      The one mistake I see is that Google has not bought Fitbit. They only offered to purchase.
      The feds have not approved the sale yet and it is very unlikely to go through this year.
      Fitbit did not buy the company pebble, they bought the technology and acquired a lot of their techs.

      Your Versa 2 can control music, you tube and other audio apps on the phone.
      On Versa, bring up music control.
      Tap the 3 dots in lower right.
      Choose the phone icon to control music on the phone.

    I actually liked your detailed review and it seems you have put a lot of effort on checking and comparing most of the features. One thing I noticed in the watch while transferring music from the windows desktop app, the battery drained so fast, from around 70% it came straight to 25% in transferring around 119 mp3 songs and below 25%, the watch actually got disconnected with the windows app and asked for charging the device > 25. However the overall battery life in general is good, it lasted for me around 2 days with half charged. In a full charge it came to 73% from 100% in around 24 hours. Thanks for sharing the details about sleep apnea as well, will check it out surely. This watch is surely with many pros and cons, however it's a good buy considering battery life, high resolution display and comfortable wearing, some good apps and a very cool look.

      CAUTION!! Do your research before buying from Fitbit. There are thousands of ex-loyal customers that have been ripped off by Fitbit. Their last update caused some of the models to literally stop functioning properly and they aren't taking responsibility for it. There is no tech support on these issues and no fix. They will only offer you a discount to buy another low quality watch from them. The BBB (Better Business Bureau) has almost a thousand complaints against the company. You can also read their Twitter replies and Facebook replies by angry customers. It will only be a matter of time YOUR watch will stop functioning properly! If you're still within warranty or refund policy I would strongly suggest getting a refund.

    My wife has just bought one of these and it's almost like we're talking about different watches! We've found it an uphill battle given the lack of support from the retailer and the lack of a handbook, etc. etc. to even figure out how to turn it on! I'm gobsmacked at the capabilities you have found on it and when she gets home I'll try and get it to do all these things. I love my Versa 2. I've had it about 3 months. Still learning it. The only issue I'm having is that it suddenly stopped syncing in the app on my phone, so it was not giving me notifications or capturing exercise minutes which is what I mostly bought the watch for. Keeps dropping the wifi. I now have to sync using my laptop. That works perfectly though. It's just a nuisance.

    Good review. I'm less keen on the watch than you, my main gripe being the terrible step tracking which gives excessive readings, including when cycling. That's common to all Fitbits though. Connected GPS is a bit hit and miss too. Lack of proper GPS is a major flaw. Floor counting and sleep tracking on the other hand are really good. However, it's very annoying that some sleep metrics are withheld unless you buy their premium subscription. Notifications are good - very reminiscent of the Pebble. I don't agree about Alexa. I find it slow and cumbersome and way less useful than Google. The watch faces are pretty naff generally and, as you say, they could learn more from the Pebble approach. Overall it's OK but could be so much better. I've reverted to Garmin during the day and only use the Fitbit for sleep tracking, for which the Garmin is indeed useless.

    • @Tirelirelou
      @Tirelirelou 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mark Armitage I do agree with you about the very poor steps tracking ability of the Versa and Vesa 2. It counts hand shaking as steps and if you walk and put your hands in your pocket, it will not register any step. As for GPS, satellite connection is very slow and often drops signal in clear sky view. For sleep tracking, it never registered more than three hours of sleep out of 8 to to 9 hours in bed... I know I was sleeping more than indicated by the Versa because my CIPAP and Lookee OX devices were reporting many instances of sleep apnea during the periods the Versa reported I was not asleep.
      I have experienced this with both the original Versa and Versa 2 models. More so, I noticed the same poor performance with 3 different Versa 1 and 2 Versa 2. I have tried Garmin Vivoactive 4 which was much better but very expensive and finally switched to a Samsung Active 2 bluetooth which gives me total satisfaction and many more useful smarwatch features

    • @JSyntax
      @JSyntax  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very good point I forgot to mention is the lack connected gps. Step counters are not super accurate, as a consumer, it's more of a proxy like most stats. Maybe I should have put a disclaimer in regards to my attention to accurate metrics versus good enough for the average person

    Hey. Great video, high quality.
    Thanks for addressing the weight lifting. Shame it doesn't fo various reps. My Galaxy Active 2 does rep counting and break counting etc bang on.
    I still think the Versa line is more accurate at times than the active 2 but I prefer how much more of a smart watch the galaxy line is.
    Fitbit pay is useless in the UK and I would like to take calls on my wrist.
    If wear os watches could last more than 2 days I would go back to wear os. But I will miss having a 24/7 always on HR monitor.
    Sigh no perfect watch yet (for me anyway).

