Strategic thinking is high. Work rate is high. But decision-making and game-day organisation is very far below the minimum standard required.
Good observations here. I would say in addition, McD's biggest weakness is lack of in-game and in-season adaptability. He and Grier put themselves and the team in a horrible position this year by going into the season with Jones and Eichenberg as our starting guards!! I mean WTF?? And they made no move to fix this after these two failed us each and every game, win or lose! So not only is McD heavily culpable for putting himself into a position where he needed to radically change the offense to compensate for these two turnstiles but then he failed to even try a new scheme. Every game it's the same old useless zone block running game with personnel who can't handle that, then dink and dunk forward passing to pass catchers behind the LOS who then have to break several tackles just to get to the LOS and then try to do something from there! It's worked against the Patriots and the Browns and barely against the Jets and Jacksonville (both of which would have been losses for us had those two been slightly more competent teams). Against anybody pretty good though, forget it! It doesn't happen! I actually prefer Grier keeping his job more than I do for McD keeping his.
