Not to beat the same drum, but I watched Le Pacte de Loups in the theater when it came out. It was so amazing, I ended buying it, only to find that the American distribution company changed the subtitles. To get the original version, one must find the Director's cut, which isn't easy. I own both, and know for a fact when they arrive in France, and Mark Dacascos's character Mani is ushered into the room with his blood brother, a Native American ritual they performed as told by the protagonist Grégoire, portrayed by Samuel Le Bihan's, the American version subtly removes the idea that the nobles intended to put Mani in "Slave" quarters. Unable to rectify the historical mistreatment of indigenous populations, it seemed pertinent for Studio Canal to alter the subtitles to override the original theatrical release's direct call out of the reality of the times. The shift was so offensive, as it not only portrayed the assumed relationship between these characters as just of a reasonable misunderstanding of differing economic castes, but overtly tried to bury the overt racism displayed towards Mani's ethnicity. He was treated as beneath them, and the alterations to the subtitles make it seem like simple mistake, not the racist nature of the times. Always make sure you are getting a good subtitle translation and not some political hackery to appease the distributer's fragile sensibilities.

Solid list, as per usual. I think Pandorum was hugely underrated and Lord of War is probably my favorite Cage movie, where he's not the full Cage, as I'm not a fan of his Shatneresque over-the-top acting style (which many people love, which is fine, just not my cup of tea).
Winter's Bone is so vastly underrated. J-Law is spectacular and the story unfolds perfectly. 17/10, everyone ahould see it immediately if they haven't.

Match Point is the film that demonstrated that Scarlett Johansson isn’t just another pretty face, but she’s got serious acting chops. Nice plot twists, great little watch.
Completely wrong. She received world wide acclaim and won a bafta for lost in translation 2 years before match point. As well as golden globe nominations for ‘the girl with the Pearl earring’ and ‘A love song for Bobby long’ which both came before match point. She was a serious actress from the start who just happened to be pretty not to mention Matchpoint is probably one of her least known movies.

Brotherhood of the wolf is great. I feel like that kind of movie is kind of hard to find. Id be down for list of werewolf and vampire movies minus interview lol.
We actually watch Prime video every day. Got Amazon Prime for shipping over 10 years ago. Video streaming at that time was just an after thought. Since then it's one of three streaming services we watch. Still like to watch your suggestions.
Brotherhood of the Wolf is based on a "true" story about The Beast of Gevaudan. I put true in quotes because there was a series of killings in Gevaudan,France, by a giant wolf/cryptid back around the time that's in the movie.
I ordered a Never Say Die t-shirt from the merch shop! I can’t wait for it! Unfortunately, I moved recently and it’s getting sent to my old house…😢 How do I change the shipping address? I can’t find contact information on the website
I watch your videos but always disappointed that many of your suggestions that I want to watch are not on Prime in Canada or on one of the many subchannels that you have to pay more for. There were 4 movies in particular that I thought I'd watch based on your recommendations but only one (Winter's Bone) is on my regular Prime subscription. Thank you for giving us the list in other countries as well in your pinned comment. Now to see if my VPN allows me to access my Prime in the USA.
I don't feel like it sucks because I'm a natural rooter-arounder, but you do definitely have to dig. So I'm thrilled to have the recommendations - and thank you for taking the time to put this together for us!
I saw the remake of Bad Lieutenant with Nick Cage, and I really enjoyed it. I never knew that it was a remake, or that there was ANOTHER one at all!. Harvey Keitel is always hard to watch, IMO, his characters are more often than not people you can't care about, doing things that gross you out and/or belong in X rated films. Thanks again for this great video!!
The sequel to the Nic Cage one, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans is worth watching to see Nicolas Cage chew up the scenery. The movie would be mediocre except Nic Cage has a lot of fun with his role.
It took me a while of watching your recommendations before I wised up enough to watch these on my tablet while I have my TV on , then the ones that sound interesting I watched the trailer on TV and decide whether I want to add it to my watch list right then and there instead of having to remember it later. :-) Thanks for doing this. I want to disagree with your remark about there being no such thing as a cooler. Since the entire universe is made up of energy I do believe that there are some people that have such negative energy that they can affect what's going on around them.
I don't know why but every time the original Bad Lieutenant is shown they always cut out the end of the scene when he is talking too the two girls who took their fathers car. As sick as it is, those are scenes you don't forget in movies., Also Here's one they missed in the Godfather. When Sonny is kicking Carlos's ass in the street watch close just before he picks up the barrel. They used the wrong camera angle and you can see Sonny COMPLETELY miss punching Carlo in the face with a right hand and Carlo moves his head like he got hit. Glad I got that off my chest. Great channel Darren.
oh nice another youtuber i watch rec onyx and now you as well. guess i do gotta check it out and the movie Stay blew me away when i watched a few years ago. Almost didnt becuase of the mixed reviews but a couple others rec it as well and im glad i did.
I watched Onyx the Fortuitous recently and loved it!! Might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I found it hilarious and over the top which fit me perfectly lol 😂 Made me look him up after watching it and I also follow him on TH-cam and watch his videos. Also finding out the origin of how his character and voice started out by the news clip interview that went viral was awesome
This did have potential but the ending was flat. It was inspired by Fred Phelps who was the pastor for the Westboro Baptist Church. Interesting thing, he was a Democrat and donated to Bill Clinton.
@@A_A_ron-Phillips most folks believe things wout seeing the evidence yeah, but most of the stuff they believe has evidence. it's the difference in believing the world is round versus the earth is flat. most folks have not been to space, but they trust the folks who have. so technically you got a point, but otoh, there is a distinction in what the poster meant.
Traitor is great! 8.5/10. Match Points very good, solid 7. Pool hall junkies very entertaining! Ben Foster is incredible in everything so Pandorum is worth it for sure! Winter's Bone is incredible, a 9 of 10 acting and slow burn. Must see. Bank Job very entertaining, popcorn movie.
So I went on PV to check out a couple of your suggestions and found something even better. They just added a couple of Jim Belushi classics...Taking Care Of Business and Mr Destiny. Both are awesome movies IMHO .
LOVE Woody Allen movies - Match Point was great and I'll add Cassandras Dream falls into a similar genre which is also good but not as good as match point
Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans I would NOT consider a remake at all of the original. Hence the title …it has a corrupt insane cop as the anti-hero but other than that it’s very different. I am a big fan of it…it’s a cult flick must watch.
The Pledge! I saw that when it was first released and totally forgot about it since remembered actually really liking it upon seeing it on this list. Definitely one of Jack Nicholson's best late roles. I don't even recall the pacing having been an issue!
Very cool list! Appreciate all your time and effort! Btw - anyone know the Thumbnail source? Pandorum perhaps? Thx! A Scout's Guide to a Zombie Apocalypse is brilliant horror/comedy fun! Would pair it with Zombieland like you mentioned and ...for a tripple shot add Zombeavers and youll have one hell of a fun time 😳🤔😸🤘
Hertzog's film is not a remake. The American distributers put Bad Lieutenant in the title because they owned the rights to it and they thought it would make more money that way.
I saw brotherhood of the wolf many years ago when it came out, we had to read the subtitles in the theater. I have watched it since several times and it’s really good.

