Is there a common fault on Astra j with the front brakes looking up shortly after fitting new disks and pads on inspection the pistons could not be compressed until the bleed nipple was opened on the second side we loosened the joint before the Flexi pipe to rule it out as well after pumping the pedal up and flushing some new fluid through it seems fine it's the second Astra j I've had it happen to now the only thing I can think might be happening is when the pistons are pushed back to fit the new brakes a valve in the ABS or master cylinder is getting stuck

You didn't mention Flexible brake hose failure. this can cause binding brakes too.
