    A very beautiful, well engineered, fountain pen from one of the most creative of pen designers. I plan to have one of these pocket pens by the end of the year.

    I have many Gravitas pens and there is always one of them with me. Ben is a great lad and his pens are second to none. Also, the Skittles that you have is the Original model, the skittles is just the name of the colour pattern.

    Thanks for being so on top of your Leonardo project! I’m one of the lucky ones still waiting on my 2yr Hippo, so it was great to see how much you care about your customers.

    I ordered one in copper, and it's become my new daily pen at work. Scratches the same itch as my Karas Kustoms Mini K in copper!

    I picked up the copper w paisley.. it is stunning! I like that his nibs come tuned. It is heavy, yet comfortable to write with.
    I also have a blue Entry, which I love. Ben Walsh does great work.
    I like your reviews. Happy for your projects’ success.

    I'm glad to finally see a competitor to the Kaweco Supra (in its short mode) in terms of thickness, roundness and nib size. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised about the price being rather low. Gotta say, while not a huge Montblanc fan, I do like their Irish Green a lot, ironically currently in use in my Kaweco Liliput.

    David, I got one in the Stainless Steel version. Ben gave me a link to a manufacturer in the US that makes convertors for thos Pocket pens. I have been using the supplied cartridges, but have placed an order for the convertors that Ben recommended. Overall, it is a very well designed pen, and it is manufactured very well, fit and finish is just perfect. Thank you for doing such a wonderful review.

    I immediately knew which Kickstarter you were talking about as soon as you mentioned the time delay. Such a shame because the product is great and the creator is a lovely person, but the delays are to the point at which all excuses feel wholly unacceptable. Good on you for working so diligently to ensure that your gorgeous pens went out on time!

    Have this pen in copper, love the look and feel. I wish it had the rubberized part in the cap that kaweco sport has because the metal on metal posting is not great, cap occasionally falls off.

      I put a small pc of scotch tape on the barrel. It's hardly noticeable, keeps it secure when posted and I think also will protect against scratches

    The lack of a clip and the inclusion of a Chinese nib is why I unfortunately decided to buy Namisu and The Good Blue for my next titanium pens. These Gravitas look amazing and I definitely want to own an Irish pen. Too bad their website says I can't replace the nib either.

    I have a Gravitas Pocket Pen, and while it feels good in the hand and is a pretty color (teal grey), the barrel sometimes loosens a bit on its own, so that the barrel unscrews when I'm trying to remove the cap. I'm also not looking forward to the inevitable scratches posting the cap will inflict on the lovely finish. (I agree with you that on the brass model, scratches may add character. I'm not sure how they will look on the colored models, though.) Because of these issues, I tend to ink up my Schon Dsgn metal pocket pens more often.

    • @benwalsh9257
      @benwalsh9257 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Marilyn, the anodised finish is a little more lubricated than stands aluminum so the section just needs to be tightened down a little and it will stay in place. Also the anodied fi is pretty tough, you won't scratch it easily. I've also been in touch with Mary, have a surprise on the way for her and something special made for Ed!

      @@benwalsh9257 Would there be room to add an O-ring to the section to help with screwing in the barrel firmly? I might have one around here that is the proper size.

    Add $18.00 for shipping. That is more than 20% extra for the brass pen in the USA.

  • @161Baker
    @161Baker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great, but I don’t like that the nib section is not the same materials as the rest. For example brass or copper, this is holding me back. Also kaweco does a better job because the plastic inside the cap when posting is not hurting the finish.

    • @benwalsh9257
      @benwalsh9257 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The reason for not making it fully brass or copper is so you don't get stinky fingers from the metallic smell, agreed the kaweco plastic liner is much less likely to scratch your pocket pen, but brass is brass, it will scratch from daily use anyway.

    • @161Baker
      @161Baker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@benwalsh9257 That makes no sense for me. When you touch it and play around with the pen, the fingers get stinky anyway. I got a brass pen for months and literally no scratches are in it. Metall on Metal is not good, because many people want to protect the pen from scratches, not patina but scratches. That’s my Opinion, and no picking on you. I love your pens, don’t get me wrong. Just my thoughts, Greetings

    I have the copper Gravitas pocket pen and am happy to see your review. It's my first FP. Perhaps a question? It's sold as having a Jowo No 6 nib. Mine isn't labeled Jowo. Is it Jowo? and should I want to upgrade the nib to gold, is it the housing with a No 6 Jowo nib I am looking for? Or just the metal nib? Thanks!

    • @benwalsh9257

    Maybe you can answer this for me, why do people test reverse writing? Does anyone actually do that? Or are we analyzing like, the flow of the nib that way? Just curious.

    • @FigbootonPens

      Many people who use pens for drawing and art will use reverse writing to obtain a thinner line with the same pen.

    I really was impressed with the design of Gravitas pens and the fact that they were available in solid copper caused me to order one almost immediately. However that being said, I never got the pleasure of owning one.
    I had a terrible experience with Ben in attempting to obtain a copper Gravitas Sentry from him. The "wrong" pen arrived in good time.
    I contacted Ben and he blamed the error on a technology glitch in the fulfillment process and it was agreed that I would mail the incorrect pen back and in compensation he would include an extra nib with my order. Immediately I placed the pen in the mail an sent an email to Ben containing an image of the postage receipt with all pertinent tracking info. I informed him by email as soon as the package arrived in Dublin. When it did not move from there I contacted Ben advising him that he should check on it. Over the next weeks I sent repeated communications suggesting that he check with the postal authorities about the status of the package.
    Since I assumed that the correct replacement pen with the additional nib would have been dispatched shortly after I had sent confirmation of my return; I was elated when after not having any communication with Ben for some time, a familiar package arrived to my mailbox. Immediately as I held it in my hand I realized it was the same package I had mailed weeks earlier having made a complete round trip.
    I paid another $17.50 to return it "again", with the assurance that the pen I ordered was on it's way, repeating all of the above ending again in Dublin, and after months waiting for what I had hoped would end in a satisfying writing experience and possibly my pen-of-the-year; in reality ended up being the return of the price I paid, less the $35 in return postal fees and a remark from Ben about the difficulty in dealing with The U S Postal Service (which by the way got the package from overseas to my box twice)and that I could have saved us both a lot of trouble if I had let him know at the outset that I just wanted my money back.
    No, Ben, at the outset I wanted the correct item I ordered; only after months of hassle and expense with no gratification did I request a refund.
    All messages and emails confirming that the above is accurate are on file.
