Thanks for the video that saved us time diagnosing our problem. We broke down about an hour west of Mercedes of State College, who had and delivered the part to us!
Thank you for this! We were on a BC 1200 mile trip when we received this code. No shop would help us until weeks later. We were able to find the part at a dealership and fix it ourselves! Your video helped.
Great video , my 2017 sprinter cargo van with 145,000 miles, I’ve had to replace the turbo cooler hose twice , so now I carry an xtra one . No fun being stranded 300 miles away from home
you were lucky. i have the same code and replaced both driver and passenger side hoses. drove a mile, the code came back on. i will check the resinator connections next,
@@jimmyj5557 I do not have personal experience with this clearing 0299 code. However, I have heard that it is one thing that can trigger it. It’s a fairly easy to do just a light cleaning. A deep cleaning of the EGR valve should be done by MB.
@@mimminabl8946 On mine, my check engine light is always on for other minor issues, I do not have an obi tester to read the codes, but I went to MB dealer and bought an "O" ring and replaced and it solved the problem! Seems any minor air leak makes a big problem. Good luck!
@@allenrousseau5668 Thanks for your reply. I have an OBD 2 tester which showed me something wrong with the DPF. I took it to the garage, they checked it and it showed the same in their system. They did nothing but deleting the code and asked me to come back if it shows the same error again ( they charged me £42 for that though 😡).
Dude your video really saved my bacon. Turbo cooler hose went out in South Carolina nearest dealership that had to part was in Jacksonville. And up until I watched your video I was scared I was going to have to put it in the dealership it's amazing how simple it is to replace but does Mercedes have to break it off in US 300 bucks for a hose damn.
Nice video, thanks. BTW, unsure why the Mercedes dealer dumped an extra $100 profit margin onto the hose? It’s no mystery to me. (Dealers used to be a good place to buy parts. Now with online shopping, they aren’t. They compete by refusing to compete.)
I like that everyone's first instinct is to check for turbo leak, which naturally isn't wrong but I have yet to find someone who discusses why and how the van knows a turbo leak exists. most people are not aware that the van checks for correlation between pressures pre turbo and post turbo, when those values differ, codes are thrown
Great information. Yes I should have added how and why, but on a Sunday morning stranded in WV I was going more for fix and go, 😂 thanks for commenting.
@@edwardwester5968 haha yes, Beckley WV was an interesting place to try and find Sprinter parts. The local NAPA opened at 9AM, on Sunday morning, and they told me they could have the part in seven days. Amazon was going to be able to deliver in 48 hours. Ducktape and gorilla glue we were home that evening.
The new hose around the funky collar does it have play? I'm not getting blow by oil there yet but as I am looking for the 0299 problem and that lower hose there seams to be play at the collar possible by design?
Nathan, yes you will be able to move the hose around on both ends with it properly installed. If you have help, start the vehicle, get in a position that you can see both the top and bottom, have them give it a little gas. If you are getting blow by you will be able to hear/see it. I wasn't getting any oil either.
Dealing with this exact issue and have part coming to local town. Any further advice hose removal and clamp mechanism now that you've done it 3x? Will be attempting tomorrow after fishing.

Stranded in El Paso with this problem. Thanks for the walk through.

Ugh sorry that didn’t work. Have you tried cleaning the EGR valve?
@@OlivertheRV wow. Will that help?

Thank you for that, exactly my issue. 1100 miles from home 😉😎👍🏻
I’ve the same issue now am stuck in Atlanta as am watching your video.
Thank you for sharing this! I have a 2011 Sprinter, and I think I have the exact same issue! Thank so much! God bless!
Does your van show an engine management light?. Mine does show the same code with the engine management light on the dash board.

Pretty awesome “trail” fix
Thanks Rich. Wasn't pretty but worked. We are now going to keep gorilla glue and tape in our box of possible 'needs' :-)

So glad that this helped. Yeah MB is proud of their hoses I guess. Thanks for watching.
Just bought the same hose… Billings Mercedes’ wanted 430$ for it!!! Talked em down to 350$ but you still got a deal for 250$
Hey great video BTW does that bottom hose have play in it?

The extra $$$ for the Mercedes branding on the hose. LOL
The MB dealership said apparently we are very proud of our hoses. 😆
Thanks for showing clamps on hose
You are very welcome. Those things drove me nuts. I literally had to figure them out laying under the motorcoach in the parking lot.
@@OlivertheRV l am sure that being in a parking lot in some state and having problems with a mercedes sprinter is no joke 😳

Nevermind, just found (24) Sprinter 2016 Turbo Intercooler Hose seal change - TH-cam
2008 315cdi 4cyl p0243 wastegate actuator A plus p0299. I'm stuck on the road any help I appreciate it
Thanks so much I have same problem

If the crankcase breather was sorted and not letting so much oil past the rubber hose would last a lot longer Rubber pipe and oil really not friends

I have the same truck and it loses a lot of strength will be the problem that hose moves the same
Yeah it was crazy how much it degraded. Of 0-30 mph you get the feeling, oh I could drive this, than bomb, no power rolling to a stop.
Do you know what the part number is for that? I've searched everywhere
Sorry. Just got back in town. Did you find the part and part number?
$211 hose. Wow.
