The kiss scene is done so well, like we can literally see how much they long, want and love each other, their desire to give into their feelings, the desperation of not caring for once about anyone else in that moment, it's something that they truly needed to let out everything that they have felt, yet the moment they pulled away from each other, you can see that while Pat is happy and relieved to see his feelings is being reciprocated and is ready to give into his feelings for Pran, but Pran on the other hand, is confused because Pat just told him few nights ago that he likes Ink, and now when Pat confessed to him and kissed him as well, he's all confused, and he's afraid of wanting to know if Pat is playing around or if he's truly being genuine with him. But even so, he's also scared, cause although if his feelings were reciprocated, he never thought that Pat would ever fall for him or have feelings for him, and because of that, he never thought of the fear that they could face if they are together while their parents and friends are up against on each other's neck, Pat is ready to be with Pran, but for Pran, he's scared, he knows that there will be consequences for their relationship, and its something that he never thought of, nor is he ready for it just yet (as of from that episode of course).

Pat's jealousy for Wai runs more deeper than what it looks like, he's not just simply jealous that Pran is close with Wai or spending time with him, it's just more about the fact that Pran played a song that is supposed to be theirs only, and now it's being shared with Wai who's more closer to Pran, not only that, Pat is jealous because Pran can able to hang out with Wai without the fear of being caught by his parents, Pran's mother approving Wai and letting him visit their home occasionally says a lot for Pat, he wants to have that too, he wants to hang out, talk and just be with Pran freely without having to worry about their parents fighting or separating them like before, that's why his jealously bursted when he approached Pran and Wai, he desperately wanted to let Wai know that they aren't simply enemies, but that him and Pran have something between them that runs deeper than that and that song is theirs only.
So true. Even in the book, Phat always wanted to fight Wai because he was envious of him.
I must say, the scene where Pat trying to find if Ink likes him back is hilarious because Pat was trying hard to flirt and see any signs that she likes him back but instead, Ink was being more attentive to his sister Pa, and asking her to feed her, its literally the cutest, we love to see it😌

This episode literally EXPLODED on the internet, especially Twitter because it was definitely an unexpected plot twist because we weren't sure where this episode would go following from episode 4, and they certainly really delivered that kiss scene so well, and it's definitely one of the best BL (not even just BL honestly) kiss scene ever, and i have not doubt that it is going to be nominated on so many best kiss scene awards, and this episode literally trend for like good 3-4 days straight with over 1mil tweets (I believe if I'm not mistaken) and it definitely set a milestone to Bad Buddy's skyrocketing success, and they definitely deserved all the success and support, im definitely happy for them😌

Yep I remember screaming when they finally kissed.. and then cried when Pran cried and walked away...emotional episode for sure
From what I remember, that scene is actually the very last scene they shot for the entire drama so the actors were at their peak in their relationship to make it as fluid and natural as possible.
Yeah and that's the most shocking part because it looks really natural but also powerful and showcases their vulnerability and love for each other from throughout the years. It was definitely a smart choice from the director P'Aof to handle this kiss scene on the last day, not to mention that most of the rooftop scenes were all filmed on that same day so that was very interesting yet amazing to hear because each of the rooftop scenes displayed PatPran's relationship status throughout the series (in ep 2 to 5, 7, 8 then 10) so OhmNanon did so well in acting in those scenes within one day.
@@anaischauvet64 they shot all the rooftop scenes on one day and if its not talent, then what else is? Ohmnanon literally set the bar so high.
To me, their reactions to the kiss were so in character. Pran is an organized person, he needs to be in control of everything and make sure everything is done well, kissing Pat and learning that he has feelings for him messes up his "organization" and he is worried about their family situation and the fact that their friends hate each other, he is overthinking about the future and what them being together actually means. Pat, on the other hand, he is living the moment, the present bc he is a more loose person, he enjoys it without thinking of the consequences.

