Old Cramlington Windmill

The Windmill tower is dated 1749 with initials M W (Matthew White) on the lintel of the south door. It still has good-quality squared stone. Straight-sided round tower without any external division between the 3 floor levels. Chamfered plinth. Opposed doorways on the ground floor, 3 small windows on each upper floor, all openings in chamfered surrounds. Interior has 2 plain lst-floor fireplaces, various sockets for floor beams and machinery.
Intact shell but no roof or floors.
It is pretty much impossible to see this building unless you drive on the only road leading to the nearby factory. It is a Grade II listed building situated in a farmers field. On my first visit i actually parked across the gate and had to run back to let the farmer through with his spraying machine .... woops, typical he would turn up at the same time .....
Went back a few days later for the drone footage.
An interesting building which obviously only houses birds now. That hawk was beautiful :)
