I'm 67 and had arthritis in my hands and knees (and very high BP) until I went vegan 8+ years ago. I eat a well-balanced plant-based diet and eat very little junk food. I try to eat a lot of unprocessed whole foods (nuts, seeds, kale, broccoli, cabbage, sweet potatoes, berries (and many other fruits), avocado, ACV, lots of herbal teas, grains, sauerkraut, almond/buckwheat flour, hemp seed, chia, wild rice, etc.) and very little sugar, processed oil, and minimal salt. A friend of mine went on a carnivore diet. It's been a year and he eats steak 3 meals a day. His joint pain is gone that had been plaguing him. he didn't loose weight but he went down 3 pant sizes due to bloating. His depression and anxiety all but went away. He's only 28. I think the science on red meat needs to be revisited because I've heard other carnivore success stories too. It makes me think that it's red meat in conjunction with other crap that causes problems and maybe not the red meat in and of itself.
Where you source the most is so important because the stress within the animal will be reflected in their muscle and fat cells. The better qualifty of life, the higher quality meat. The carnivore diet sounds delicious! I love a good steak!!
Was he also eating less white sugar? Carbonated liquids? Orange juice instead of whole orange? A pint of ice cream a day? Congratulations to him! We often have to discover the best energy source on our own. Statistics never can pinpoint what works for every body. For me, no matter whether I'm eating mostly vegetables or my slow cook chili, those things always give me really extreme pain in knee, my tendons, and my attitude. Also, have to be on the move. If i sit too much or don't get a walk inside or outside, there's guarantee pain for me.
Absolutely! My family eat keto/carnivore hardly any veggies for about 5 years now and loving it more everyday! We have never felt better and it has changed and saved our lives! Never giving up my med rare steaks!
I eat bread every single day, however, I mill my grains and that has drastically changed my life. All the goodness in real flour, as the Creator intended, makes all the difference. I eat, no lie, two 2lb loaves weekly. Im a size 2 and 52 years old. In amazing shape/health, thanks to the Most High. There is nothing wrong with bread IF you're eating it how it should be eaten which is with the bran and unbleached! I also make banana muffins and lemon poppy seed muffins by milling grains. And it's only me eating all of this goodness. Bread and flour get a bad rap but again, that's because store bought is junk.
Newer generations are being born with more gut issues, making healthy foods cause inflammation. I can't do cruciferous veggies like broccoli cauliflower and cabbage. All healthy but they cause me pain. To tie it back in gluten intolerance is a big one and can cause inflammation despite it being a healthy grain.
The opposite happened for me. I ground my own organic wheat berries fresh every time, then switched to Kamut wheat, then learned sourdough method, ate this bread all the time, it was incredible! I gained 20 lbs over two years, got arthritis in my hands, and my reactive hypoglycemia and allergies became my everyday life. Finally I got interested in the paleo way of eating and those things went away. People are different.
If I stay away from sugar, carbs, fake butter, fake cheese, fatty fried foods, it’s incredible how much better my pain level is, but the pain in my back, a chiropractor caused two disc to bulge, a piece of it is inside the spinal canal, caused me a real bad case of sciatica and damaged my sacroiliac, oh my gosh, I lived with herniated disc 20 years, lots of pain, but this is a whole new level of pain. I actually think of going to his place of business and giving him a piece of my mind, if I was a young man, I would give him several fists sandwiches😂
Castor oil has amazing inflammation reducing properties as well as Blackseed oil. My husband has polymyalgia rheumatica, and it is helped him tremendously.
You are so correct about everything! BUT potatoes. That’s a plant. NOT a refined carbohydrate. Potatoes are a superfood, especially if you cook it, cool it and reheat it. It then is a resistant starch which is amazing for your health and extremely low glycemic. 😊
@@nelliesfarm8473 I don’t think so. He is implying that potatoes are bad. What if you grow your own? How about organic? If I remember correctly he said potatoes were a refined carb, that’s absolutely laughable as they are a plant, a tuber that grows in the earth. Potatoes are not made in a factory.
While potatoes are indeed a vegetable, they are in the nightshade family of plants which can cause inflammation because they are mildly neuro-toxic. I cured myself of Fibromyalgia by eliminating ALL nightshade plants from my diet for a year and no more Fibro! After 5 years I tried eating a small portion of each of them to see if I could tolerate them again and found that it's better for me to eat small portions 2 or 3 times a week. Potatoes only once a week at most.
