How to Fix a Flat Bike Tyre without a Puncture Repair Kit Fast.

  • This video will show you how to repair a road bike tyre fast without the use of a puncture repair kit. I only ever carry one spare inner tube with me when riding my bike but if you get a second flat tire and you don't have a repair kit or the time to repair the inner tube as you may be in a race, then you need a quick and easy fix. To repair a tire is easy but to do it under pressure is a bit harder so it's best to do some practice especially if you are entering a race because you don't want to be spending to much time repairing flats. If you spend some time practicing you can be back on the road again in a few short minutes not 20.

Mate before installing thr repaired tube you need to run you fingers on the inside of the tire to make sure there is nothing protruding that would undo the work you have just done. Cheers.

The video is about learning about an alternative way to "fix" a tube, not about "how to put a tube". Do you see the difference now?, if you still don't see the point, he is assuming that you already know how to change a tube the proper way and that you are quite an experienced bicycle rider.

Cool. My idea would be a mini applicant of super glue and a sheet of paper (in a waterproof plastic bag, maype stick it under the saddle). Works in a second and you're good to go again. I did this the first time yesterday. I laughed at it, thought it was a joke when I saw it. But it really works.

About 40 years ago the patches were crap, but they are great these days (vulcanising) . 1minute max for glue to become tacky, apply patch and install tube. I've never had one fail on a push bike or dirt bike. I don't even take the wheel off on push bikes. Remove one side of tyre only, then remove tube. patch and refit. I did this last night with a torch in my mouth. It was my back wheel, it was dark and just starting to rain. It's a pain with the pannier rack to remove the wheel without tipping bike upside down, so I love this method.
I can also do the same on a motorbike, but front wheel only. The back I end up needing to remove the wheel.
PS - To find the hole, you can always position the tube between the wheel and frame somewhere without damaging it.

I'll stick to my trusty repair patches, since they are very cheap and I can patch my tube multiple times and keep using it for much longer.

Here's a tip for those without tire levers to use for taking out their tube. (I'm assuming that you have these with you or similar objects) I just used a pen and a marker (both are slightly thin) and worked my way around to get the tire (or tyre) to stick out. To do this, I pinched the tyre to allow the tube to show, then separate the two with the pen (vice versa works). With other other tool, I stick it about one or two inches away from the first one, then slid it around the tire similar to the way it's showing in the video to slightly bring it out of the rim to make taking out the tube easier.

I've been riding almost 18 months with no flats now, but I am always scanning the road in front of me and avoid running over anything in the road (works great for me as I am always riding solo, unfortunately). • @garylewis327

Good to know in case I ever get into a situation like that. But I'd rather carry a patch kit and make a permanent repair on the road so I didn't have to take the wheel off again after getting home. I'm not a racer so the extra time it takes isn't a problem. Also, for those of us with lower back issues, working bent over like you were is a big no-no. It puts an incredible amount of pressure on your lumbar spine. I'd rather get on my knees or sit on the ground than take the chance of having to ride home in excruciating pain followed by at least a week of recovery (been there many times).

One only has to apply a very thin film of the vulcanizing gel, then wait 30-60s until it is fully dry before applying the patch. Done. Tube can be fully pumped immediately.
