Great video, just one addition I would suggest, in that if the purpose of raising the car is to change a wheel, loosen the wheel nuts slightly whilst car is still on ground. If they've been over tightened by a previous over zealous tire fitter, you'll appreciate the extra friction... LOL
Absolutely spot on point. Let the grounded weight of the car allow you to loosen the bolts enough so when you jack it up the jack isn’t likely to wiggle and possibly buckle under excessive force of trying to get the “bastard nuts” loosened.
I needed to see this earlier 😭 no wonder I couldn’t loosen the nuts whilst the car was lifted. That couldn’t have been good for my alignment 😅😭😭 but I know now! This was too helpful. Thank you so much!
I wish I had seen this a couple days ago after one of my tyres blew. I have the same sort of jack but instead of using the hook and the socket tools in conjunction, I was raising the jack by only using the rod through the jack hole and turning. It was effective but took 5x longer than it should have if I knew better. Thanks for the video, very educational
thank you for this video my friend. as someone whos first in family with a car, i had troubles understanding the hook handle and how to work with it. many thanks :)
@@CarSpyTV or do what I do what a majorly rotted shell that has nothing left to jack to and you want the car high enough, use a chain and a engine crane around the chassis to pick the car up (not for beginners)
GreAt video. I was going to make a few videos about jacking up my car (as you know, every car is different). I would be very interested in seeing where you can put a trolley jack at the front and back. I can use my rear diff and a certain area on my lower engine protector. My car never came with a jack or even a spare wheel. My older BMW’s had a very cool jack, where it slides into a hole, in the side of the sills. Feel so much safer than the Renault logo jack :p
@@CarSpyTV hahaha 🤪 I think you got me confused with the man in your mirror :D My father used to be able to lift the rear of them old Mercedes vans. I guess I could create a funny (but true) story out of it. Haha

Really helpful video, I don't suppose you would be up for making one on where Jack stands can go on the nissan/the jacking point at the front/back? As always great content thanks again!
I'm here because i'm explaining to my young son what a scissor jack does and what it's for as i've just come back from my evening walk where i saw a man working underneath a Transit Van jacked up with just a scissor jack. And the jack was at it's full extremity with no axle stands, no trolley jack, NOTHING. An hour later and i'm still wincing! How can a grown adult be so bloody stupid is beyond me.
Hello. Rather than give a generic answer, I suggest you check the owner's manual (or factory service manual) for your particular car. Best wishes from CarSpyTV.
the main thing with these jacks people .is the ground has to be spirit level level . anything else these will never work . i returned after buying one as it kept tilting over before even being close to getting car off the ground and the driveway looked level
I suggest you test the jack without the weight of a car on it. You'll then know whether it's broken, stuck, or you need bigger muscles. Best wishes from CarSpyTV.
CarSpyTV is based in the UK. Our typically moist winter weather helps the moss grow. However, it's so hot today that the road's melting! Good luck with your plants.
Thanks for the message, Mashed. However, I’ve checked the owner’s manual for that particular jack and car - and it’s definitely positioned correctly. Best wishes.
I've used jacks before but never one like this. Thanks a million.
