events constantly, and that was just Boston.
@@AbtinX yeah I don't know how much i expect in those categories after fallout 4. also more and more over time bethesdas games have been reducing use of unique texture/model assets, instead opting for the unique weapons to just have a unique effect. vanilla fallout 4 only had two truly visually unique weapons. the broadsider, the deliverer pistol. everything else was just the same guns with a legendary perk. skyrim has a ton of unique weapons but almost all of them besides the deadric weapons and a handful of others are just steel or dragonbone weapons with a unique weapon effect. Stuff like exploring a thousand procedurally generated planets to find resources to grow my ship/settlement doesn't appeal to me. it's my least favorite part of fallout 4, the settlement s. and the story/rpg elements I don't have faith in either, not after fallout 3/4 and skyrim being generic good and evil stories with no grey.
If you've played NMS then you know what to expect. These types of games are usually a mile wide and a centimeter deep. No developer has enough time in their life to make an entire galaxy interesting. An army of modders however, well that's a different story.
I needed to see this. Skyrim is all time best game it doesn't need mods in my opinion but I needed to see this bc I think I'll get more information about starfeild and I should wait a bit longer so they might put more work into it through time.
Yeah I'm looking at some of the footage coming out of Starfield's prerelease right now and a lot of people are saying there are many areas that are underwhelming. It will get better in time with mods so I'm just going to wait for a bit until then
Also I will say I was ready to hate this video because every year people just parrot the idea of not buying games in release/preorder because if the state of the industry right now but you really convinced me at 6:00 with the idea that you only truly get a fresh experience with these amazing worlds once so it’s best to wait when they’re at their best. Good video
@@pancakesean6888 completely understand this because the first thing I thought of was Cyberpunk2077. It has a gorgeous world with great characters but the gameplay is not all that we were promised on top of there being bugs and missing content since day one.
@@aaroncarroll2417 they haven’t said how long it will be but I’m sure it being on game pass won’t affect sales because they have already got a butt load of preorders and Starfield being on gamepass is good because people will be buying subscriptions to play Starfield so I don’t think it really matters how long it will be on there but I’m sure they will take it out eventually but that could be months or even years from now
Your points are absolutely solid, but trust me people will still be playing on day 1. They been waiting 8 freaking years for a bethesda single player games, were bummed to shit with fallout 76, and to an extent even fallout 4 wasn’t enough to scratch their skyrim itch. Starfield is a chance for them to experience thay sense of wonder in another world again and not all of them will be able to fathom waiting for 6 more months
My only issue is that Todd refuses to just make a new fucking engine. That would fix so much of the issues they have with new releases. They just keep stacking and adding thing to the now Frankenstein abomination that is creation engine “2”
since its on day one i game pass it dosnt realy matter to anyone with gamepass since its included anyway and no need to make a buy. if its broken - no harm done. we wait some more :)
I don't have any worries, as I already know my first playthrough of this game will be horrible. As I can predict it'll be a mid experience throughout, so I'll take my chances
After the recent news from people who have played the game early I'm really hoping the game proves me wrong and is super polished on release. Who knows, maybe they will release this one in a great state?
Given my experience with FO4 and Skyrim out of the gates... my pre-order is secured and the hype is real. And then when I take into account the further life and enjoyment I've gained from changing the game from vanilla (or enhancing), like my current playthrough of FO4 with the SimSettlements 2 mods, I am further assured that this game will last me beyond years of playtime and enjoyment.
So glad I waited and saved $60. There’s no open world, it’s all loading screens, you can’t go from one location to another without a loading screen. To get to a location on a planet from another planet takes 2-3 loading screens. 🤮
Your council is wise, but I am a true-blooded lover of bethesda games. The day I miss one of these games on launch day is the day i'm dead. The game could crash to desktop every 3 minutes, and I would have no regrets with my purchase. I know what these games provide, and its what I need.
First playthrough should really be done with a vanilla game. Mods are excellent way to change/improve your experience second time through. And with Bethesda games I don't feel like paying the full price on release is a particularly huge ask, since I can expect to get literal hundreds if not thousands of hours out of them when the modding scene kicks in. There's a reason why I still have Fallout 4 installed after buying it on release 8 years ago and periodically add new mods to it. I intend to repeat that with Starfield, and none of your arguments really convinced me to hold on it, sorry.
