I had a MkII XR2 in 1992 with twin 40's, Kent cam, gas flowed head, Janspeed manifold + exhaust that made 136bhp and a low ratio gearbox which could just about see off a std Uno Turbo but as soon as they were chipped they absolutely destroyed me until I got my 227bhp RS Turbo that I got featured in Max Power,
Nice show! I had a trip to the island recently and saw the yellow and black saxo it looks proper max power. You should feature it. Would of loved to have come and seen you personally and collected some fyd merch first hand but time would not allow! Some really cool cars on the island!

Mate I totally agree I’ve let cars that now sell for tens of thousands go for what was normal back in the 90’s . £1400 for a 1.9 205, £1500 for a Fiesta RS Turbo, £600 for a 309 GTI, 2K for an MR2 GTS Turbo import,£3k for a WRX import… the list goes on and on . The worst though was many years back a bloke I knew swapped a Sapphire Cosworth for a ……………Frontera Sport!! Absolutley sickening!
Jesus a forgotten treasure the Uno Turbo , I had a Uno Formula in that dull blue colour , had a Tipo as well but endless issues I had a 1992 starlet turbo standard one and wonder with being a 1.3 turbo like the fiat uno if they were similar in performance? You could put the old twin choke Webber carburettor on the older cars , boy you could feel the difference (and so did the fuel tank ) 😂😂 nice video loved the red XR2 ford classics will always look good no matter what generation
The Uno was light. I remember my friends being very very quick after some light tuning and that’s in comparison to other friends who had a super rare Citroen Visa GTI ( 205 1.6 engine as standard), a Fuego Turbo and my 5 GT Turbo Phase 1. Standard the Uno was still capable and a direct rival for a GT Turbo and would see an XR2 off comfortably.
@@Buck3366 just had a look at the visa gt, look a right bucket of fun them, my mate had a 1990 R5 gt turbo when 4 star leaded petrol was in lol, it was very quick indeed , great to drive but he lowered it and the handling seem to decline , just didn’t seem as good as standard it was the 1.4 turbo

I still have my second car; a 205GTi I’ve owned for 26 years. That Uno Turbo is amazing.

Is it really ‘insane’ though?? They were only worth £600 20 years ago when it was bought. An 8yr old Fiat back then was considered junk.
