    Yes, you talk a lot. But those that complain about it aren't listening. You're providing valuable information, not an instant answer that can be provided in 5 minutes or less. Keep doing what you do mate.

    Talk the talk bro, those that don't appreciate it can take a walk. Thanks for the awesome tutorials. I'm new to playing, 3 months now but at 40+ I'm happy to listen to someone who is thorough and takes the time to teach not just do acrobatics on a fret board. Thanks again

    Very interesting thing just happened for me after I watched this video. Being mainly a blues player, I have never really tried to solo with the major or minor scales. I play with the pentatonics a lot. I knew I needed to work on it, even though it's just two extra notes. It's been a gap in my playing. So, I popped open a jam track that I got from David in C major. Finally, the work I have done to memorize the 5 patterns of the major scale suddenly locked together and I was able to play across the whole board. It's all coming together. This video made a spark for me. Thanks!

    Hi David, I originally began following you because you played a Parker Nitefly very similar to mine (I have a white pick guard). I noticed your concern over how much you were talking. You weren't talking you were teaching and I was learning. Thank you! If folks want to watch somebody play guitar, watch one of the fine concerts. I don't want to lose your valuable instruction. Thanks.

    Hey David, don't know if you will be reading this, but thank you. Thank you for making me able to use my instrument to tell my own story. I used to be the type of player who thought playing a thousand notes a second was the mastery of the guitar. But then I realized there is a human side to it. I don't know when I stumbled into this beautiful channel of yours, but some of your videos have helped me define those emotions on guitar. The world is full of judgmental critics, but I don't see them teaching me guitar the way you do. Don't know what you get from TH-cam, but please keep the good stuff coming for our sake. Cheers and all the best!

    Perhaps I'm just at the stage in my guitar path where these lessons fit perfectly; but the content is spot on. Breaking into modal playing and adding more flair to my current stylistics is really improving my soloing. Maybe something about phrasing? If not already created. Thanks and keep up the rambling David!

    Let me try to draw a parallel here: some guy is hungry but has no money to buy food. He finds a location where he can get good nutritional home-cooked pasta free of charge and instead of being grateful, he bitches about the sauce which might not be to his liking, the way the food is served, or the fact grated cheese wasn't provided? Wow... Human nature sucks.
    Mr. Wallimann, your videos are always relevant and helpful. And I am willing to bet the great majority of us does not mind the talking; personally, I enjoy it because I am trying to learn something. I want to know what/how you think. When I just want to listen to someone playing I watch a show or stick to my iPod.
    Now, the absurdly patient and classy ways in which you handle unfair criticism only adds to the appreciation I have for you and the fantastic work you do. Had it been me, I'd have just told the fellow "If you do not like the way I create my videos, then 'au revoir et bonne chance', take your bitching elsewhere".
    Thank you for all the great tips graciously provided weekly.

    Hey David! Thanks so much for this. Every couple of months, a good friend invites me to a sort of free-form improv session with 5-10 other musicians (guitars, brass, piano, percussion). Sort of, because everybody practices some jazz/brasilian standards, whose harmonic structure is a bit intimidating. I usually come in there unprepared and can usually contribute to my satisfaction using similar techniques to what you're describing here, but it somehow feels unsatisfying. There is one of these jams coming up, and I was tempted to opt out, but you just convinced me to go. I find that jumping in and figuring out melodic lines to complement what is going on to be what "playing music" means to me. Sorry about being wordy, but thanks for giving me courage! ;-)

    Hey david! I notice a lot that great soloist play solos very horizontally really maximizing their note/tone ratio, having 2 octave in 1 vertical sweep makes me very stuck and close minded on the tone of notes that you could get from different strings on different part of the fret board. Instead of playing notes with 1 box to much, how to you learn to play more horizontally more often? To really get the best tones for each kind of pitch, is there any particular way to approach it that you recommend? thank you so much!

    On another note (haha), I think that people tend to forget the "you" in TH-cam is not the viewer, but the content creator... If anyone doesn't like the style or content on a channel I'm not sure why they have to bother with saying do this, don't do that, OMFG I'mma unsub REEEEE! Just click off and go find something you enjoy. There are literally thousands of channels and millions (if not billions by now) of videos to choose from. Angel with the Phonebox I agree. On a side note, there's a difference between negative feedback and constructive criticism. Some people are simply assholes , yet there are others who view brilliance in a channel and simply want to give tips on how to make the channel even better than it is. No matter how experienced someone may be, like David here, it is never too late to gain experience via another person's perspective.

    • @angelbear_og
      @angelbear_og 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thatguy - For sure. I don't believe I've ever seen any actual constructive criticism on TH-cam though, lol. It's pretty much "you suck," "you're gay," or, like here, "you talk too much." But that's a subjective opinion, not a critique.

    • @StratMatt777
      @StratMatt777 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love your comment!
      Complainers with low self-esteem don't bother to think about what "TH-cam" means because the logical part of their brain has been disabled.
      They are operating from their emotional child brain, endlessly on alert for stuff they can bitch about so that they can feel superior.
      And they do the same sh*t when they aren't on TH-cam. ;)
      204 thumbs up and 3 down, for the record!

    This guy has some seriously good shit to teach. If you're at a semi advanced stage in your playing and need to bridge the gaps that stop you advancing to the next level of musicianship then this guy is doing just that
    He talks a lot because the players that he actually is targeting are trying to improve their knowledge of the fretboard and are applying his lessons practically rather than trying learn every metallica solo note for note or maybe shred some Guthrie or whatever. The point is, if his talking seems like it's getting to you then you're either not at the level that this video requires from you, or your reasons for playing guitar along with your goals are just different....which is cool.....watch something else.

    Click Bait tags only suck when its on something you wouldn't otherwise be watching anyway. Who wouldn't want to watch Wally hook it up, with another enlightening tool to make you sound less mediocre? This cat is giving the secret about how to add color, to a blank canvas using your instrument of choice, and guyz is cryin about what he typed in for the fucking title. I don't care how long Wally the Wigger (you know he siphoned his six string skills from Gangsta Rap, right?) spends coming up with the title as long he spent time on what I'm actually here for. And he did again, w/ the added benefit of comic relief, provided by the trendy, yet prematurely passé: Click Bait Hate / that I can't wait/ to watch anyway. bout to turn that into some phraseology.
