Thanks David for talking to us and not at us. A quality of life hard to find. Your videos are outstanding but coffee time is amazing and insightful look into the past and in today’s world. Keep up the great job in both categories, beekeeping and coffee table.
I very much like coffee time, I watch it here in the UK. It reminds me of when the lovely elderly man who taught me bee keeping was alive, he used to come round, go through my bees with me and then we used to sit down and have a cupt of tea and a biscuit and discuss what we had seen.
I like the coffee time chats, I watch these vids in 2 parts, one for the bee content and one for the coffee time. It's like having an extra video for free 😊 This one took me back...we were quite poor farmers back in the 60's and 70's and I remember the first camera dad had was a square box that you looked down into, I think it was called a Brownie, and the image you saw in the viewfinder was upside-down. Colour was a long way off for us. Ah, nostalgia.
I like coffee time, this one was great it took me back. Ha ha ha those old cameras really hit or miss. Your chats always make me think and or provide food for thought. That is a valuable part to our own well being, and part of putting ourselves first. You have been very helpful to me as a new bee keeper. My family all take part in this new hobby to create more pollinators, and of course, we all want the best for our bees. Thank you for the know how, confidence, tips and tricks as well as valuable insight and food for thought. It was a great way to start my day today.
I admire your work. I have spent the last 25 years in Radio. I am retiring and moving from the Florida Keys to Oklahoma. I am hoping to begin my first apiary and my first TH-cam channel in the coming months. I know it takes three years to develop a personality in radio that is recognizable to the locals. and I know there’s no time like the present to begin. Thank you for the inspiration and the education. There is a lot of bad information out there that yours is a voice I trust.
I enjoy coffee time. I took photography class in college and my favorite time was in the darkroom processing my photos. I gave my grandson the camera I used. He has taken some beautiful Northern lights up at Mackinaw Bridge. Thanks for sharing.
Nice to know all those queens I’ve raised or bought were not wasted and it was a figment of my imagination.Your videos of bees are very talented. I have seen things like the bees balling never seen anywhere else. It takes dedication like you have explained it’s a lifelong creativity.
I like the coffee time. Sometimes I’ll watch the bee part first and coffee time separate. By the time I sit down to tune in for coffee, it’s somehow always a topic that is helpful for whatever is going on.
Love your videos and coffee time just bought your ultimate online class so much wonderful information in those classes listening to you is like when I’d listening to my grandfather growing up ( just with less swearing ) you’re the mr Rodgers bee keeping
A+ for content and presentation David! Thank you. I really enjoyed your coffee talk thoughts and suggestions. Another reason to replace an older Queen in July, a couple of times I have had hives supersede their older Queen in late summer/early fall. The result is usually a poorly mated Queen who turns into a drone layer in winter or is superseded again in late winter/early spring when there is no Drones ( or very few).
Thanks for the instructional videos and for coffee time. I enjoy the content of both of them. the 1st camera I was introduced to was the "Brownie" but used the 110 alot as a child. I am really enjoying my learning time as a "new-bee" in the beekeeping arena. I was actually able to go with my mentor today and conduct my first hive inspections, wow is all I can say.
Yes! That's great insight. It's encouraging for life and also for beekeeping. I just find it so thrilling that we "made" some queens (after taking your online course). I feel like we might just figure this out. It's good to remember that success doesn't come overnight. I totally subscribe to that philosophy. My mother and I enjoy beekeeping together. She is 76 years old now. We have a grand time working the bees and learning together. We screwed up our courage and did some mite washes today. Thanks for the coffee time!
Hello David your coffee time is good . With all I have going on I do not get to watch when you are doing it but I finally get around to it. Thanks . My first camera was the old box camera the Brownie thinking it was a 110 maybe or something like that an I still have it an yes you an I are just about the same age an my Father has a 8mm also . Years past an I loved taking pictures also so I saved up an I got a Pentex ME super wow what a great camera. I think there was like six lenses plus a X2 that I had . Thanks for your video’s. THANKS
Enjoy your channel ! Brought back a memory when I was getting ready to leave for college. My Father , who was never a touchy feely guy, came home from work that day with a Sony Walkman for me ! Now at age 60 you brought back a tender moment in my life, thank you ☺️ I miss my parents so much. We didn’t have an extravagant upbringing but we always had a home filled with love. Thank you for bringing back that sweet memory.
I have been thinking about beekeeping for years. I like bee talk and you give an all around look at it. You drink what ever you want, I like moonshine, and keep the info flowing. Thank you, for the flower bees a few back. I have a good sized Blackberry patch, I'm about to cut down to get it back under control. I am thinking about adding Elderberry in that same area. Once those two start flower, I'm thinking bees should go in. Thanks again.
I love "coffee ☕ time Love my alltamit on line classes. Need the link to buy a coffee cup. Thanks for all you and sherry do. Can't live without my bee's MJHSr.
Thank you David for all the invaluable info. I can’t always make the live coffee time chats but I watch them later. Thanks for all your time consuming preparation.
One thing to remember about the old instamatics or brownie cameras. Buyng the camera was just the initial expense. You also had to buy film and you had to pay for processing and postage to mail the film. Now you take a picture with no additional cost and have it immediately.