@@Marta_is_here Potatoes, tomatoes and peppers are all in the nightshade family. Nightshade plants do have varying amounts of neurotoxins and are therefore inflammatory. A single serving of potato is usually a lot bigger and heavier than a serving of tomato or a pepper, so one consumes more neurotoxins in a single serving than the other nightshade vegetables. Usually. I love fresh home grown tomatoes and have eaten my share of nice, juicy big ones! But not anymore. Everyone is different. At age 60, I developed fibromyalgia. Every muscle in my body ached relentlessly. Dr. put me on Trammadol and Flexiril. They did manage my pain, but the side effects left me nearly as in-capacitated as the pain. I didn't want to have to stay on meds forever and started looking for alternatives. I learned about nightshade plants. It took 6 months to flush the toxins out by not eating any nightshade plants, but it worked! After a few years, I tried eating small amounts once a week, then twice, then 3 times a week. I've learned if I eat just one average sized potato, one tomato and very little if any peppers in a week, I'm okay. More than that and I get achy.
@@pttpforever he lumped potatoes into the refined carbohydrates category. That’s it. A potato is a plant, not a refined carb. No need for your personal history 😉

Where do you get this supplement? I realize this was a year ago. I have terrible bursitis in my shoulders and when they flare up, I’m out a week of work and level 8 pain.
Great video. I have lived experience that you are absolutely right about the sugars and carbs, but the opposite experience with red meat. When I tried the carnivore diet for a month ALL my inflammation went away. My fibromyalgia, my eczema, my brain fog, all gone. It was 75% red meat diet. Not processed, not charred, but cooked through, not rare. I used to have a lot of pain and when I eat a low (not keto low, 100-150 g low) carb diet with plenty of meat I do really well and don't have pain. I know the research is all over the place. I feel that sustainability is the issue with these exotic herbs that must be purchased or are grown in exotic climates that we cannot replicate. I respectfully ask that you focus more on annuals and perennials that are native and/or can be grown from seed, and if annuals, the seed can be saved.
I think you'll find that I have a heavy focus on locally available "HomeGrown" herbs. There are a few herbs I really like that are tropical or exotic and there are a couple of those in my Joint Support formula simply because they are amazingly effective through phytochemical avenues that are hard to come by in temperate species. Read my books and sign up for the school, I think you'll find the majority of my teaching relates to using locally available plants. That said, I also have about 5,000 students in the school many of whom don't live in temperate regions like North America and who can easily grow turmeric, devil's claw or frankincense in their own exotic backyards so "Homegrown" can have a very different meaning for them. :0) Doc homegrownherbalist.net/about-the-school/

Thank you for this talk.
Would you talk more about animal (especially cat) herbal medicine?
Shared this with a group I'm in. 👍💚
I am so grateful that I found your school. Life changing!!!
I so appreciate your videos! Thank you!
When you talk about red meat, are you mostly talking about conventionally raised beef, or are you also including grass fed/grass finished beef, elk, etc?
Most fish oil is very unethically harvested. Witch herbs are best for Omega 3s
Excited to see video love watching and reading your book. You are so easy to understand and love your sense of humor. Thank you!
I’m watching these videos trying to find something to help my hubby. He’s a stage 4 RCC survivor with the cancer having gone up into his heart. Since the surgery ~he has to take a prescription for AFIB so I have to be careful with interactions. Also, 18 mo of chemo caused neuropathy ~ to which I’m trying to find relief for him!!
Most meds he can do without but the AFIB med he has to have. 🤦🏻♀️
So much good info in these videos!
I've gotten more relief from nerve pain using wild lettuce where the prescription meds did nothing. The plant does contain a latex substance so it may be problematic for those with a latex allergy. Unfortunately research is lacking on this particular plants benefits.
Thank You Patrick Jones
Great stuff- Thanks as always!
Oh man! I am so excited to see another video from you! I can't express how happy I am to see that you are alive and well! God bless you and yours, friend! Thank you so much for taking the time to make another video!💛🙏
Excellent, as usual. Now, why is it so hard to NOT eat inflammatory foods vs anti-inflammatory foods. I'm cooking big juicy steaks as I type this.
I do turmeric&ginger tincture with black pepper × 3 a day. I'm also adding marine collagen and getting my hormones figured out.