    • @JSyntax
      @JSyntax  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, doesn't the galaxy watch/active only do a predefined workout? Meaning, you can't just do any type of exercise, you instead need to select chest press for example, prior to doing said exercise. Please let me know! If they did rep tracking like WearOS or Garmin, I'd buy the active!

    • @JSyntax
      @JSyntax  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, all these ecosystems for smartwatches have their own strengths and weaknesses. If I somehow cherry-pick all the good features from each individual type of Smartwatch and combined it into one watch oh, that would be a super watch

    • @majorskies7091
      @majorskies7091 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JSyntax yes. So for example
      For arm curls. I need to select arm curls. I can tell it my targeted reps for each set.
      This is the same with bench press or front raises or later pull down.
      *note about variation on excerise*
      Even tho the arm curls require me to initially start the excersize (to trigger the rep counting) horizontal, I can do it holding them vertical too.
      However for bench press (where the animation shows a proper bench press bench and weight) I can make the watch count it with seprate dumbbells lying down but only in a up down motion. Not bringing my arms out and in otherwise it will count false reps.
      Just take a look at what weight excerise it can track and make sure you like the way the watch would like you to do them. But, the aformenimed comment I made was to say you can change the way you do them and the watch nay or may not track them correctly.

    Sorry, but I had to replace my first Versa 2 because the active minutes kept disappearing (along with the associated calorie burn), and the second one did the exact same thing. I've had the Fitbit One, Charge 2, and Charge 3 and none of them gave me any trouble. After several weeks of trying to get the Versa 2 to work properly (both units) I went back to my Charge 3 and have had no trouble since. In my opinion, the Versa 2 is Fitbit's weakest offering and needs serious work - I was very disappointed!

      I purchased the V2 in September 2019 and it died yesterday (8/4/2020). I'm here on TH-cam trying to find a hack to get it to work and I've found nothing. I'm so disappointed and frustrated because I really loved my V2. Now I need to decide to repurchase or look into a different device. 😒

    You see, my experience with Bixby seems to be a LOT better than everyone elses. I have a Samsung gamaxy Watch and a Samsung phone and both respond to be when I say "Hi Bixvy" a lot better than when I say "Ok Google". Maybe I have the perfect pitch to my voice or something since everyone else seems to agree with you a lot more.
    But Alexa on the Versa is ALMOST a reason for me to switch. I agree Alexa is a lot more useful than Bixby (And IMHO even google). But I do have an app on my Galaxy watch for Alexa as well so... not quite. But very very close.
    My main question - did Fitbit fix their syncing problems? I had an ionic when it first came out and had to deal with that ballet of "Try to sync 3 times, restart phone and watch then it worked" thing and that got annoying. Honestly, I love fitbit since their fitness software on the phone is just excellent and better than anyone else. I don't mind Samsung health but it's not nearly as nice as fitbit. Nothing is as nice as fitbits software.

    I love my Bixby, OK Google and Alexa.
    Love the voice reply on the Versa.
    Yes you speak in the watch, it sends the voice file through the phone to their server, then the response has to be sent back to the watch.

    This is a gimmick! My Versa strap broke after just 9 months of wear. After a year, it refused to sync to my phone. I then keep getting messages to upgrade. And I only need this to monitor my heart and sleep as I am in my mid 70's. Why buy another Versa to replace one that malfunctions?

    • @tammygurl64
      @tammygurl64 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wore the Alta HR for over 2.5 years before it died a few days ago. Truth be told, I probably killed it. I bought it for sleep tracking and it was really great for tracking heart rate, sleep, and telling time (of course!). The sleep tracking was awesome! I think the Charge 4 does much of what the Versa 2 does and cost $50 less. Shopping for a replacement has put my brain in choice overload! LOL!
