Oh my goodness, this is such an engaging style of flight review! Love it. Honestly I don’t see why ANA is specializing their A380s for HNL. They could really just put them on any US mainland flights that have a decent demand or even European flights. I’d be happy flying this for 12+ hours.
Correct and also LAX by replacing B787-9 on NH5/6 at a push use it on NH819 RJAA-RPLL by carrying NH869 passengers RJTT-RPLL. On HND/NRT-MNL routes JL = NH > PR also LAX-MNL market even though PR103/113 are nonstop but NH5/105 to NH819/869 are a stop over route via NRT/HND leaving travelers to choose BR11/15/5 to BR271/261 since TPE is GMT +8 like MNL
Another great review in a great style. Without a doubt, my favourite flight reviewer these days. Keep it real! As for hedging and edging.......a bit of both doesn't go wrong.
Great video mate! Cheers 🥂 to the ANA A380 “Flying Honu” I hope to fly that plane and route in Biz class someday! Also I didn’t know JAL & JAS merged in 2003 into the current JAL! Fun to know also in 2003 was a great year the year I was manufactured! 😂 Cheers 🥂
Fantastic video. Really liking the history you’re including in videos, keep it up. Fully agree that the legroom on ANA (and JAL) makes a massive difference to the comfort of your flight. These days I avoid Qantas' ageing A330's with no legroom and bulky IFE screen that is 10cm from your face when the person in front of you inevitably reclines, unless it is a free points flight. Yes, ANA could definitely improve the English TV content on IFE, but I'm happy to trade that off for massive legroom.
Your videos are getting better bro. I've never flown ANA, but love the A380 planes. Nice to know they fly to Hawaii. I'll have to try then another time. Good to see that you were able to fit in the middle row, knowing your just under 6 feet tall.
Really interesting ... I had no idea about the ANA A380 back story. 🤔 Also appreciate the extra details and facts you weave into your videos. Are you doing this full time now? You’re really pumping out the content. I work FT and struggle to edit one video a month outside of that. 🤣🤣
Thanks mate! I'm not full time on this, just been constantly editing to try and get them out weekly! I loved your Emirates NZ flight video too btw! Your videos are very relaxing!
That last clip of the flying honu behind those Hawaiian airlines a330 should be a segue into your next video of reviewing Hawaiians new leihoku suite business class and their merger with Alaskan airlines Mahalo for the yet another awesome video!
I travel to Asia a few times a year. I recently took this Narita to HNL flight. I was so surprised at how empty it was. I was wondering how ANA can do this and why they would do this. Your explanation about why they use the A380 was very informative. Thanks.
This is the very first video of yours I'm watching, and I can't get over the fact that you look so very much like Grigor Dimitrov, the tennis player 😁.
Great video Simon. The ANA A380 story shows how corporate Japan operates. Competing companies step in ( with Government “ encouragement” ) to save Skymark and Japan embarrassment from the failed A380 order. ANA risks losses but they are owed a debt from Corporate Japan for the future hence they and not Delta were favoured to ensure a foreign airline was excluded. A very planned economy rather than capitalist approach. In the USA chapter 11 would be used and the debtors screwed. 100 years ago this was called the Ziabatsu. Fascinating stuff.
I remember ANA purchased 380 before COVID and obviously during Covid, nobody traveled. 4 years later now, inflation, cost of living and weak yen is affecting Japan so, people can’t afford traveling over seas but flight will be busier during school holiday in July-Aug, New years and March-April. Funny thing is that, many Japanese people prefer to pay a lot of money to go Disney or USJ coz it requires less days and time than going over seas.
It is insane how silent the plane is. If flown on a380s many times but I cannot recall it being totally silent - are you sure you weren't on a fake plane on a studio lot or something (jokes). Great review, my fav travel channel now.
@@FlightFormula I had a look at the flight loads later on this week out of curiosity, Economy has 100/343 occupied, P/E 36/73, Biz 16/56 and First 2/8, this is the case roughly for the next week. They are likely maxing out their cargo space since they have a lot less passenger weight to account for.
Isn’t it a safety violation that ANA didn’t dim the lights on takeoff?! Maybe I’m wrong but ICAO I think states passengers need to have a clear view of their emergency exits and path markings especially when there’s low light conditions? Or am I completely wrong. Btw love the content, the banter and the no nonsense reviews, keep it up!
The regulations change from country to country and it is standard practice for Japanese airlines to keep the lights on. Not sure how safe that is though.
No, Chapter 8 of Annex 8 Convetional on International Civil Aviation just requires illumination outisde and inside during an evacuation,. No mention I can see of dimmimng or not.
I mean they may but they are literally painted and have special interiors themed for Hawaii, also they have to fly them out of Narita but Haneda is the preferred airport for business heavy routes.
also remember they only have three aircraft. two are in use at all times and it just isn't practical to not have a backup and leave time for maintenance.
For an airline that sort of didn’t plan on ever having a380’s, they did paint the 3 best looking jets in the sky.
hahaha good point
Japan and Taiwan are crazy about themed planes, so this is not unexpected. Given they only a few of these, it makes sense to make them unique.
Bro I swear you are pumping these videos out at lightning speed, great review btw😂
hahaha cheers, i'm locked in rn fr
Excellent video. I like that your style is less “choreographed” than other channels, which I think gives your videos a more trustworthy/honest feel.
Wow, thank you!
Easily one of the BEST Av Geek channels around. This is like J class on QR: super high quality. Congratulations.

