This video really hit home for me, I’ve lost 70% of mobility on my right arm in the span of 5 months after a climbing injury and I will have an heavy intervention in two weeks to fix all of that and after that i’ll have 3 to 6 months without using my arm.
Since my injury I’ve left the hobby behind (only one mini painted in 6 months versus 150-200 last year at the same date) because I was afraid to use my left hand to do some painting. I’ll give it a shot and try some of your tricks with my Leviathan !

Dude. I'm almost ambidextrous due to broken bones and other various injuries over the years, and I can safely say there is no way I could pull off a paint job like that with my left hand. Mad props.

While I truly appreciate the artistry that you and others display, for me this hobby is about playing the games not the painting. I love all of your tips and try to use them the best I can. I will never paint a competition level model. It is just not my thing. I just want a decent paint job and get them on the table. I will be using some of these tips and techniques to paint models faster for sure.
When I was a child I could pretty much use both hands about the same. I injured my elbow pitching in Little League. Had to get surgery and never really could use my left arm the same anymore. I kind of became right-handed after that. So, I do get what you are going through. I still find myself using my left hand every once and a while like when I was young and don't even realize I am doing it. Painting is one of those things. Sometimes a spot is easier to get to left handed, and I just grab the brush and paint lefty, without realizing it. This was a great video. It sucks that you got hurt, but this was one of your best videos.

Hmmm 'just' infection you say eh? A touch of Nurgle finger maybe? Don't let the inquisition find out ! I thought using you left hand might slow you down a tad so the rest of us might catch up a bit to your skills- nope, they still look awesome!! I'm sure if Michael Perry can learn to sculpt left handed, then painting shouldn't be too much trouble.

Very nice, always a good idea to try and keep your non-primary side keen wherever possible.
I had an issue with my right food that kept me from boxing normally for a while. so I switched to a left handed stance so i wouldn't skip practice and it made me a good switch hitter.

ok ok, I understand, this is your income and you live in the US and not human healthcare insurance like us in Europe. But please, your health is the most precious thing. Do not compromise it. I'm sure your Doctor told you, that especially hand infection are no joke, at all!

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues
      @eBayMiniatureRescues  ปีที่แล้ว +21

They definitely told me, and I don’t want to risk losing my finger over something stupid. So far it looks like it’s healing alright, so that’s good. But if at any moment it turns for the worst the doctor recommended a specialist, so that’s in the wings just in case. The worst part about it is that it honestly does come down to money for pretty much everyone in the US. Going to a specialist will immediately be thousands of dollars. It’s absolutely insane. So most people, myself included, try and do what we can at home to avoid going in at all. It’s not a good system…

made a lil tripod doohickie to steady my hand as i shake quite a bit.
Took a ball of greenstuff/epoxy putty and squished it in a grip using my pinky and ring finger. sanded it extra smooth to remove the sharp ridges and palm prints.
that lil epoxy bit i then placed on a mini folding tripod's screw before it dried and giving myself a small overhang to rest the pinky side of palm on so i don't need to death grip it.
this gives me adjustable height by adjusting leg angles, rotation due to the tripod head, and since im not gripping it with my full hand i still have full use of my thumb, pointer, and middle finger to handle a brush.
when getting a tripod on amazon, just make sure it's made out of metal rather than plastic as the joins will wear out and loosen on you otherwise and that it has locking leg angles.

I'm a retired artist who also happens to be ambidextrous. I had to switch careers in my 30's because of nerve issues in both arms that make it near impossible to perform the movements required for painting or writing without eithe extreme pain or sudden termors and jerking. It really sucks because if my nervous system wasnt essentially broken, I'd have no problem painting some sexy stuff with either hand, but its progressed to the point I cant even write my name without it looking like a toddler wrote it, let alone paint at model scale.
    Getting old sucks.

    • @eBayMiniatureRescues

Best advice is I can give is to set up notifications for the things you want. Do a search for the thing you want, filter it by condition, used, and then make sure to select the built/painted option. Put in a price range, probably pretty low if you want the good deals. Then save that search and turn on at least email notifications. You will get emailed a list of everything within those search results every day, so you end up seeing that stuff before almost anyone else does. Perfect time to get the best deals!

It's actually insane to me that America still has the health system it does. It helps absolutely no one and contributes to more problems than it solves. America the great indeed...
For now I will do what I can while heeding what the doc said, things are already getting better, so that's pretty nice, but I'm gonna keep up easy and left-handed painting as long as I need :)
