Hey, i am a preoffesional beekeeper from Germany and what u have just done might generally be a good idea in terms of feeding your bees and providing extra protein and vitamins but has one big problem: you propably dont know this but if u heat honey, sugar or other produkts that contain fructose to over 21 degrees Celsius parts of the suggar are gonna be dekompositioning into Hydroxymethylfurfural (short hmf). Hmf is not toxic for humans thats why it is irellevant if u eat it but it is highly toxic to bees. You also propably dont have this in the US but in Germany honey can have a max concentration of 40mg per Kilogramm of Hmf thats why cold conditions for storage are crucial. If the value exceed these 40mg it is no longer Honey and ha to be thrown away or sold as baking Honey.( this almost never happens) By heating the suggar mixture up to such high temperaturen as u did in your Video u skyrocket the Hmf concentration. This leads to a high casualty rate amongs the bees which is fine in summer because of the high brood activity but not in Winter where u just shred through your colonies. As u can immagine seeing you do this filled me with absolute terror So pls dont do that ever again. A way that is way safer and healthier for the bees is if u make suggardough. This is basicly just powder suggar and honey that gets mixed till it has the concistency of playdough. In this u can add whatever u like and u can store it without freezing it just in a bucket. If u have anymore questions feel free to ask me.
Thank you so much for your insight. I'll reach out to the person I got this recipe from to see what they say. What your saying is defiantly something to consider. Thanks for watch and also for you comment.
i've been told to add light corn syrup like 60 ml for 2.2 pounds of sugar to make the fondant soft or not hard as yours but i gotta be honest i haven't made fondant patties but when i do i'll add the corn syrup maybe you can try it since its winter with a small amount for experiment
Hmmm haven't heard of that before. I think the idea behind this recipe is that the heat and moisture from the hive will soften the patty However we like trying new things so we will check into it more for the future video. Thank you so much for your comment, please let others know about our page. Any time you have comment we would love to hear it. Have a blessed day.
@@rebeccaglaze6863 for the corn syrup you want to avoid the HFCS i searched and found LIGHT corn syrup doesn't have HFCS, But anyway adding small amount and to fondants only is ok no big deal, I searched on BeeResource forums to see if anyone ever did add corn syrup and found some guy asking about it no one told him he's wrong, but noticed the HFCS what you really need to avoid
Thank you for watch and asking a question. Here's the link on Dave Burn website. If you go to the bottom of the page of his Winter be kind boards you will see his recipe. We add one teaspoon each of Honey be Healthy and Amino B booster. Plus we add a little dry pollen sometimes to the mixers and well as sprinkle it on the tray before we pour the mixture in. Hope that helps. Have a bless day.

Very nice I watch David Burns also. How did you get the directions for the candy patties? Thank you
