Paul (not McCartney) may have been exaggerating when he said that the root of all evil is the love of money, but it’s certainly the root of most evil, and what is the love of money but a form of insanity, a particularly malignant form of insanity, because other people suffer from it much more than the insane person. Just look about, and you’ll discover that most of your acquaintances manifest at least a mild form of this insanity. They’re inculcated with it.
Spirituality does not protect you from danger or illness. It changes your relationship to the world and toward people. It makes you peaceful, it opens the heart and makes you behave more loving. It makes you feel good within yourself no matter your circumstances. It gives you a lot of power....but you choose not to wield this power OVER people. It gives you insight and understanding and intelligence. George, with all his wealth and fame, discovered what is truly valuable in this short life.
one of the most upbringing clips ive seen in long. George was clearly a very wise man with a great view on life & existence as we know it. He is one of those people who just seem to broaden horizons and enlighten you on why life is worth living. And on top of that he was an amazing musican and song writers! truly one of a kind
Lawrance Ovarabia Are you without Sin? I try to look at people and appreciate the good I see. No one knows what George was going thru inside. I leave judging to God and worry about my own back yard, so to speak.
Everyone in this world is on a journey. Not all of us takes the same path. But one thing for sure, we all learn from our mistakes. Some mistakes are more powerful and ultimate then other lessons. George learned he was dieing because of his choice to smoke, etc.. And then he passed on from it. I am not celebrity worshipping. You couldn't be more wrong when it comes to me. I enjoy all kinds of good in many kinds of people, and life in general. My parents taught me to look for the good in others, and look for the good in each and every day. For someone who doesn't know me, you are sure full of judging others. I suggest you keep your nose in your own back yard and judge yourself. What have you learned lately concerning yourself? That is what you should be focusing on. Peace.
One thing will never pass: the beautiful soul of Geoge Harrison. Thank you George for being here in Earth! You let this planet better. I wish I knew you!! Perhaps, one day in another dimension, we may join all together. Me, you , and the Beatles...Love from Brazil
George was to me the most enlightened of the bunch. he really knew his philosophy and he has made me understand myself as in the "ego" much better so i can understand Buddhism better. thanks george, namaste!
George Harrison practiced his Spiritual Path; gave to Bangladesh; made great music alone and with others..his greatness is undisputed. I am sure he Meditated. And looked for positive paths to Peace and Love. Great compassionate human being.
Thank you Blankfrack. The most important thing is that Beatles (john, paul, george e ringo) revoluted the world. And their work will stay forever. Thats all.
George Harrison was a good man and deeply spiritual man who should not be maligned by people who haven't a clue about him or what he went through in his life. No one is perfect but when someone tries and is a good and decent human being overall, and is seeking and trying to give peace and happiness to others, in his own way, he should not be insulted after he is dead.
I grew up next door to George Harrison and my parents were good friends with his parents. I am considering authoring a book about him when I finish with my shift as a nurse.
George was so wise. He found true inner peace an happiness, he didn't need the rest of the world to tell him what to do or believe, he searched deep and found the true meaning of spirituality and religion wasn't one set thing
George was in a position of tremendous influence over a lot of people. He took that position and influence and used it to help people to awaken to their true nature. It is not religion. It is about the soul and it is at the core of ALL religions. When he talks of ONE GOD he doesn't mean that there is only one discrete GOD. It means that we are all ONE and in that ONENESS we realise that our true nature IS God. I thank GOD for people like George Harrison.
Try to realize it's all within yourself No one else can make you change And to see you're really only very small, And life flows on within you and without you.
A brilliant composer and guitarist, and one who not only was the the architect of the Beatles guitar sound, but also of its multicultural influences: Our Sweet George...the one thing that shall not pass.
I grew up next door to George Harrison and my parents were good friends with his parents. I am considering authoring a book about him when I get back from my summer home vacation on my yacht with my supermodel wife.
I remember the first smell of incense in the suburbs of melbourne and his music felt like light for a kid of 9 in 1969, years later I helped drag Swami Praphupada in his huge chariot through the streets, all due to the guide along way from liverpool!what a cool brother george IS !
I sincerely believe that God continually manifests Love in the form of others who Know the Truth of why were are here and try to help the rest of us understand. In the Catholic context, this is Purgatory and gurus (teachers) like George try to help us understand that the purpose of this life is to evolve from being instinctual animal beings into instinctual spiritual beings. George dedicates two songs on 33 1/3 to Paramahansa Yogananda who was his Guru (and mine). Check His Autobiography
@bjkatt7: I would like to believe that George Harrison was a wonderful person; his widow, his son, and the musicians with whom played all seem to think so. He certainly left an incredible cultural and musical legacy, and he is very well remembered and loved, as the great number of sites dedicated to him here on Y/T alone attest.
FrlghtWolf - One who doesn't believe in spirituality requires a reading and experiences related to it with the passion of being at the level. The one will be definitely there.
@cymrank I have experienced GOD as a very intimate personality and as all encompassing energy. I have experienced GOD as intelligence, as love and Wisdom. I have experienced GOD as if HE was an angelic being in the room with me. I have experienced GOD as if IT was an intimate core of my own SOUL. In short, I have encountered GOD in numerous different ways or 'forms'. All very different. All GOD.
It's often commented that George was ahead of his time. He wasn't. It's just that modern civilization has fallen so behind the times. George was tapped into a yogic/Hindu wisdom base of awareness that spans back at least a few thousand years. We -- modern Western Civilizaion (which has now infected the East) -- have become existentially tone deaf to this ancient wisdom, which strikes the modern ear as channeling superstition, ignorance, etc.
@FrlghtWolf Unconditional Love is not something the ego can do! So, I agree with you. Most of what we refer to as unconditional love is something else entirely. Real spirituality is a tough path and it takes guts to walk it. People usually only embark on it when the well of pleasure runs dry or after facing crisis. You are being honest with yourself when you question whether your love for your daughter is merely instinct. Maybe that's the start of a spiritual path!
@FrlghtWolf it is true most people ignored George and Ringo, but these days not as much. "Here Comes the Sun" is the #1 selling Beatles song on iTunes as evidence. Paul was the media lover. Paul told the world about the Beatles breakup and Paul dissed John starting humerous John and Paul arguments through the media, especially newspapers for years. George didn't talk about it, he just went to live a private life and sometimes play for Ringo and John. George was the "quiet" Beatle historically
@CubanTseGuevara "Inner Peace" means George didn;t care what the rest of the world thought of him or said to do. He lived life the way he beleived was right, trying different faiths and cultural experiences to keep an open mind and decide religion for himself, not based on others' opinions. He also spent time caring for his family and praising his "God" through music as u praise yours your own ways. He never tried to convert anyone. He didn't make a fuss, he died quietly, no media, no complaints
@FrlghtWolf - I'm not 'heaping blind praise on a celebrity'. I observed George's career from the start and the way he dealt with it and my opinion is a considered one. I also met him once and he could easily have been rude and off-hand with me but he was neither. In fact he was very gentlemanly and kind. Some people are lucky in life and manage to make a lot of money. He was one of them. But he was also generous to charities & individuals. I knew a poet for whom he bought an apt. in London.
I love the two references songs which hold the truth.. George has great spiritually incite. I also look at it this way, with a bit of another George...that being Carlin. No matter what we do, the planet will be just fine. If we want to be stupid enough to pollute the air, befoul the water, which in the end kills us off, planet Earth couldn't care less. It has been around for 4.5 billion years, and it will be around for tens of billions more simply going around the sun. And when this pesky species called Humans is no longer here, it will cleanse itself, and heal itself. It has tens of billions of years, until either the sun dies out or when Andromeda crashes into the Milky Way.

