    Hi everyone. Just one more tip.
    You don't have to do it all at once.
    You can start with the walls and roof (I'd always advise that you do them around the same time, as the walls could get damaged due to bad weather if you wait for a very long time to do the roof).
    Once the structure is done, you can save money for cement, windows, and the primer paint (again, I'd advise that you do these around the same time as well).
    I wish you guys all the best, and thank you for watching❤

    I also have built a house and my mistake was to tell them that I will be building a house in December (told them in January) and here come December and didn't have enough money to get started because I wanted to start till finish without stoping and each day I will wake up to answer to my family as to what's the hold until I started in January and it only took about 4 weeks and all is done now - the next project I won't tell!

If i were building a house as well, i was going to do EXACTLY like you did. Well done. I'd also save money and not tell anyone, the minute people know that there is R50K saved, they unconsciously start finding ways of spending it, next thing there'll be a burst tyre and next thing is this so for that reason, i was going to do that exactly how you did it.

    So my sister and I decided to build my mom a house. I always said to my mom I won’t buy a car until I build her a house and that’s exactly what I did. We done now by the grace of God. Building is expensive. We did exactly same thing we paid the money directly to the hardware.

    Can totally relate, I built my grandmother a bedroom w lounge, bathroom and kitchen and the materials needed to start were over R50K... I'm glad its all over now but learnt valuable lessons for when I will be building my own house.
    Don't start until you've got all the basics covered. Don't spend too on cement, buy what you need to start the project and then replen as and when needed.

    Congratulations on this achievement and I Admire you for pulling it through. I like that you know and understand the importance of having a home to go to and to be buried from in case the need arises (God forbit). Its important for us to know where we come from to know where we are going. And for you to take such a huge responsibility of building your parents a house, you inspire me and make me feel like I can do it for myself and my kids.
    Also i like the way you went about paying directly to the supplier to avoid drama and the money going where it wasn't meant to, also for you to get the quality products to ensure you build a proper, quality home. We have to do things the right way we see it will work for us regardless of who we are dealing with, I would have done the same if I had a similar project at home. And for your things to be done right, do them yourself.

    Hello Zenande. Thanks for sharing this insightful video. So you mentioned that saving money through paying it over at the hardware stores monthly is NOT ideal. How would you advise one saves the money in a profitable way so that it doesn’t lose value. Thank you.

    • @Zen_Ande
      @Zen_Ande  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Please note that comment was specific to me, I know a lot of people who have built their homes through using the store cards. This is to say, that method has a success track record.
      I kept my money on my savings account, I don't really know what interest it was earning, but I can tell you it was not significant.
      Some banks have fixed interest savings options, so consider using that as well. Just make sure you align the start of your protect accurately to the term of your fixed interest savings. Otherwise, you are going to incur penalties (someone at the bank should be able to explain this better).
      I would advise against things that you believe will get you quick money, unless you are willing to take the risk of losing it. Higher return=higher risk.
      Thank you for your question, and all the best ❤️