Bethesda is one of the most well known developers in the world, and they continue to deliver impactful experiences to gamers for decades. Starfield is the most anticipated game of the year for a good reason. There is a reason developers have moved their launch date as to not collide with starfield.

I may look like a high schooler but I'm only 33. I'm counting when I was a kid playing Mario Kart on the SNES. Granted all I could do then was hold a button and go left and right but I'm counting it.
This was a ridiculously repeated premise. A lot of what we are calling bugs are many times due to graphic card drivers. Sure, there are some world collisions not handled properly, but EVERY game in existence has had those. Played Skyrim from day 1 - played the entire game, took over a month and half including pretty much every side quest I could find. This was before mods or DLC released. Played Fallout 4 from Day 1 - played the game for a long time, just not as memorable as Skyrim but played a lot. Played Fallout NV - loved that - different as it was Oblivion, but great game. I don't honestly care what Howard said so much as what I saw. His words were peripheral - I focused on the gameplay I could see. Other than cut scenes (which I could care less), or maybe some storage limits, resource gathering issues, etc - this is a game I have been waiting for a long time. I will give Bethesda, Microsoft/XBox, AMD and all the others fully backing this release as something other than a bait and switch. When the AMD execs come out at QuakeCon and they note they are backing this "Irresponsibly Large" game, I am good with what is coming. No hesitation, no regrets.
Bethesda are a difficult one for me. They’re ambitions to delve into the online RPGs was a complete disaster. So much to the extent I can’t believe they haven’t made consumer laws because of it. I mean they legit lied to peoples faces and ripped them off. Still to this day they charge £99 to have a private world in Fallout 76 even in its dead state. However, this games resources have focused on one player’s experience. Something they’ve always been strong at. Of course it will have problems at launch. Every game does and with the heights they’re trying to hit with this game. There’s going to be some hilarious and frustrating bugs. Having GamePass though has definitely lowered my expectations as it usually comes with how much money I’m spending so I definitely think I will be playing at launch but just like CyberPunk 77 if I get to a point where the glitches are taking me out the experience i will come back once I see the games getting love
Pre-order Starfield, my experience, I Pre-Ordered Panzer Dragoon Saga way back on the Sega Saturn, I'm so glad I did as we were the only owners of the game. If Starfield is a game that touches your gaming instincts, Pre-order it and enjoy the journey. I have as well. I don't Pre-order much, but this game has a feel about it being a Hall of Fame game.

Good video only thing I would say is now that Microsoft owns Bethesda it should be better. The reason they pushed back release was due to Microsoft’s concerns of bugs and technical issues.
Nice job Sean. Trust me, your opinion will be in the minority as the hype has already reached defcon 1 and can't be stopped. Better to just sit back and watch peoples false perceptions get smashed in their faces like usual. Starfield could be a great game in 10 years like Skyrim, but releasing among a sea of other awesome titles, I don't see why I would care to play it day one. Then again, for all the kids that never played a space exploration game before, I can see why they're wetting their pants to experience Hodd Towards version of No Mans Sky. 🤷♂ 😂
Indeed is better to wait, ALWAYS! Videogames nowadays are a luxury (always had been but with the ridiculous prices, no thanks) Do not have hope in this thing bc Bethesda, Howard and Spencer 's LIES! But at the same time I wish it does not flop bc of the comeptition SONY urgenlty needs. In the end is just another "xbox exclusive" but they need a big game to bring back balance. Nintendo and Sony are in the bigger leagues.
I would argue it did. I've seen numerous reviews discuss shortcomings of the game from mini map, to navigation, to combat, all of which will be fixed by mods.