Brotherhood of the wolf is great. I feel like that kind of movie is kind of hard to find. Id be down for list of werewolf and vampire movies minus interview lol.
it has a plot twist even i didn't see coming.
and being french, it's very stylized visually,
Small Town Crime is so damn good. We have a lot of the same favorite actors. Good stuff.
Great list!
THANKS
Great FLICK CONNECTION Darren. The Bank Job, Kill The Irishman and Lord of War are outstanding. Many thanks for sharing with us, much appreciated 👍👍👍
We actually watch Prime video every day. Got Amazon Prime for shipping over 10 years ago. Video streaming at that time was just an after thought.
Since then it's one of three streaming services we watch.
Still like to watch your suggestions.
Onyx is my second favorite horror comedy. Soild pick.
Thanks sir. Nice collection
Thank u for your list, def some on here to watch thank u
All right gotta watch brotherhood of the wolf again. Thx.
Hahaha, I had to laugh knowing the stuff you would not dare repeat for the original Bad Lt. 🤣
Pretty decent list.
I remember seeing The Pledge as a first run. It was extremely good.
Prime video does suck. Shitty search function in their apps and incessant commercials unless you want to fork over more $$ to AMZN. Efff that noise.
Brotherhood of the Wolf is based on a "true" story about The Beast of Gevaudan. I put true in quotes because there was a series of killings in Gevaudan,France, by a giant wolf/cryptid back around the time that's in the movie.
Great picks 👍
Well, I think the most attempts on one guys life in a movie has to be John Wick.
Traitor was good! Almost had a Bourne feel to me.
I love Poolhall Junkies. I own that one!
I’m so glad other people think event horizon is a great movie and I’m no fan of horrors
Thank you for recommending The Raven❤
Michael Parks is incredible in Red State
The original Bad Leiutenant with Harvey Kaitel is a different movie to the Cage mash-up !
The Pledge is worth watching just for Mickey Rourkes cameo.
Great idea!!
I don't know why but every time the original Bad Lieutenant is shown they always cut out the end of the scene when he is talking too the two girls who took their
fathers car. As sick as it is, those are scenes you don't forget in movies., Also Here's one they missed in the Godfather. When Sonny is kicking Carlos's ass in the street watch close just before he picks up the barrel. They used the wrong camera angle and you can see Sonny COMPLETELY miss punching Carlo in the face
with a right hand and Carlo moves his head like he got hit. Glad I got that off my chest. Great channel Darren.
Poolhall Junkies is soo good. I found it in my teens and rewatched it for years
oh nice another youtuber i watch rec onyx and now you as well. guess i do gotta check it out and the movie Stay blew me away when i watched a few years ago. Almost didnt becuase of the mixed reviews but a couple others rec it as well and im glad i did.
When somebody sat down and explained the struggles of WW 2 to Clooney it must have blown his mind...
"We must make movies of these stories!!"
3:03 is that a young ,young bull Shane Gillis? 🤣
Scouts Guide needs a sequel
YEP.
I watched Onyx the Fortuitous recently and loved it!! Might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I found it hilarious and over the top which fit me perfectly lol 😂
Made me look him up after watching it and I also follow him on TH-cam and watch his videos. Also finding out the origin of how his character and voice started out by the news clip interview that went viral was awesome
1:48 oh that sounds great! Get to be lectured by Kevin fucking smith for 2 hours
Don’t ever lose your magic hat, Frosty the Snowflake.
This did have potential but the ending was flat. It was inspired by Fred Phelps who was the pastor for the Westboro Baptist Church. Interesting thing, he was a Democrat and donated to Bill Clinton.
It's s great movie. A reminder that belief without evidence is intellectually dishonest and a slippery slope.
@@playedout148- “belief without evidence” 🙄 I’m pretty sure you believe quite a few things without any evidence. Almost everyone does.
Jennifer Lawrence was spectacular in Winters Bone
Still her best movie imo.
I have watched 8-1/2 (only saw half of Winters Bone) out of 20.
If you saw the end of The Pledge you know why the better help ad went there
Very cool list!
I love "The Cooler!"
