Hi my kids are writing English as second language revision paper next week . Am glad I found this video of yours. I can revise my kids with this and other videos .Thank you sooo much.👍😊
The hardest part for me in the following course is the writer's effect. I have watched all of your videos but still I'm quite unclear about it. What should I do now?
Language analysis can be quite tricky! Have you had a go at answering a writer's effect question, yet? Is it commenting on language you find difficult?
@@IGCSESUCCESS I have answered quite a few of the writer's effects questions till now both in exams and by myself. But I still didn't get the hang of it!
@@shabnam3488 Hi There! I've been doing writers effect for awhile now and my Highschool teacher has given us an easy guide to it! Here's how it works: Triple E's 1) E valuation - Take the word/ words/ phrase that you have eyed from the paragraph. We usually start like this: The Writer Uses " [insert word/words/phrase] " to emphasize on...... 2) E xplanation - State the dictionary Definition If its a phrase, break the phrase up into parts and explain. You do not need to explain all the words, just words you think are a major contribution. 3) E ffect - Tie back the effect it has onto the paragraph / text. This is to show that you know what you are talking about. After explaining the definition, you must tie back those words and suggest things that you believe the writer meant. Here's a final Example: The Writer selects the phrase "The Light Darkness" , whereby there is a play on words including an oxymoron - "Light" suggests brightness, or something that emits it, and "Darkness" gives a contrast of dim, colorless, and gives an overall ominous feeling as the dark is usually associated with fear. This gives the effect whereby the writer was in a dimly lit space, being both "Light" and "Dark" simultaneously, almost as if he is trapped in a darkened space as beams of light pierce in - resembling an animal trapped in confinement, locked away with only a small beacon of hope. and with this, my class slowly transformed into pro-writer's effect identifiers! I hope it helped you!!!! ;D
Hi for primary english. Would they penalose you for writing more than the word limit?. Lik even for speech writing/article summary writing etc. My xam starts tommrow. Wuld appreciate it if u wuld reply a bit earlier!!

@@IGCSESUCCESS It went okay, but I think I may have misinterpreted some of the meanings in the writer's effect question. I also rushed the end of the directed writing, so I might have missed some points. You helped me a ridiculous amount though, and I'm really thankful you're doing this.