You showed a bunch of bugs.. that doesnt make what he said a lie lol. Those were and are new animation systems. The only "lie" he said was the "200 endings". You lied more in this video than todd howard
I feel like this for most games actually. Never pre order, doesnt make sense to do so. If you really NEED to play the game on release for some reason (could never understand why) then buy it on release after checking some reviews to see if the game is completely broken or not. Either way if you wait a couple weeks you'll save some money
That is just one view point. I never understand relying on reviews. Reviews have 100% always never been helpful. I have to play the game myself. So if I pre order or not does not impact anything at all. So never see why this always a problem.
I mean just go look at ANY comparison video at all. But I mean....you wouldn't buy a fallout game set in space? Sounds fuckin sweet. People been saying this garbage since Oblivion. FO3 is just Oblivion with guns, Skyrim is just fallout with swords and they were all horribly wrong. Now you and a million other people are saying "Fallout in space!". Yet somehow...they're all beloved GOTY titles that everyone and their mom can't stop talking about. You can add Starfield to that list now. The list of GOTY titles everybody was shitting on before they came out, then everyone bought and played for over 10 years. Fuckin delusional.

Story? Good characters? RPG elements?
@@dan_loeb I'm playing Baldur's Gate, that's a real RPG
If you've played NMS then you know what to expect. These types of games are usually a mile wide and a centimeter deep. No developer has enough time in their life to make an entire galaxy interesting. An army of modders however, well that's a different story.
@@TheXboxSuxhave you played fallout 4 or 3?
I could wait.. or I could just get it on Game Pass
Good video
You get it. Lots of hate on this video but my fear is people will have a first playthrough that is more frustrating than fun
@@pancakesean6888 completely understand this because the first thing I thought of was Cyberpunk2077. It has a gorgeous world with great characters but the gameplay is not all that we were promised on top of there being bugs and missing content since day one.
I’m gonna play it on gamepass lol don’t really have to buy the game but if the game lives up to the hype I’ll buy it
A great use for game pass
How long will this game even be on the Service? About 3 months?
You must be new here.
So glad I waited and saved $60. There’s no open world, it’s all loading screens, you can’t go from one location to another without a loading screen.
To get to a location on a planet from another planet takes 2-3 loading screens. 🤮
I agree, don't play Starfield at launch. Wait for the modders to get a hold of it.
Can’t wait for you to be wrong on sep 6
Your council is wise, but I am a true-blooded lover of bethesda games. The day I miss one of these games on launch day is the day i'm dead. The game could crash to desktop every 3 minutes, and I would have no regrets with my purchase. I know what these games provide, and its what I need.
You know what , I'm going to play it even earlier. And the seats go alllll the way down
Not now Toby my God!!
The more they hype the game the more suspicious I get.
Im waiting till launch.
No thanks. I take my Bethesda black with bugs on the side. Pre-ordered Deluxe version and have $5000 ready to spend on a new pc, if needed.
It'll be on gane pass. No need to wait on anything especially since it releases on my birthday!
Happy early birthday!
He's acting like Bethesda single player RPG's aren't universally praised 🙈
Bethesda is one of the most well known developers in the world, and they continue to deliver impactful experiences to gamers for decades. Starfield is the most anticipated game of the year for a good reason. There is a reason developers have moved their launch date as to not collide with starfield.
The last good rpg they made was oblivion. Skyrim is just an action game, fallout 4 even more so.@@Miduuza
@@RedBowlll Universally praised as in reality? The 2006 'Game of the Year', The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the 2008 'Game of the Year', Fallout 3, the 2011 'Game of the Year', The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and the 2015 'Game of the Year', the record-breaking Fallout 4? Or universally praised in your opinion? I don't think you know what universally praised means. Every single one of their games is considered to be the modern standard of RPG's when they come out. But yeah ok bud.
But i *don't want to* play the other games, i really just want to play Starfield. Especially since i've already played most of the games you've mentioned, but good points nonetheless even if I respectfully will still preorder it.
Yeah that's totally your right to do so, especially if you've played a lot of those other games already.
@@pancakesean6888 honestly i'm too young to have really been around for any actually new ip to come out in my lifetime that I'm adult for, it's special. Still, I have reservations, can't lie about that
Playing video games for over thirty years! He looks Great for some in their 40s
Unless we are counting a 6yo playing video games as part of that resume
I may look like a high schooler but I'm only 33. I'm counting when I was a kid playing Mario Kart on the SNES. Granted all I could do then was hold a button and go left and right but I'm counting it.