I agree. Pat was just relieved that their feelings and longing were finally delivered while Pran knew hell could break loose and had no idea what to do next:(
What i really love about this episode is how Pat figured out his feelings for Pran so quickly, like the moment he realized his feelings for him after trying to figure it out, he didn't even hesitate to wait no longer, he wanted to confront Pran about his feelings and realization, he didn't even think of whether Pran likes him back or not, he literally just went for it and it only took him ONE episode to do it unlike in some BL series where it would at least take two episodes for the characters to act up on their feelings and confront their love interests, i like how it's like that in Bad Buddy, it gives off a refreshing feeling to see a character simply accepting his feelings and embrace them without any fear, on the other hand, we have Pran who's been in love with Pat for years, yet he never dared to try and approach him with the intentions of dating him or confessing his feelings, it's because he just genuinely thinks that Pat would never like him back in that way, though often times, you can see Pran's eyes glimmer with hope whenever Pat says or does something that insinuate in a romantic way but he just shrugs off that thought/hope because he doesn't want to fall even more for Pat (we know he failed at that) and get his hopes up, it's just very interesting to see the difference between Pat and Pran's personalities when it comes to approaching their love interests and how they either act up on their feelings or refuse to do anything.
This characteristic is so much different than in the novel. Pran is the one who accepts Pat's feelings in a day! and Pat is the one who chases after him for some time until he confronts Pran.
But Pran falls for Pat first was my main reason for watching this series. Because it hurts so bad reading how deep Pat feels for Pran in the novel.... hiks...

I was honestly suprised that they got ‘together’ in episode five already cuz usually with Thai dramas it takes the leads 300 years to realise their feelings, then there's the episode 11 curse where some bad shit happens and then the couple finally gets together at episode 12 which is the LAST episode

Pran is someone who is trapped inside his own head a lot. I mean, he liked Pat for so long, definitely since high school, but didn't act on his feelings. He is an overthinker, but his reasons for caution are valid. Whereas Pat is someone who acts. Like we've seen in this episode. When he finally realized his feelings for Pran, it took him almost no time at all to come to terms with it and act on it. Still, try to understand Pran's side. It was not long ago that Pat confessed that he liked Ink, and how he is kissing him? Who wouldn't be confused and afraid to let their walls down? Pran loved Pat for so long, he poured all his feelings into that kiss, but ultimately realizing that it would probably never happen - them would never happen. Because on one hand, Pat dated all those girls before and declared his interest with Ink, and on the other hand there is their personal history with their feuding families. And family's expectation mean a lot to Asians. So yeah, Pran is afraid.
You are wrong here...in the series Pat is totally inexperienced when it comes to relationships...he has never ever dated someone.. remember his conversation with his sister ....although he liked Ink during school days but didn't even confess ..
@@kanchanprajapati4641 I'm not wrong. Pat did date at least couple of girls since high school, even if he wasn't a good judge of character. If anything, his conversation with Pran in this episode proved that he did. Btw, I want to remind you that you can totally date someone casually, especially when you are that age. It doesn't have to be a serious relationship. Plus, I wrote my comment from Pran's POV, and Pran at that time wasn't that close to Pat, and he didn't know how successful or not Pat's attempt at relationship were. All he saw was Pat with girls. Hence his statement in the flashback "you always end up with the one you like". Btw, Pat didn't confess to Ink, because he was afraid of ruining their friendship. Not because he was inexperienced.
Finally you have arrived at one of the most important episodes of the series ❤. A curiosity is that Nanon (Pran) started crying after the finalization of the recording of the kiss scene. He really felt the character 🥺
and he also cried again when watching the scene during a reaction to the episode 🥺

@@frooitbox I don't recall Nanon (Pran) reacting to episode 5 but he did react to episode 4 in Safehouse and cried. Both Drake (Korn) and Ohm (Pat) comforted him. Nanon and Ohm reacted separately to a couple of episodes with the director P'Aof and his friends and they reacted together to ep 12 on P'Jenny's channel. The safehouse reaction doesn't have eng subs but the other ones do.

I think the kiss scene showed their characters so well. Pat being relieved and happy and Pran overthinking about everything and worrying about the future. Because in the end, neither of their parents or friends would actually approve…

So true! I commented that in earlier episodes. Doing so in Episode 5 is FAST compared to most BL that leaves you with scraps in the final few minutes of a series. Hopefully, BB will set a new trend in BL series.

9:50 You got it in 1 and it made me so happy. Many western fans on discovering BL really resent it when a character doesn’t use the word gay but describes what is often his first time recognising it, I love this person for these reasons specific to him. Not only is that language more culturally appropriate but as you say it’s more inclusive and doesn’t preclude someone coming to recognise himself as bi, pan, gay etc later on in their journey of self discovery.
Lately creators have been inserting an assertion of gay identity from the start and it’s clear it is for the benefit of fans who are not Asian. I really think BL is best when it is authentic rather than adopting queer politics from elsewhere and just performatively incorporating it into the narrative where it has no local resonance - you’ll notice it when it comes up. Glad you finally got your first BL kiss 💕

