    If someone buys a house for $600000 that the original owner paid $300000, the buyer is now on the hook for double the taxes??!!##

    For a standard homestead exemption in Georgia, do you get a $2000.00 exemption for only one year or is it valid from year to year?
    I have owned my primary house since 2012, I filed my homestead exemption in 2020...(first time home buyer and was unaware of this exemption).
    Of course I live in Fulton County (One of the most expensive🥴).
    Please advise....greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the video -- so how do I calculate the actual savings to determine if it's worth the time to file?

    • @LivinginAtlanta
      @LivinginAtlanta  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd recommend talking to your Accountant about it. Theyll have the most accurate info and directions

      @@LivinginAtlanta Thanks Anthony, can you confirm though if I'm interpreting the formula correctly? "Qualifying homeowners can get $2,000 deducted from 40% of the assessed value of their primary residence." -- does that mean you get to deduct a maximum of $2,000 IF 40% of the assessed value is still >$2k in property tax burden?