Literally the best airline YT channel. The info, humour and film style are the pinnacle of aviation YT!
Just seeing the quality of your video, and your sub count. Highly underrated!
I appreciate that!
@@FlightFormulaAgreed. Ridiculously underrated page.

Smart, interesting, informative, quirky and handsome too! Thanks for the post. Desperate to visit Hawaii as well. Virgin points junky btw.
you need to get on the emirates trans-tasman flight from syd-chc & back sometime soon. those flights are also somewhat empty IJBOL
yeah interesting ok!
Always love your vdo editing skills.
I appreciate that!
Great Video!
Recently flew this route. Empty. Good for me, but sorry for ANA. Love the A380.
Awww that NH A380 looks so great. It wouldn't have hurt them to reroute them to other higher demand routes and then fly their 787 to HNL instead.
Bro I am so loving your content, hopefully you do some Europe editions very soon 😎😎😎😎😎😎

@@FlightFormula shoutout pls?
great job. Thanks
They should just use them on another routes.
Even if the livery is more like Hawaii theme, outside of Japan, it’s just some cute turtle airplane.
Thanks for the brief piece on New Zealand's exports.🤭
i think i am in love with simon

ANA definitely has one of the nicest A380 in the skies 😍
Is the hawaii designation set in stone? Why don't they pivot to a different route, or cut frequency?
another Simon special

Surely an Emirates First Class Cabin review is coming soon
Definitely on the schedule...
Yes to ASMR channel! 😂
I love the host he’s so handsome it makes me happy 😆
Maybe try to fly the 380 to Europe and put the 777/787 on new markets 🤷♂️
Why wouldn’t ANA switch one of these A380s to a Perth Australia route? Crazy flying them all to Hawaii.
YES YES YES YEAHHHHHHHHH
lfg
The Japanese really can’t afford to travel far with the yen. The onigiri you ate would be 4 x the cost on the USA . It’s really sad for them now……
Also im from mel
If you are dumped with superjumbo aircraft, you must exploit their marketing power.
They should reconsider their A380 to fly on different route that has high capacity to make most money out of it.
Ana banana!

dah-tah? I say day-tah
just sent them to europe.
But why can’t they put the A380 on JFK or LHR? Is there some regulation?
I mean they may but they are literally painted and have special interiors themed for Hawaii, also they have to fly them out of Narita but Haneda is the preferred airport for business heavy routes.
lack of redundancy
Sorry boss. Can’t come to work today. Flight Formula has just uploaded.
😅🫶
What' stopping ANA form using these A380s on a Sydney or London route? Do we really care about the colour painted on the outside?
I guess just the paint job, they have to fly them out of Narita though which isn't their major hub.
also remember they only have three aircraft. two are in use at all times and it just isn't practical to not have a backup and leave time for maintenance.
Do you think we can eventually see ANA selling A380s to Singapore Airlines?
If you do a video every 2-3 days you can easily reach 100k subs in one month
Brother these videos take like 5 days to edit LOL
I am totally agree ANA loosing lots of money on this round for flying with an almost empty cabin.
100%
It's just cows and sheep....LOL xx
How are you still skinny with everything you eat 😅
Jacked thumbnail
😅😂
Nice and empty !
