Thanks George, so good to be reminded of what a great draughtsman Hockney is. I so prefer these to the digital stuff he has produced more recently (although still a fan of hid Normandy sketchbook.
BTW was the catalogue any good? We pretty much have a shelf full off Hockney books, but I don't think we have a comprehensive portrait book. Thanks again and also enjoyed the music track as well.

Thank you for watching. I agree - this is Hockney at his best. The digital paintings don't compare. Do you know what, I didn't actually check the catalogue and I was back at the NPG last night with a friend and hadn't seen your message. I usually do. Really sorry.

I enjoyed watching this Art Vlog film ( for the 3rd time) I didn't catch the exhibition but love the filming and music and of course the wide range of the work shown.

Thank you so much for watching. So glad the music was ok because that is hard to get right while remaining in copywriter! A memorable show which has stuck with me.

I enjoyed your film, Art Vlog
Hockney has many styles and he just keeps on going...i get inspired
I always get the sense his styles are easy to learn...I enjoy drawing and painting so perhaps have an attempt in the style of 'Maurice with the flowers', at 12.34
I'll try and come down to London before it ends
a new subscriber - I will check out your other videos : )

Thank you for watching and subscribing. Have a go at drawing in the style of Maurice with the flowers - I enjoyed that one. He says he feels 30 when he's painting!

Went to this in November. Not sure if I really enjoyed it. Liked the drawings. Really enjoyed seeing Portrait of an Artist (the pool picture) at Tate Modern, his masterpiece I think.

Thank you for watching and an interesting comment. I guess it was a different side of Hockney and one that is less hyped. I loved the curation - it felt satisfying and I was so disappointed by the last display of portraits at the Royal Academy. www.royalacademy.org.uk/exhibition/david-hockney-portraits I found them superficial but these full of meaning.

The drawings are inspiring. So much of each sitter is conveyed in them.

Very much so. The focus on four sitters plus self-portraits really worked and stripped back to something more authentic, I think. The only bit I didn't really enjoy was the Normadny portraits at the end. Thank you for watching.

Do you know if this exhibition will come to the U.S.?

    • @artgalleryexplorer
      @artgalleryexplorer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have not heard that it is, unfortunately. If hear differently, I will post. It was a strange one because the works were bought together in 2020, returned to their owners and then bought back again. @@Squiffy1313

George: thank you for making this video; as I was unable to attend it. I believe it is the 3rd Exhibition held at the NPG since re-opening. Yevonde: Life and Colour was the first exhibition, followed by the Paul McCartney Photographs which I enjoyed. Did you get to visit Yevonde: Life and Colour?

Thank you for watching. I didn't get to see Yevonde Life and Colour, unfortunately, and I regret that. I hear it was enlightening?
