Mods: Force break [a.co/d/ipGkLe9], PCB Millmaxed by CKC (www.customkeys...)
Thoughts: First off, thank you to everyone who made this possible. Thank you, Cadlab CNC, for saving this Haus for how it previously was. We actually figured out together it needed new hardware (2mm longer for every screw) because the previous owner went a little too hard on the screws (what a shame), and honestly, the condition of it showed it needed to be saved. I'm glad we got to bring this Haus back to life! In addition, thank you to Powotato [ / service_powotatos_free... ] for saving one and mill-maxing of the PCBs and CKC for mill-maxing the new PCB I got for it! Thank you, Mechlovin, for being so helpful in sourcing a Haus PCB! You do not often find old boards that still have their OEM PCBs supported and sold. Lastly, thanks to Tom from Hypekeyboards for the incredible PP and POM plates he cut for this board. I couldn't find the source file, but he had it on hand and cut it quickly! Also, thank you to KNC Keys for always shipping TX stabilizers so fast to me! I wanted to try Swagkeys someday, but many of my boards have an O-ring mount, so screw-in stabilizers don't work right now.
As for the board itself... it's a TGR 910 in a different design language. It even has that classic Jane spacebar I haven't heard of since my 910 ME I owned a long time ago. In fact, it sounds closer to the Ayleen TKL, which someone noted was a classic "Jane spacebar." I find this top-mount configuration endearing because it's simply the succession to the PC plate + MX Browns + Top-mount that we're all used to. Most people have moved to doing it except with a PP plate. In fact, I'd wager Nylon would be even better on this board and might help with the depth of this "Jane" spacebar. For some reason, returning some bass from the spacebar feels nice. I will note that I felt the need to force-break the board, and the spacebar sound is uneven (the nature of how the mounting points were designed, unfortunately). For example, on the right side, you'll hear the classic high-pitched pop you expect from Cherry on PP, but on the left, you'll listen to the "Jane" bassy spacebar. Overall, I love how the board turned out, and the Cadlab black matches GMK black insanely well. Thank you to everyone, and I hope people can appreciate seeing an old dog like the Haus do some new tricks (using a PP plate & Cherry MX2A). Take care until the next video! I know this keyboard doesn't have the poppy, high-pitched clack we've all grown accustomed to with long pole switches, Kohaku keyboards, and o-ring keyboards, but that's what top-mount does. I might test it with the O-ring just for fun.
Sidenote, but MX2A Browns are just so GOATed. That's my experience thus far when CKC does them. If you're too lazy to clean off the housing, just let CKC service it, and you'll be amazed. However, there are stories of MX2A switches cracking GMK keycaps, so please beware of putting GMK keycaps on, and pay attention if there's resistance when trying to put it on! It probably needs the stem trimmed. I've not encountered it, but I thought I'd share the word.

I've been in too deep. 😭 It does feel nice to acquire this board at a reasonable price when they used to go for way too much.

Thank you! Yeah, the design language reminded people of Squid Game at the time (even though that wasn't the intention, IIRC). Now we have the Geim65, which directly takes inspiration from Squid Games. There are layers to this, apparently, haha.

Thanks, man! I did not expect the Haus to get so much love because it's so old. I'm glad we can all appreciate the classics, haha.

I'm really starting to get the appeal of it after typing on it for a day. I will keep using it to see how it stacks up to my other 65%, but I'm enjoying the top-mount feel after using gaskets for so long.