No.
No hesitation, no regrets.
it just works
Never pre order a game in this day and age!! You swine!
Meanwhile: me pre ordering starfield while watching this video 😂
You dont have to kill pathenax in vanilla skyrim either
You showed the throat of the world, then fort dawnguard, as if they were the same place....
Don’t know why your saying play games like Jedi survivor and the last of us 1 pc port when those have been absolutely destroyed at launch
It just works
NO! I am playing the 31st of August.
I think (hopefully) with Microsoft in charge there’s gonna be a less sweet little lies. Again hopefully
NOT MAYBE 1000% I m going 2 wait it when game are on sale game are not online co-op so no rush Jumping now or one year later it’s the same shit u can’t share your progress with anyone so no rush
"Someone who has been gaming for over thirty years..." amateur! I've been gaming since the dark ages, BEFORE graghics.
My man been playing hoop and stick for centuries
Yall dont know it will be glitch mess
Already pre ordered
That is gamepass exists.
Good video only thing I would say is now that Microsoft owns Bethesda it should be better. The reason they pushed back release was due to Microsoft’s concerns of bugs and technical issues.
This is a fantastic point I had not considered. I imagine Microsoft is a bit more risk averse with big IPs
The game ain't even out yet bro 💀
Nice job Sean. Trust me, your opinion will be in the minority as the hype has already reached defcon 1 and can't be stopped. Better to just sit back and watch peoples false perceptions get smashed in their faces like usual. Starfield could be a great game in 10 years like Skyrim, but releasing among a sea of other awesome titles, I don't see why I would care to play it day one. Then again, for all the kids that never played a space exploration game before, I can see why they're wetting their pants to experience Hodd Towards version of No Mans Sky. 🤷♂ 😂
Or do, it looks hilarious!
I’ve always really loved the Bethesda game single player experience and honestly the bugs always add to that
here waiting for sales 😂😂😂 when all bugs and glitcgesare fixed
Indeed is better to wait, ALWAYS! Videogames nowadays are a luxury (always had been but with the ridiculous prices, no thanks) Do not have hope in this thing bc Bethesda, Howard and Spencer 's LIES! But at the same time I wish it does not flop bc of the comeptition SONY urgenlty needs. In the end is just another "xbox exclusive" but they need a big game to bring back balance. Nintendo and Sony are in the bigger leagues.
This didn't age well.
I would argue it did. I've seen numerous reviews discuss shortcomings of the game from mini map, to navigation, to combat, all of which will be fixed by mods.
Yeah it did. Lowest ranking Bethesda game.
It aged VERY well
You showed a bunch of bugs.. that doesnt make what he said a lie lol.
It really is that simple Pedro.
That is just one view point. I never understand relying on reviews. Reviews have 100% always never been helpful. I have to play the game myself. So if I pre order or not does not impact anything at all. So never see why this always a problem.
@@TheBlakamon15 well they are always right, in terms of quality and the state of the game your buying. The reviewers are the players nowadays not IGN.
Will they mod redfall? Lol
Some trash can't be fixed with mods lol
@@pancakesean6888 lol
It's OVER!
Pre buying it for $100 😁
you wait and we playing remove your video very salty
a good year for remasters and sequels which is why Starfield is good, being a remake of fallout 4: the space edition
You should definitely wait before buying this game. Definitely.
Great points all around..
preordering as I’m typing this
@@isaacbiddle4681 why do you buy it now? I'm just curious, what do you get?
@@AbtinX 5 day early access. Story expansion(shattered space). Digital art book and soundtrack. And a couple skins. I got the premium edition. But the only reason I did is because I love fallout and this to me seems like fallout in space. I love the freedom with games like these. And it’s just a game that Ik is right up my ally. I think if you are just curious about this game I would wait. I’ve watched most starfield content and Ik what to expect from a bethesda game. For eveyone else that isn’t completely obsessed with nerdy space games I would definitely wait for the bugs to be fixed. But shiii I played no man’s sky and I have over 300 hours in that game so yes.
