If anyone has done some research on newer oils.TBN is not a good indicator to use. Why? TBN was used for the previous generation. Fuels, especially diesel which have high sulfur values. So, I would worry too much about TBN so much.
Valvoline is a very, very good oil. It's way above others in it's price point. Great moly, etc, compared to ridiculous codt of amsoil. Afger all, u can run supertech in an engine and be fine, becayde no matter what synthetic oil u use or it claims, u shoukd still be changing it every 4-5000 miles. Dont follow the silly claims of 10k mile oil, its rubbish
Amsoil has an oxidation value of 68. Valvoline is only 6. Oxidation value is also important in tests. There’s also several types of zddp, moly, and detergents and amsoil has large amounts of ester along other high quality base oils. Valvoline is just a simple group 3. I’m not an amsoil fan boy but amsoil is far superior by a landslide than anything off the shelf. It’s worth the little bit extra. High performance lubricants, redline, and motul are also very good options. All the superior oils mentioned except redline can go beyond 10k miles. Redline just isn’t in the market for long oci intervals but it can do 10k. A good uoa will show that. Speediagnotstix or Polaris labs will also show oxidation value.
My buuck 3800 loves valvoline advanced or castrol edge. Pennzoil burns off while these 2 can last 3k miles with little oil loss

Amsoil > inferior low quality oil