Those of you who hop on here to criticize are dead wrong, a bit of real research would prove that. It won't hurt a bit though, ranting and raving with this misinformation. George is back with his creator.
You're right but I think that spirituality also protects from danger and illness, but at the certain level same as the levels of games. And to be at the certain level, we need to play the game/spirituality. Experience of spirituality teaches more of about itself. People think that spirituality is wrong but it is as much as true as we see trees, sea and all other natural things around us.
@FrlghtWolf George smoked. A spiritual, loving, open-hearted person who does what they can to bring support to other people isn't necessarily a 'perfect' person. George still had a lot to learn. Hare Krishna, his music and spirit still inspires us all to chant Hare Krsna and to listen to beautiful music.

Ah yeah george is my lovely grandson, you must be Kevin?
Whether one agrees with some of his views, he was easily as honest as he could be and for that he should have all of our respect and admiration.
All Things Must Past, your spirit lives on George, but we miss your presence.
No matter what religion you are, you gotta admit that George's heart was in the right place.
Bless you George. I agree.

I agree with George
@Yossarian46. Nice one. On point. The best you've posted so far, imho.
He may be a bit more religious than most of us... but what he's saying isn't whacked at all. It makes perfect sense.

True enough, it does fill a void (so to speak) but it's not a cure-all. Nothing is, when you're dealing with the human equation.
