To answer Mike's comment at the end: Aleah's husband is Juha Raivio, founder guitarist of legendary melodic doom metal band "Swallow the Sun". After Aleah's tragic passing, he went into a very depressed state and put down on paper all the darkness he was going through. After a few months, he slightly edited this stuff (trying to keep the emotion as raw as possible) and founded the band "Hallatar" to realease a single album: No Stars upon the Bridge. As a fan, I feel like this album is better enjoyed from start to finish in a private setting to fully enjoy the emotion and I highly recommend it to you guys but if you want to make a reaction vid (which I would also enjoy!), "My Mistake" has an official video and is featuring the lovely Heike from (now ex-)Draconian.
So glad you now know Aleah. She passed before I ever knew her, but thanks to her friends I can take joy in her songs and mourn her passing. "Sinking Ships" is a lovely song which benefits from a motion video. Hallatar is the tribute band, and I'm off to try "Dreams Burn Down" since Jay suggested it.
You guys listened to the demo version, should have done the studio version, it’s much muchhhh better! But that’s ok… plz do Hour of the Nightingale! Beautiful song by them!
Aleah was fighting cancer during the recording of the album and died before it was finished, the record was released one year after on the day she died
🍻 Basil. What it comes to Gothic Doom metal, their one & only studio album "Hour of the Nightingale" is a masterpiece, released posthumously after the vocalist Aleah Stanbridge died of cancer in 2016. The lyrics written by her are truly touching as she already knew her fate when writing them.
Aleah Stanbridge was as beautiful as her voice. The attached link is to a fan tribute of her singing Touch my Face by That Which Remains which I believe was her first band. th-cam.com/video/3DkgMGgjyuI/w-d-xo.html
Thank you! As far as I know, several songs Aleah has written knowing about the inevitable coming too soon: th-cam.com/video/2rxWdE8vz4o/w-d-xo.html Not a request, just a recommendation. Good luck! P.S. RIP, beautiful soul...
I did the "misstake" of reading their Wikipedia page, and their story, before ever hearing any music by them. The music hit HARD! And still does.

Yes, "My Mistake" is my favourite track from that album, and the video, with Aleah's necklace and horse is so moving.

That was hauntingly good. Makes you realise how lucky people are to make it into later life, sometimes relatively unscathed???? ❤️🤘🎸🇦🇺
Aleah was phenomenal singer super expressive, she did amazing songs even as a solo w/o trees of eternity.
