Moving to Portugal is a mistake. In the next 3 to 5 years, all of Western Europe will likely face the same challenges as the UK is now. Eastern Europe is a slightly better choice, but they may follow the same trends but with a decade-long delay. Your 400K will go much further there. Russia is the best option to raise a family these days but I suspect you won't even consider it. The Sochi area has almost a Mediterranean climate.

You guys need to check out Sagres. Tiny place full of surfers in the season but apart from that just a lovely city with great weg and fish market and FIVE beaches. Just lovely
Hey guys, not sure if the region of ourique is on your radar yet. But certainly do check it out, there is a small expat community here. it’s only a hour away from faro and with being just over the border of the algarve you will notice a significant reduction in the price of houses. We moved to this region just over a year ago and although the west coast beaches are just over 50 minutes away and the algarve beaches are a little further we get to pop into the crazy busy algarve for a bit of civilisation as and when we like too! Hope you have a incredible time away exploring.

Since then I moved to the UK, been living there for 9 years and currently in Portugal contemplating whether we want to leave the UK and move to Portugal. Hello folks. Best wishes on the sale of your home and for taking on a new adventure. Portugal has been our go to place to spend part of winter from Canada for over 10 years. Am sure that you will find a great place wherever you move to. There are a few great TH-camrs that we follow who do a great job introducing folks to the Algarve. Btw ….. please look out for low barriers. lol.
So lovely to see an update! My Partner and I are working out our next steps for our Family due to similar reasons as you guys. What are the reasons for Portugal being a more viable choice? We are not in the same position as you when it comes to the financial aspect. However we will be saving for the next 4 years to give us a safety net before taking the leap.
There are so many different reasons why we want to move. Affordability, sunshine, adventure… but I guess the main reason is we just don’t wanna be in tons of debt anymore.
@@TheMichalaks 100% agree. I'm looking into it and trying to work out where we should go. Why is Portugal the one for you? We have some restrictions on where we can go, as our 6 year old is Autistic, which is a barrier to some countries.
Consider building. Our architect has a construction company that does some amazing places. Ours has taken a while, but now almost finished. 👍. What ever you do, good luck.
I really hope you find what you’re looking for! And I hope the kids will be okay with the move and settle in quickly. My parents moved from Britain to Germany when I was about 3 and I’ve never managed to feel at home or that I belong anywhere since. But in retrospect I am a sensitive person and apparently at the age of 2-3 a child needs a strong feeling of security and familiar surroundings and structures. But the boys already seem so independent I’m sure they will enjoy more days to play outside in the sun 🌞