I enjoy your videos so much! I randomly got a swarm in an only whiskey barrel back in May. So I am a new want to be beekeeper. I purchased you master beekeeper course and am so excited to learn. I enjoy your coffee times and stories. I find it very interesting that you lived close to Terre Haute as a child as that is was our closest big town when I was a child growing up. Another interesting fact I was born about and hour from where you live now and still have close relatives there. I feel these fun little connections made through coffee time just make you even more relatable. Sometimes I sit and listen to your videos when I should be working. Like now!!🤣🫣 God Bless you and Shari.
110 film cartridge for your 110 camera. The other one, I believe, was 12 exposures. The 125 film cameras were either brownies or professional. 35mm was a popular choice for camera geeks, too! But average family was the 110 camera. With the flash bulb. If you tried to change it quickly. Blistered fingers. Remember the square rotating flash bulb? 4 shots between bulb changes.
Well THIS probably explains why a 2 year-old robust hive that I did a split on, then SWARMED in June '22, did NOT make it through the winter. BIG LIGHT BULB - - and a little 'duh' to myself... 🥴 Lesson learned. THANKS David!
Hi David, this video is very timely. I've got three hives and on two of them I really don't know how old the queens are. I will be replacing those two next week after watching this video. I always look forward to coffee time. Keep it going.
Kodack 126 film. Later they came out with 110 film. And the failed "disk" film. We started with 8mm film and then moved to Super 8. Fun times, fun subject!
I got my first hive back in April...Then someone gave me a swarm. So I have two now...Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am subscribed and look forward to each video. I have so much to learn.
I’m old enough to remember all of that. I remember the smell of the glue used in editing. My dad also took lots of 8 mm home movies (no sound) I also remember developing my own black and white photos in a dark room.
Good evening David. Thanks for all the help you have given. I have a 2 year old queen lays pretty good. Problem I have is the hive as a whole is lazy. Could this be as you mentioned that she is not producing the pheromones to control the hive. Temperament is great just not keeping up with the other hives. Love coffee time!! All the videos are good and helpful.
nice fitting video cant watch coffee time was taking a bike riding break but my nugget from today made me wonder why two hives just will not stop making male bees going to go with replacement time the nugget i take away from the video not need any queen i have access . but you helped me make a decision thank you back onto the trail
Can you do a video on absconding? We pulled honey from our first hive two weeks ago and did a full inspection, everything looked great . The brood pattern was good, we left several frames of honey and other resources looked good. Three days ago we noticed a lack of activity around the hive and when we opened it up yesterday it was empty. Our other two hives looked fine inside, now we are wondering if we may have taken too much honey or did something else that may have triggered these girls to leave. We are in our second year of beekeeping and love learning from your videos and are so glad we found your channel.
Love coffee time! I prefer pour over coffee as well. I just did a couple vertical splits with double screen boards and am hoping to have mated Queens back and laying by next week. Was thinking of using these queens to replace a couple old queens that I have. David, do you have any videos showing how to replace a queen? Thank you for all of your videos!
Coffee time depends on subject matter. This one, yes, I like. I miss film for pictures. Cheaper equipment, better for our trips to the races. As far as bang for the buck and getting great shots of cars and bikes. Digital has it's advantages sure. But when trying to get pics of things at medium to high speed, just to much cost for one capable. I had a cannon something 35mm and four lense options, tripods, and had less the 700 in the whole kit!
I went through that phase I had all the equipment, and then I got into developing my own film in a little dock room that we put down in my basement I actually had a in lodger. I wish I had it today Charlie PA.
David, I would love to support you through your store. I have two thriving colonies in eastern Washington State this year and want to make sure they are healthy going into winter as we are about to start a long, dry derth in my region. With a $100 budget, what is the best bang for buck way to get them as strong as possible going into our long, cold winters up here(late oct-apr). All the different feeding methods are a bit overwhelming. Thank you so much for you videos as they have put me on the right track to becoming a sucessful beekeeper.
I have a hive with package bees. My one and only hive. I requeened it because it was a bit of a hot hive and the workers kept trying to supersede her. I had to keep hive tooling charged supersedure cells while my queen was on order. I moved my old queen into a 5 frame nuc incase something goes wrong with this one. So now I have a hive and a half :^P On a side note I got a BeeWeaver Queen, I'm hoping she makes a nest full of mite murderers.
I love coffee time, thank you for sharing all your knowledge and wisdom with the world! Many blessings to you and your family.
Thanks David for talking to us and not at us. A quality of life hard to find. Your videos are outstanding but coffee time is amazing and insightful look into the past and in today’s world. Keep up the great job in both categories, beekeeping and coffee table.

I like coffee time!! Fyi.. back in the 70s, it was a 110 camera. 😂 If you also had a transistor radio, your day was full!!
Always a good watch, including McCarthy
Kodack 126 film. Later they came out with 110 film. And the failed "disk" film.

Coffee time is great. As a woman and mom, it’s real important to keep your cups full or else you have nothing to give others
I like coffee and and lid of whiskey and two spoon sugar, taste yummy 😅
Love the coffee time👋😊.

Does the species of the queen (when requeening) need to be the same or "similar" to the species of the hive you are putting her into?
Like coffee time love the videos keep it up
I used cameras like that then moved on to an ae-1 i still use the lens on my a6400 :)
