A Dog of Flanders (Een Hond van Vlaanderen in the original language, any Dutchies or Belgians here?) is more famous in Japan than it is in the Netherlands and Belgium where it originated. I actually didn't know about it until I read a Suske en Wiske (I believe it's Spike and Suzy in English, but there are different translations so idk, it's the iconic comic series by Willy Vandersteen) about the story, and the fun part about that is that the Suske en Wiske featured a Japanese girl who was deadly ill and asked to see the story of A Dog of Flanders when it happened, so the professor sent the girl's robot pet with a built-in camera into the past to take pictures of the entire story. It's really cute and fun to see that little nod to Japan's love for the story in the more recent Belgian take on the story.
As you said about Jessie being based off the writer's ex-girlfriend, we can easily assume how she acted. Since Jessie is egotistical, pompous as all hell, and down right abusive to James and Meowth, it's likely that Takeshi's ex had all of these traits, but this raises a question in my head. Why ever give Jessie a happy ending? Now, it's not often that Team Rocket gets happy ends, but out of the three members of Team Rocket, it's Jessie that usually gets the most attention and happy ends in comparison to the other two. For example, in Princess vs Princess, even though Jessie ends up losing the tournament, James and Meowth cheer Jessie up by dressing as the dolls themselves, ending with one of the sweetest moments of the anime. Another example would be the episode Holy Matrimony, the one with James and Growlie. In this episode, at the end, Jessie and Meowth assume James ended up marrying Jessebelle, when in reality he was giving up Growlie to protect his parents, and sadly walk off in the sunset. It's only when James returns to them in the Meowth balloon reciting Jessie's part of their motto that they realize he's not leaving Team Rocket. The episode ends with Jessie climbing into the balloon and embracing James. Another sweet end for the criminal duo. So I ask again, why ever give Jessie a happy end if she broke Takeshi's heart? I personally believe that Takeshi, despite hating his ex enough to make her one of the main villains of the show he was writing for, didn't *truly* hate her. I believe, despite her egotism, her pompous attitude, and her abusive relationship with him, Takeshi hoped that his ex would find happiness in her life. Kinda bitter sweet, if you ask me and if I'm actually correct(probably not, but still). Anyways, great video as always! I didn't know any of these facts, and the hair colors messed with my brain for a minute.

Probably a bit well known by now but often forgotten. Maddie (Meowth's OG voice actress that passed away in 2007ish?), was transgender, and it was well known (Like her costars and stuff knew about it). I remember having a crush on Bashou (Hun) from Team Rocket only to find out was change to female and was upset. My friend thinks since Pokémon is a kid friendly anime, they decide to do that to avoid problems from parents on same sex team couples. It sounds like you're trying to convince your viewers that Hun should be viewed as female, even though the character's design, name (Bashō, after the famed (male) haiku poet) and voicing (by Toshiyuki Morikawa) are all originally male. I can't quite tell if this is because you might view the Americanised changes to be superior to the original, or if you find Hun's design threatening in some way. I see the gender change being due to the character design being too androgynous and having weird hair (both of which is typical of Anime). Did Western studios fear he'd stylistically corrupt children somehow, or that he might be seen as a gay character *gasp* as his work partner is buff? As a youngster it never crossed my mind that he was a woman. His mannerisms don't conform to typical female Anime norms and frankly, he's too flat chested! Actually, his feminine voice made me think even more that he was probably gay or gender fluid. His name being from 'Atilla the Hun' is far from feminine. Changing the voice acting to be female and having a few random female pronouns in some of the translations don't make that the right decision for the character. This is far from being the only example of Japanese characters who are either too androgynous or effeminate having their gender changed by the West. Look at Gracie and Saharah in Animal Crossing for example, or Birdo in Super Mario Brothers 2.

Probably a bit well known by now but often forgotten. Maddie (Meowth's OG voice actress that passed away in 2007ish?), was transgender, and it was well known (Like her costars and stuff knew about it). Also did the voice of many other 4kids characters (Like Solomon Mouto from Yu GI Oh). I just think its kinda cool that someone from the LGBT community had a huge impact/or exposure, however you wanna say it, in a lot of our growing up (Though if it was made public back then, there would probably be even more outrage (especially since Pokemon was considered evil in the 90s already...))

Another fact is that Annie and Oakley from the 5th movie are NOT Team Rocket members. Shows that 4Kids will believe anything on the internet because that's where the rumor came from
Evil tusks could be a reference that the main protagonist could be evil to team rocket. If you think of it team rocket think that they are doing the right thing and the protagonist are doing the wrong thing
I remember having a crush on Bashou (Hun) from Team Rocket only to find out was change to female and was upset. My friend thinks since Pokémon is a kid friendly anime, they decide to do that to avoid problems from parents on same sex team couples. Which is annoying for Annie and Oakley are same female team couple.... either way I still regrad Hun as my man. Besides I heard they butcher the English dubbing in the Legend of Thunder special.... XD,
It sounds like you're trying to convince your viewers that Hun should be viewed as female, even though the character's design, name (Bashō, after the famed (male) haiku poet) and voicing (by Toshiyuki Morikawa) are all originally male. I can't quite tell if this is because you might view the Americanised changes to be superior to the original, or if you find Hun's design threatening in some way.
I see the gender change being due to the character design being too androgynous and having weird hair (both of which is typical of Anime). Did Western studios fear he'd stylistically corrupt children somehow, or that he might be seen as a gay character *gasp* as his work partner is buff? As a youngster it never crossed my mind that he was a woman. His mannerisms don't conform to typical female Anime norms and frankly, he's too flat chested! Actually, his feminine voice made me think even more that he was probably gay or gender fluid. His name being from 'Atilla the Hun' is far from feminine. Changing the voice acting to be female and having a few random female pronouns in some of the translations don't make that the right decision for the character.
This is far from being the only example of Japanese characters who are either too androgynous or effeminate having their gender changed by the West. Look at Gracie and Saharah in Animal Crossing for example, or Birdo in Super Mario Brothers 2.
