The team at Santa Monica Studio poured their hearts and souls into God of War Ragnarök, and along the way, encountered some unforgettable mishaps. For the one-year anniversary, we wanted to share a few of the unexpected moments from development that remind us how complex, challenging, and unintentionally hilarious making a game can be.
A special thank you to the fantastic QA teams at Santa Monica Studio, PlayStation, and our partners around the world whose invaluable work helped keep these mishaps out of the experience we were able to share with fans one year ago!

I love that even when under insane crunch and pressure, animators will always find a way to make their characters dance for their own amusement
They need to keep their sanity somehow
its also needed to test the 3d recording equipment
You also do it to test the rig, if it can make a decent dance it pretty much can pose to any thing you need

The fact that the studio releases this really shows you how confident and carefree they are as developers. They know that their finished product is so polished, so they are totally comfortable revealing these mishaps. Love it

People severely underestimate how hard it is to produce a bug free game of this scale and complexity. Kudos to everyone working on this project to refine it to what it is!
And theyre still ungrateful.....game developing is a thankless job.....

Not every studio puts out a fine tuned game. This is an exclusive thing for a game that is fine tuned, thus making it funny

As someone who recently got into video game designing it's a relief to see even the pros have fun when bugs happen.
0:34 this one is not a mishap, is how the hints are actually given in this game.
All it would take is adding a single setting to switch that off. If I wanted the answer handed to me, I would watch a TH-cam tutorial!

What I find funny about this video, is that these mishaps have become the norm for many triple a titles, but Sony and Santa Monica Studio are just pumping out consistant greatness.

Although not in the end credits, that would kind of kill the emotion and experience of finishing the game 😂 but Yh in a TH-cam vid a while after is a great idea 👌 especially when your game is so polished. A lot of games wouldn’t be able to do this as there’s too many bugs left in the final release anyway 😂 naming no names 👀

This behind the scenes stuff feels like something an indie studio would do I’m genuinely so happy they let us see the most bizarre of these things game devs have to deal with
This is surprisingly open and transparent of a triple A dev, and i love it! Kudos to Santa Monica for giving us such a transparent and hilarious look into game development
