@The Cambot LMAO piss off with that comment. The clone wars in 2008 did NOT show “pointless side shit” you moron. NOTHING about the show was “pointless” or “sHiT” in the slightest. It’s called fleshing out a world and it’s characters vastly and massively to give it life, something your so oblivious to notice onto basic world buildings story telling.
Anakin getting knighted and a lot of the stuff he does in 03 should have been done in the films, not the show as that’s too important to skip out on in anyway.
2003 show wants purely focus on action while 2008 wanted to explore many reason for war politically, and psychological in highly complex ways which it succeeds it on.
Not that it's bad but objectively speaking storywise 2008 is VASTLY superior compared to 2003 that only wanted to focus on action which isn't bad but genndy wanted to do his think and succeeded on it greatly for a 15 min show.
The ONLY character that was better in 2003 was Grievous and that's it. Everyone else was vastly improved in Clone Wars with an enormous amount of arcs and character building for so many vast array of characters.
Preferring animation or art-style is purely subjective at that point. 2008 Clone wars is a fantastic show that is extremely well received and praised and that is more than good, it's said to be some of the best star wars media content in a long time by many so there's so much positivity there.

    • @masterexploder9668

In times of peace Jedi underwent their trials, which were a series of exams to see if they had what was required from a Knight. Not sure how many of that is legends now, but Jedi could earn their stripes surviving and overcoming various challenges. Obi-Wan defeated Darth Maul which certainly qualified him for Knighthood, though to be fair Qui-Gon already stated earlier that he was pretty much good to go, and this would free a spot to train Anakin.

Star Wars Jedi Trials (As depicted in Legends) (Note: learned there is an exception to the Trial of Insight if a Padawan shows wisdom beyond their years)
    Obi-Wan Kenobi
Trial of Skill: Defeating Darth Maul
Trial of Courage: Facing Darth Maul after he killed Qui-Gon Jinn
Trial of the Flesh: Losing Qui-Gon Jinn
Trial of Insight: Using the force to get Qui-Gon's lightsaber to beat Maul
Trial of the Spirit: Not giving in to anger when defeating Darth Maul.
(Basically beating Maul was his Trial)
    Anakin Skywalker:
Trial of Skill: Defeating Asajj Ventress on Yavin IV
Trial of Courage: Being a General in the Clone Wars
Trial of the Flesh: Losing right hand to Count Dooku.
Trial of Insight: Rescuing Master Yoda and unveiling his kidnapper (Choose your Adventure book)
Trial of the Spirit: Turning back to the light side (became a knight before finishing this trial)
    Cal Kestis:
Trial of Skill: Defeating Ninth Sister
Trial of Courage: Reveal himself as a Jedi to the Empire
Trial of the Flesh: Surviving Order 66
Trial of Insight: Resisting Taron Malicos deception
Trial of the Spirit: Facing his master's spirit and accepting what happened.
    Kanan Jarrus (Caleb Dune):
Trial of Skill: Defeating the Grand Inquisitor
Trial of Courage: Reveal himself as a Jedi to the Empire
Trial of the Flesh: Surviving Order 66/Surviving Imperial Torture
Trial of Insight: Disguising himself as an Imperial to report Count Vidian to stop a moon's destruction (A New Dawn novel)
Trial of the Spirit: Learning to trust Ezra in his Lothal Temple Vision

The Trial of Insight from the wiki was to test a Jedi's ability "see what was really in front of their eyes through use of the Force. Seeing through illusion, evaluating an individual's true persona, and unveiling lies are essential to a successful mission."
So given that this whole duel was just a Force illusion by the Temple/Yoda/the Will of The Force, you could argue that Kanan seeing past the Temple guard trying to kill him was the Trial.

But I would love even a glimpse of Asajj Ventress in live action. Especially her duel with Anakin on Yavin-4 with their lightsabers waiting for first strike while rain starts to drop on their blades, vaporizing water instantly. It was pure art. And so emotional. My dream is, they would adapt this duel as Ventress first live action appearance one day.

In times of war, Jedi Masters could knight their Padawans in the field, claiming the authority of the Jedi Council by proxy. Cal was knighted in this way, as Cere was a Jedi Master and also Cal's second master, so she had the authority in the old tradition to knight him due to the apparent MIA status of the Jedi council. Kanan's knighting was actually done by Yoda through a Force Vision in which Yoda spoke through the visage of the Grand Inquisitor, so Kanan was directly knighted "by the right of the council" at the hands of a surviving council member

As for Luke's knighthood status... through the climax of RotJ Luke had passed the trials, and it's also implied Anakin and his former masters considered him worthy of knighthood. There was never a true knighthood ceremony, and he may not even call himself anything other than a Jedi (not a Jedi Knight), which I feel works better with his character.

Not if you played the game and know who's lightsaber that was.
Cere was a Jedi Master without a padawan and Cal was a padawan without a master. Both found their path back to the Force after Cere cut herself off and Cal's ability was blocked---both due to trauma. The fact that he is knighted with Cere's former padawan's lightsaber shows that Cere is still fighting with that part of herself that succumbs to the dark side. She is moving on from her failure to train and protect Trilla and succeeding with Cal. But in Survivor we see that Cere was victorious in resisting the dark side. She also has a new lightsaber.
