- Haven't been in the dugout in half a year. Due to the fact that I do not take care of it, the shelter began to fall into disrepair. In our region the first snowfalls and I decided to take advantage of this moment and spend time in the dugout instead of in the forest cabin. Perhaps this was my last visit, as I am thinking of dismantling it and chopping it for firewood (no definite decision yet). I finally tried woodcarving, I've been planning it for a long time but didn't dare. As for the first time...the result is not bad. I also tried cutting a bottle with a rope, but it didn't work out. I think because I chose a thick bottle. Anyway, enjoy watching it friends!

When the snow is on the ground, and the sun goes down….there is a period where everything is blue……I love that moment
And when snow melts or heavy rain you will see water fill up the dugout.

I know you have the beautiful new cabin now, but if the structure of the dugout is solid, would it be wise to keep a backup emergency shelter. Do some touch up repairs. I suggest practicing on soft wood like pine also a shorter blade for the fine work, and most of all always cut away from yourself just in case.