5) first off I love how ink keeps catching them each time when their having a moment together and she not even shocked when she sees it she just teases them like she’s been waiting her whole life for them. And all the doodles that are in prans drawing book that pat was reading are basically all the things pran thought or wanted to say to him during those moments but he didn’t. It’s so cute to me how pat loves pran smell and doesn’t even try to hide that he does and pran gets all shy by it. I adore pa and pats siblings relationship it’s the most realistic I’ve ever seen in a show and it’s funny how their legit testing all these things and not one is working and pa is like bro just give it up now it’s embarrassing. And it’s so cute how pat and pran did the signs and right away pat started noticing them and actually started thinking instead of just brushing it off and ignoring them like most other boys would do. And it’s about time that korn actually gave some good advice and did something good besides fighting. I think the reason why pat didn’t get jealous when he saw the girl is because he knows their not close or around him vs when wai called he got so upset because he knows their close always around each other and that it would make kinda sense if they like each other cause of how close they already are. And I think what most people don’t realize is the reason why pat is so jealous of wai is because he has everything that he wants he gets to be openly friends with pran gets to hang out with him without having to worry or hide he gets to be as close as he wants to him and he gets to come over his home and his mom loves him that’s all pat wants other pran but can’t have because of their whole family situation and you can tell that’s he’s getting tired of the whole thing because now he stops his friends from fighting even when wai keeps kinda trying to start stuff again now he just walks away and it’s sweet how pran get worried when he can tell that something is wrong with pat. But I think that’s also why when wai and pran came in on the bike pat said come here like it was normal to basically show wai without telling him straight forward or that him and pran has history too but no one knows. But I can understand why pat kinda blew up because he went through a lot form thinking your straight and like this girl to finding out you actually like the guy your secret friends with and is supposed to hate to not knowing of your new crush will like or or already had someone he wants to seeing him being close with someone you don’t like and that person gets to do everything you wanted from the beginning but never realized you wanted it etc it’s a lot to take on all together especially when he doesn’t have anyone to tell all this to he’s basically going through it all by himself confused and lost. But I also understand pran because he’s right too pat can’t keep acting like their a thing when they aren’t even supposed to be friends and act all funny and keep playing with his emotions even though he doesn’t realize he’s doing it. But their kiss was amazing you could feel their emotions how the kiss went from them both wanting to kiss each other to them needing to kiss each other to get all their emotions they had bottled in out finally and pats brave because he didn’t know if pran would like him or even liked boys before he kissed pran so he really took his chances. And most people don’t realize the reason why pran walked away at the end cause it was a lot for him thinking the guys you liked most of your life likes someone else but turns out he likes you and pran is a over thinker so he’s thinking about everything wrong from the friends and the family hating each other vs pat is care free and lives in the moment he doesn’t care about anything but pran now that’s why at the end you see pran crying while walking away but pat smiles then turns into a frown because only after pran leaves does he realize what pran already realizes during the kiss it’s just all so good and a lot sorry that it’s so long they just did so amazing

There was a collective "OMG" when this ep aired. Pran walking away because he knows they can't be together with the way their families are. That kiss itself was a roller coaster ride of emotions. @@CoreySchultz people who watch thai bl shows know.. Kisses are something you expect to be in the last episode.. Asian bl series are not like western stories which has gay characters in it... Many of these shows are like 13+ so there are many scenes which are not actually shown when it airs on TV... For full episode are available on online platform like TH-cam and weTv.. In this series they actually bashed many typical bl series and their stereotypes

I would then add emphasis on the fact that such a substantive kiss in ep 5 (especially from this production house) definitely departs from the expected pattern of Thai BL.

