@@ilovecody7514 Eh, it had a few good songs. As usual for Ghostemane albums. He's a decent artist, but he works better from a song basis, not on the flow of an album, imo.
Bowie and Reznor are both groundbreaking in different ways. In all honesty, I don't think Reznor wants to be "accessible", flashy, and dramatic as Bowie was, and I don't think Bowie would have wanted to be as cold, dark, and serious as Reznor is. That makes Bowie a more household-friendly name as a byproduct, but both are artists doing their thing; one just has a sound that is easier to digest than the other.
Literally one Era of bowie aka ziggy stardust is a flashy type, bowie has been dark and has been in a dark place and created a charector, thin white duke, and yet if someone was dressed as the th in white duke it is still a recodnizable character , not as recodnizable as ziggy but still recodnizable. Also if david bowie aka a person who was a man involved with groupies, and drugs and sexuality is easier to digest than an emo person I mean come on.
Donuts is beautiful, profound, powerful and soulful. My favorite track is Last Donut Of The Night - that track makes time stand still! It isn’t mediocre or overrated in any way. Long live J Dilla
Dan Bing The sampling on that album is just as inventive as his other beats, if not more inventive, because of the lack of equipment he had. You can’t say a song like Don’t cry or Workinonit aren’t impressive as hell. Many of the songs didn’t even have added drum beats. Also, not only is the beat work on here fantastic, but you also have the album concept that puts the album in a completely new light. Whether he intended it or not he made a concept album where he reflects on his death without saying a single word, instead opting for vocal samples. In that context, it makes the album a lot more emotionally resonant than it could have been, and makes for some incredibly powerful moments. That, I personally think, edges this above his production on something like the Fantastic vol. 2, or the Shining.
I think people only hate Donuts cuz it's insanely popular and people think they're being cool by hating on it. Same with Illmatic, 3 Feet High and any other album that gets tons of praise all the time
