    W. Ray Johnston established two film production and distribution companies during the mid 1920s in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. They were Rayart Pictures (1924-33) and Sono Art-World Wide Pictures (1927-33). They released several films during the brief era of Pre-Code Hollywood (the second logo in the video is an example from the era). The companies merged in 1933 when they were acquired by Monogram Pictures, established in 1931 by W. Ray Johnston and Trem Carr. This film studio was also based in Hollywood, and their legacy are the hundreds of low-budget films they produced from 1931 to 53; this is the reason why Monogram is known as one of the "Big Four" film companies of Poverty Row, a slang term used to refer to Hollywood films produced from the 1920s to the 50s. This led to the creation of Allied Artists Productions in 1946, when a film producer at Monogram, Walter Mirisch, informed studio head Steve Broidy the "days of low-budget films were ending". The Allied Artists name was meant to mirror the name of United Artists as an inspiration of "creative personnel uniting to produce and distribute quality films". In September 1952, Monogram announced it would produce films under the Allied Artists name, which led to the closure of Monogram in the following year. Allied Artists continued making films until 1966, when they became a distributor of foreign films. They returned to producing films from 1972, beginning with Cabaret, but this was a brief period as the company faced Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 1979. Allied Artists International was founded in 1979 as a successor-in-interest to Allied Artists Pictures, and they produce and distribute motion pictures, motion pictures, recorded music, and more. There is my description on Allied Artists, what a lot of history! Sources listed on the references page of the Wikipedia articles of said companies.
