Haha! I figured it out after doing it several times lol. For me it was user error i figured out what i did. Starting from the beginning. So 1. make a straight line using the line segment tool 2. select the direct selection tool then click on the top anchor point 3. select the anchor point tool or shift+C 4. press and hold the top anchor point and then stretch it down the straight line a bit and then let go 5. select the direct selection tool again and click the bottom anchor point of the straight line one time 6. select the anchor point tool again 7. press and hold the bottom anchor point of the line and stretch it down a bit and let go 8. Then highlight the whole line from top to bottom 9. press and hold ALT while dragging the new copied line to the other side 10. let go of holding the copied line with your mouse first and then let go of the ALT button 11. Highlight both lines then select Object at the top and then under the blend tool select 10 specified steps 12. then under the blend tool again select MAKE and now 12 lines should show up in total 13. Then with the direct selection tool highlight only the bottom anchor points along all the lines 14. Select horizontal align center and you will get exactly what he has here. In the beginning what did you do to give your lines a bell shape when you aligned the bottom anchor points? I tried pressing the "Covert selected anchor points to smooth" but it made my lines curve inwards like a funnel instead of outwards.
