    Really nice video. 20 years is awesome. More videos of killifish species that you keep. Thanks.

    Very nice to see this footage David, i also had this species back then(25 years ago), i had the golden and chocolate, but preferred the chocolate, i have one question, do they eat the Repashy Foods and is it possible to use the Repashy Spawn & Grow powder to raise the small fry of Killifish in general? Kil is an old Dutch word and means something like a water trench.

    Very useful info. 😊 thank you. But shouldn’t you add some fresh genes to your 20-year-old orange line? Just wondering 💭....

    I know you said the eggs could be left in water but do you think I’d be able to yield some fry if I leave a couple pairs in a 40g planted tank? Only have one tank...

      Have a very densely planted area for the eggs to not be seen and the fry to hide. That will get you a few hopefully.

    What other killies can these cohabitate with in a 125 gallon tank?

    Beautiful fish. I've never kept Killies but have been tempted for many years to do so. How do you make the green mops? Thanks !!

      To make spawning mops djramsey.com/tropfish/diymenu First choice is mops.

    Hi Master.Is it possible if the male is Australe and female is Gardneri.. Please Answer

    • @djrramsey
      @djrramsey  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That cross should not be possible. Two different genus.

    Do the eggs hatch better at a lower temp? I have just gotten some eggs and only one hatched so I put the eggs in a cool room over night and the next day 3 more hatched but that's it. There was a lot of small knat larvae in the peat so maybe they ate some eggs.

    • @djrramsey
      @djrramsey  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have always hatched the eggs at room temp, meaning 68F to 78F depending on the time of year.

    When do they breed I just got a pair today

    • @GrowAndEatThis
      @GrowAndEatThis 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They will breed when they are old enough, have the right food and conditions. Easily by the time they are 6 months old if well cared for.

  • @ujangrichard163
    @ujangrichard163 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    how many days to hatch?

    • @djrramsey
      @djrramsey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I water incubate, then depending on temp, 10 to 20 days. If I dry the eggs on peat or on the mop and they are fresh eggs, they can go 3 weeks most of the time. I start checking for eyes though around 14 days.

    Hey david ive got a pair in my tank the have been breeding 2 teams but i didnt saw some eggs. Is is possible that they are breeding without spawming eggs?

    • @GrowAndEatThis
      @GrowAndEatThis 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always do one pair to a tank. What often happens is while one pair is spawning, the others are trailing behind enjoying the fresh eggs. They love to eat other fish's eggs.

    Hi, Do you know at what age they usually reach sexual maturnity? Once I heard it's 6 months but I'm not sure
    Please answear. Thank you

    • @djrramsey
      @djrramsey  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Feed them good and keep up with the water changes and 6 months should be seeing eggs. They will not be finished growing, and the big flowing fins turn up late in life. But eggs yes.
