Israeli diver finds 900-year-old crusader sword in ‘perfect condition’ off Mediterranean coast

The Israel Antiquities Authority has exhibited a 900-year-old sword believed to have belonged to a crusader. The artefact, which went on public display on October 19, 2021, was said to be in perfect condition. Diver Shlomi Katzin came across the iron sword, now encrusted in marine organisms, after it was left exposed by shifting sand on the sea floor.

@@lordzeno7713 normal crusader damage is 15, so it would be 150 damage when restored, which is double lego sword damage, puts it on the level of a diamond sword with endurance and sharpness, pretty busted

It was found very recently. They have to do a lot of analizing before they can start restoring it. Not an easy job

I mean, restoring it is going to take a while. Through all that shell and muk theyll find something particularly special. It does have quite the silhouette, especially the ball pummel
i'm worried the shell only preserved the shape and not the metal which by now must be rust . they might not find a sword inside . dang it we need the cleaning video to see what's inside

This sword is a magnificent find and you can see how well its kept its shape, even after so many centuries. Thank you to the barnacles and other sea life who've helped preserve this artefact.

That's millions dollar sword right there.
It's not even worth $10,000. You need a well documented and verifiable proof of provenance for a sword to be worth a million bucks. All they have right now is an old barnacle encrusted iron sword they assume belonged to crusader knight. Nothing has ever been proven yet. If this old sword belonged to a foot soldier. Then it's not even worth much.

As a kid, I was fascinated about the idea of the myriad of things in the Mediterranean Sea , so much history in that region , the first scuba divers must have been like space explorers . Who k ows how many treasures have been found & not declared ?