So, no criticism was implied or intended. And that also explains why it's words you don't know. Oh, and I purposefully avoided use of the word "bashing," which is commonly used to describe violence against gay people. I really didn't like that one word, used in this particular way, even though your sentence didn't mean it that way. I'm weird. Just don't worry about it.
I absolutely love the way you got Pat's hope in the kiss with Pran's fear. I always remind people he got sent away for 2 yrs just for playing in a band with Pat before. I defend his fear even when it's frustrating. This episode was THE episode but I love 4 and 5 as a package really because we got to see them both fully realize their feelings for each other. I appreciate that the show took it's time because you become so invested in their love by the time the kiss happens.
The two iconic lines from this episode for me are "Come here!" cause the way he said that and then Pran was like literally just walking over without question and "It was depressing lonely for me" I have no shame I cried at that point. Ohm was not supposed to cry as Pat before the kiss only the Pran character but he said he could not help his feelings. I am so glad they kept it in. I just love that you guys are watching this. I have enjoyed you for a while I just never thought you'd do BL let alone my all time favorite tied only to I Told Sunset about you.
Kisses in BLs take forever. Having it in episode 5 was actually kind of ground breaking for the show.
From what I can understand Pa does Pats washing and more chores and she has to bring his washing over to his dorm., It’s something that is expected of her to do as Pat is older he is also a boy.
Also the whole Uni department fighting is a huge thing, they have to go through hazing to even be recognised by their seniors when they sign up for the department and there is a huge rivalry between departments Engineering,Architecture,Medicine,music all have their own sites and canteens and meet for mixed classes infrequently. There is true pride for getting into a department and you are expected to uphold that pride, it builds great bonds that are carried through to adulthood but breeds a lot of Ill feeling and even contempt. It seems to me that most BL’s involve a lot A LOT of fighting but that seems the norm tbh .
In a culture where you are expected to do better than everyone else , earn a lot of money then care for your family and your parents it’s a tremendous amount of pressure. So if you do not feel in control of your own life some people then try to control what they can in theirs hence the hence school bullying ,fighting and the worlds highest suicide rates .
But this is part of the Asian culture, parents have seen such poverty and opportunities are rare to get yourself out of that -unless your family is wealthy . We may not understand all of their beliefs but I obviously understand that parents want better for their children and so push them to achieve more
Ink and Pa don't have a terribly large age gap, right now Pa is a senior in high school and Ink is a first year student in university so they have like a 1-2 year age gap.
oh and the actor (Nanon) playing pran actually sang the song, the name of the songs is Just Friend 🥺

What I thought was so masterful about that kiss scene is the conflicting emotions for Pran. Pat is so relieved that he was finally able to get out what he was feeling, and Pran returned the feelings, but Pran is thinking ahead to the impossibility of it all. "Why are you doing this to me!?" is definitely the feeling he has because now it's even worse. Before when they were pretending to be enemies, Pran didn't have his heart on the line, but now that Pat is giving him home, he's also raising the stakes to heartbreak level. And all of that flashed on Nanon's face, bravo to him!
... and after this episode, it broke the internet !!
Then from here on until the final episode, Bad Buddy would be #1 tweeted WORLD-WIDE every time it aired on Friday (and remained there closed to 24 hours CONTINUOUSLY).

Also btw, a lot of people are recommending Not Me and I just want to say that if you do watch it, please don't expect kisses right away. There's more to this series than just the BL aspect. But after the first kiss, you do get a lot of kisses aha.

That was THE BEST kissing scene in BL series ever. The build up, the way they held each others' head, the movement, even the tears. Pran cried and went off because he was so confused: he loves the only person his family hate. They were trapped in between their family rivalry. Just like the modern and gay version of romeo and juliet I suppose. Nanon's acting was sooooo good.
This kiss scene was EVERYTHING. The build-up for this scene was really good, I even cried lol.

So glad to see my favourite youtubers watching this! I would recommend ’Not Me’ to react to next. I loved Bad Buddy and it quickly became my favourite Thai bl series, but after watching Not Me soon after, it overtook. It is amazing because it has great acting and chemistry as well as the soundtrack and plot, but also because it addresses real problems in Thailand and centres around discrimination against LGBTQ+ and the disabled community. It doesn’t have the ‘cheesy’ aspect that Bad Buddy has, but I would love to see your reactions to it ❤️

The actors are truly best friends in real life and they said themselves to be soulmates. Like for real Ohm (Pat) and Nanon (Pran) have such a special bond, a truly pure love. Ohm Pawat is an actor used to play roles in the Thai Boys Love industry, but he wanted to change to sum different and stopped the bls for a while as he rejected the role of Pat in Bad Buddy, but the director asked him "What if you work with Nanon?" (This Is the first BL role of Nanon), so Bad Buddy came to be just because of them two. See, you don't cringe with their interactions at all. In real life they're very close and sweet without the need to clarify their sexual orientation as well. Love and respect is the key.

