I didn’t realize you left Czech Republic. I’m going in June for the first time…pretty excited! I work from home but my company doesn’t permit me to move outside of the US-I can within. They’ll fire you for even taking your laptop out of the US….i think there’s many companies like that. I’d be irritated living in a place like Portugal and being displaced by foreigners. I think eventually some of these counties/cities will put an end to remote work foreigners if it gets much worse. Those and air bnb’s that have hurt housing availability.
Yeah that’s a very strict work laptop policy but I think it’s pretty common! And for me I feel like things such as digital nomads and airbnbs are really double edged swords because it’s great for some people but also can hurt locals who don’t profit from the money that it brings in and/or get priced out. When I was in Bali I felt like it just took so much advantage of the population that lived there before remote work blew up.