What are your thoughts on Moringa for inflammation? I hears it was really excellent for Rheumatoid Arthritis. Are you familiar with this at all? Thanks.
Great to see you back doc been missing your great videos…interesting information about taking these herbs with pepper I knew that cumin was more effective with it added to it…I make a paste for my dog called golden paste that has quite a bit of pepper added to it how much do we add for humans?
Always love your videos!! Thanks looking forward to more. 😁
I`m so happy to see you posting more videos, I watch everyone of them and can`t wait to join your classes.
More to come! Thanks Donna
Ugh going through this now after an infection treated with antibiotics. I tried herbal rememedies but they didn’t work, but I’m trying again now to restore microbiomes
I'm learning to grow my own herbs. Do you have videos on harvesting and storing herbs? I'm enjoying learning from the videos
Thank you so much for this video! I have been suffering with severe back pain and muscle spasms for over a month now. I just hopped onto the computer to look up what to do to reduce inflammation naturally, and your video popped up. Always love your wisdom and wit! God bless you, Doc Jones!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge on inflammation. Such a big problem for so many people, myself included. I'm looking into the carnivore diet. Dr. Berry shared an article from the NIH website though it was interesting and wanted to share with you. ( EFFECTS OF TOTAL RED MEAT INTAKE ON GLYCEMIC CONTROL AND INFLAMMATIONS BIOMARKERS: A META-ANALYSIS OF RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIALS) Would like to hear your thoughts. Blessings!
At the end did you have slip of the tongue and said to click a herbal button ? lol ... That might be a good metaphor to use !
Big Herbalist hug ! Enjoy all your videos and plant talk . You are a good teacher making learning fun! Thanks and have a fruitful day!
Very good video

Cows are such a world unto themselves.
I make tea every day now. Burdock has such a dead putrid taste I put several teas together. With burdock I put Some nettle, hibiscus, real stevia with insulin, sone orange or try tangerine slice, gives a real nice tangerine flavor. If colds are around I throw in some echinacea. Having NIACINAMIDE. …..ALL DAY HELPS.
Hi Doc. I have many of your herbal products, including the joint support. Can I grind some black pepper and add it to the bottle of joint support tincture to be used as needed. Or is it more effective to only grind enough for one dosage at a time?
What about inositol? I was recommended this by my Lacy who loves holistic treatments, she said she’s had a lot of success, even patients have been able to stop OCD meds. I have anxiety and depression
Dr Jones, what are your thoughts on cold pressed sunflower oils, from sunflowers that are grown organically and pressed at home? You mentioned olive and avocado being good oils. Just wanted more thoughts on the sunflower oils. Thank you. Enjoy all your videos...
Any oil that you get from squishing something is good for you. Any oil you get from a food scientist hanging out with a chemist is bad.

Thanks Doc! Valuable information!
RAW GARLIC is a natural analgesic
Thank you Sir. Much appreciation.
How do I use maringa to aid in maintaining my health,
How does our does cooking affect these herbs? Can they be added to dishes while cooking and have the same effects?
I so want to get off my bp meds. I used to do a lot of herbs and golden tea but now on bp meds I can't take much in the way of herbs and supplements that won't interact with my meds. I'm totally into eating leafy greens, fruits, veggies. Inflammation I have a lot. Just re-injured my shoulder and it's sore.
How much yucca powder would you take a day and how long for ....longterm ?
Hey Doc, do you have a big garden where you grow all the herbs you sell, or do you source some it all of them elsewhere? If you do have a garden, I’d love a video tour! If that video already exists disregard this request! Thanks for all that you do!
Potatoes especially with skins are very very healthy. Add real butter for some healthy fat.
@@retribution999 I moved to Idaho and married an Idaho farm girl in the hopes of getting more potatoes in my life and I agree that a potato with the skin and butter is vastly healthier and tastier than many of the fake foods foisted on us in this modern world. That said, simple carbohydrates are simple carbohydrates. They stimulate insulin spikes. Insulin stimulates inflammation. Also, plants in that family (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers) contain solanine and other alkaloids that can significantly increase inflammation in some folks. Especially if they have arthritis.
Thanks Doc 🤗❤️
Hi. Is there a natural means for treating carpal tunnel syndrome?
I've never heard you mention Wild lettuce for pain. Is it useful, overrated, or what's your thoughts on it. I hear a lot about it online so I'm wondering if it's worth checking out?