I also feel that u guys are forgetting..their families part in their life..their family's hatred for each other is a big part of the storyline..I mean that is what started everything in the first place..so maybe this could explain to u why they were crying while kissing and why pran just left...the coming episodes are gonna be awesome!!
The kiss scene 🥺 basically, I cried (the whole fandom cried) A LOT because of the accumulation of feelings. Pran cries because he understands they both like each other but they have everything against them (family, friends, faculties) and every moment that happened since they were children until now was too much for them.
I cheered when Pat kissed Pran...loudly...at work, in my office. Then when Pran pulled Pat in and kissed him, I started crying because I KNEW what was going to happen knowing Pran... It was an emotional rollercoaster and my office mates were so confused. 🤷🏻
In the scene where Pat asks Korn for advice (excised from the RV), Korn jokes about a ghost as the answer to how you can tell you like someone. That line is a wink to the BL audience, as Ohm's prior BL series with director Aof, He's Coming to Me, features a romance between a human (Ohm) and a ghost. That series also has a memorable rooftop scene.

the behind the scenes of that kiss scene is even more heartbreaking
The intent of the writer & director was that Pat go through everything and fall in love in this episode - Ohm made the choice to perform him as having been in love since high school and just realizes it in this episode. It really works. Pat "likes" Ink, he thinks, but he never really makes an effort - now that he realizes he likes Pran, he's making all the effort. Pran stood back all this time, crushing with no hope and getting crushed harder at just the slightest hope last episode - he's scared: it can't happen because of their family, their friends, Pat likes Ink (as far as he knows), they're both at least a little drunk (and we all know about drunken kisses & confessions)...
That whole last scene, starting from "Come here." just kills me every time. I cry when they cry.
i'm cry laughing at all the funny side comments. especially when you said "threesome" and "now sit on his face" because it was such a serious scene and then..😆 caught me completely off guard 😂

One of the best EP of this series 😭😭😭 It's already frustrating enough for Pat for him to not be friends with Pran but now that he realizes how much he loves Pran, being not able to talk to him freely is so infuriating that's why that scene with Wai is so heated. Oh God, top tier kiss that they literally gasping for air, Pat's words about him being depressed without Pran burst me into tears and that beautiful teardrop from Pran, so good, amazing acting. The difference between Pat and Pran in that kiss is Pat is relieved, happy and content while Pran kissed back holding to that moment as much as he can because he knows that their friends and his mom will not approved with them also he is confused because he thinks that Pat still likes Ink because of that conversation in the bed 😭😭😭 In this episode BTS, Nanon cried so hard after that kiss, he feels Pran's emotions like it is his own, he understands his character very well. Great reaction 😘😘😘 amazing job 😊😊😊

It is a relief to pran, having to kiss your long time crush, bet he was on the cloud 9 at that moment. But when it stops, everything inside his little cute head that he kept for years just explode. They can't be together, they can't date each other with their family being eo's enemies, and also their friend groups who despise each other... They're literally in the middle of chaos. He realized he has no future with Pat, that's why he left.

this is without a doubt the kiss i anticipated the most but also the only first kiss scene in which i felt really emotional. you can clearly see the love, desire, confusion, and fear in pran’s eyes within seconds. nanon did such an excellent job with this one. it’s the quickest my feelings have gone up and straight back down 😭
also just wanna add that this scene gets 10x more emotional when you realize this is the first time pat and pran have been in a temporary bubble away from all the rivalry within their friends and family, and the first time they’ve allowed themselves to feel their emotions towards each other through their own terms. it must’ve felt like a huge burden lifted from the two, only to come down heavier on pran :(

finally, the kiss scene!!😙 definitely one of the best, if not the best ever kiss scene i've seen in a thai bl series. i reacted exactly the same as corey like when they kissed i was rejoicing but then my smile dropped so fast when pran walked away. lol i was a bit confused at first but i realized later why pran acted that way and why he was still crying. you can definitely tell by the way pran kissed pat that it was his moment where he felt like he's finally kissing the person he's liked for so long and his feelings are finally being reciprocated. but at the same time (pran being the less carefree of the two and kind of an overthinker,) he's also already thinking about how even though they have feelings for each other, that things probably won't work out or that they can't be together because of the conflict between their families that's still unresolved☹

The build-up to the kiss was so full of yearning and longing that I was totally like you two going "just kiss already!!!" And when they finally do it's such a cathartic moment and you think they'll finally be happy but then... the twist, Pran walks away and you just see Pat looking so confused and it makes your heart just sink. May I suggest you watch this scene again and really look at their faces, Pat is so happy and relieved, he realized his feelings and acted on them spontaneously, but Pran, even though he's wanted to kiss Pat for years, carries all the worries and hesitation of the possible relationship because of the rivalry between their families and faculty. That's why his return kiss, although passionate, seems desperate as well. It's like, " I've had feelings for you for so long and this may be the first and last time I get to show it". EP 5 was so intense and well executed.
